    • Josh, you missed one HUGE annoyance of the Spectre-- the BRIGHT, always WHITE LIGHT on the power button. If you use it in anything but a bright room, and /or turn off the keyboard backlight, it's like spotlight in your face and, apparently, it can't be turned off. Go to the 4:01 mark in your video to see-- the light is so strong, it's reflecting off the semi-closed screen! For people who use this to watch movies or do any other tasks in even a slightly dim setting, this could be a dealbreaker.

Gives a better overall picture when trying to decide between devices, which i love. I've found other reviews just mentioning the good/bad like a brochure but not providing critical comparisons/suggestions like you have. • The fact that these Meteor Lake chips are nearly as performant on battery power, IMO, is their best and most underrated feature. The last Windows laptop I bought (i've been all Apple since then) was the Surface Pro 3. I paid $1,600 for that machine. It had decent specs on paper for the time. However, I couldn't use it unplugged because the performance was so poor, even for internet browsing. It made no sense to me - I buy this awesome, thin, light, portable machine with seemingly good battery life only to have to plug it in at all times to get any kind of work done. It appears Intel has finally nearly solved that issue, and that is just great to see. Thanks for another outstanding video, Josh and team. Although I'm fully immersed in the dark side (i.e. Mac), my kid is not, and this is a laptop I will strongly consider buying for her in the coming year since her current Lenovo Yoga 6 is now getting a little long in the tooth.

  • My favourite laptop of the last 5 years was the Spectre x360 from 2020. Only coming with a 4 core processor was a down side, but everything else was almost perfect (display, keyboard, slim form factor etc). I’m glad HP have moved away from 3:2 in the Spectre too, as 16:10 is the sweet spot for a work & leisure device. I’ve been keen to not jump the gun & wait to see what laptop options will come with the new Qualcomm chips this year, but I’m seriously considering this laptop too.

  • Just thought I’d mention that I bought a Spectre for my wife a week ago based mostly off of your glowing review and a few others. I happened to snag a deal for the 2TBSSD/32gbRAM version from Best Buy using your link and got it for $1500 instead of the usual price of around $1900 I think. So for she’s super happy :) *DISCLAIMER* Best Buy’s Spectres DO NOT come with the free stylus or the dongle for HDMI and extra usb ports. I ordered the identical stylus (HP Rechargeable MPP 2.0 Tilt Pen) for my wife to try out from Amazon for $53 (on sale I think) and a nearly identical, probably superior Anker dongle for $20 (Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1).

  • Great review thanks Josh! I have 2 questions: Are the speakers better on the 2024 spectre or the current Yoga 9i 2-in-one? And, have HP FINALLY implemented a battery charge limiting option in their software? They are pretty much the only manufacturer atm that does not do this on their consumer line up.

  • How much would I have to spend on a non 2 in 1 laptop to have basically the same level of perfomance, loudness level, screen quality and battery life? My question is how much does 2 in 1 affect the price or does it affect at all? Because I'm not sure how much I would value the tablet feature since I've never used one like that and already have an ipad (though its an old ipad that I already wanted to upgrade)

  • Thank you for discussing the grainy "screen door" effect on many OLED touchscreen panels! It's really important to me that the screen not be grainy, so unfortunately it's a deal-breaker for this laptop. I like the new format but I think you should spend a bit more screen time going over the internal upgrade options.

  • Currently owning a Spectre 15 from 2020 and looking for an upgrade, this gives me exciting hopes. I wasn't attracted to the newer spectre models before as my own spectre currently suffers from excessive heat and fan noise and poor battery life both of which I wanted to avoid when eventually upgrading while still preserving good performance for the tasks I needed. This seems to fix all of the previous issues and add some more benefits. I am curious now more than ever on a review for the new Spectre 16 of 2024 as with my warranty now expired for my current spectre, I can upgrade for a discounted price and if the same status of less heat and fan noise carries over to the Spectre 16, it might just be the one. I kindly request that you do a review on the 16 inch variant. Thanks so much. Amazing review.

    @siddi47@siddi472 ай бұрын
  • I purchased the Spector 14 from Best Buy and had to return it within a week. The screen door effect was very very noticeable to me, and it looked more like squiggly red patterns, swirling around than a screen door at times. I noticed it in light blue colors, highlights in photos on peoples faces. The whites of eyes and white text. I don’t think you could ever have an accurate white reference which is a tragic flaw in an otherwise perfect laptop, I would notice it from up to 24 inches from the screen sometimes depending on the content, It caused most content to seem blurry to me on what is a 2.8k basically Retina display. Maybe I am just more prone to these kind of things bothering me, but I’ve never noticed backlight strobe on an OLED before and I’ve had a laptop with an OLED screen before and did not ever notice this any kind of screen door effect so I do believe this is a problem on this model of specter I have seen other people make this comment before so I do not believe it was just my unit

I am trying to figure out why mine is doing this. I have gotten it to improve a little but I also don't like how the speaker sound can be so hard to hear when I have all volumes all the way up. I don't always like having headphones on. I had taken my desktop all in one back and exchanged it for this laptop because of traveling. I would say if you can live without a laptop. A suggestion: Showing the laptop with the screen on while the OS is shown as is directly from the box will help users like me to evaluate if a 14 each laptop is for them with the scaling offered by windows 11 (I'm looking at the taskbar size as an indication among other things). Going the extra mile for graphic designers would be to show photoshop displayed in full screen to evaluate the use case and scaling on screen + Drawing a few straight diagonal lines on screen with your palm on it (Palm rejection). • @JustJoshTech and community. The HP Spectre 16 inch is on sale (the 2TB one) for $1,549.99 on HP's website That's $580 (27%) off and I'm wondering if it's a must buy at this price? I know the channel reviewed the 14 inch Spectre. There's a 1TB 14 inch Spectre on sale for $300 (18%) off at $1,349.99 Wondering if I should bite the bullet and get the 16 inch instead? Or wait for a better sale on 14 inch?

      @JustJoshTech@JustJoshTech3 ай бұрын
    • @JustJoshTech Nah, it is quite disappointing. Very few laptops with AMD Ryzen and too many laptops with soldered memory. It doesn't help that Nvidia and AMD as well as Intel with 14th Gen (Meteor Lake is a bit of a different story) have nothing new to offer. Honestly, I was so disappointed in laptop hardware this year that if I didn't desperately need a new laptop, I wouldn't even thought of getting one until at least next year. Too bad so many Linux options are so dated in terms of screen options...

  • Hi Josh, I've just purchased this laptop for testing and I must say I'm taken aback by the fact that - when plugged in to 2x 27 QHD monitors - the fans simply WON'T SHUT UP. I've tried various myHP settings and even in "Silent" I can still hear them running, even though Lenovo Yoga 7 plugged into the same setup is dead silent. Would you happen to know any solution for this? This is the very same reason why I went for Lenovo Yoga 7 3 years ago - every single HP Elitebook, Envy laptop I'd tested (even the ones with AMD Ryzen) were constantly spinning their fans. I really wanted to switch to HP due to their fantastic keyboards, capacitive touchapd and build quality, but I won't pay double the price for a laptop that's making noises all the time.

I saw Andrew Marc David Live stream just few minutes ago and he said he did battery test in 120hz enabled and still got upto 15 hours of battery life which is insane and he said we will get more couple of hours battery life if we use it in 48hz to 120hz dynamic refresh rate. Everyone saying IntelCoreUltra has Macbook M2 level of battery life. I wish Intel bring Core ultra series 2 Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake soon. They already confirmed both cpu are launching this year.🎉
