  • Apollo stands so quietly because he knows he is loved, he doesn't mind all the attention. His transformation is all down to your care and wellbeing. He must be feeling like a million dollars to when you first got him. He is such a beautiful boy🦄♥ 🦄

    • Oh, I wish there were many more like Chris and Connie, too !!! And like you, Santiago, who realize their importance. Many thanks for this video, it’s rare… C & C need so many skills, combined. The Veterinary-like knowledge of equine anatomy, nerves and movement, some material science engineering and mathematics, definitely good mechanical skills , a big dash of horse-whisperer and the timing and patience to do a good job. I’d love to know if this couple teaches their career to others, perhaps at University level in Veterinary Colleges? Or maybe it needs the one-on-one direction of an apprenticeship. These are skills that need to endure! PS. Next time they come, could we please get a good look at the inside details and width of Apollo’s saddle? And maybe slow down a bit in video frames, lol? Thanks Santiago!

  • Omgoodness! From my collection of custom fit saddles, Two of my saddles are Schleese. Also, they made my custom designed bridles & girths. My trainer ANNE HORNBEAK , in Louisiana, has a professional connection with Schleese. Also, of course, very important, not only do they measure the horse, they measure the rider as well. So, the saddle fits both horse & Rider. And, Schleese is very responsible, about coming back regularly, for adjustments. Very cool! Enjoy!

    • @@apollotheshire Absolutely! Thank you, also, for the time! And yes, you are correct regarding the expenses necessary, for aquiring customized accuracy & unsurpassed quality of our horse's tack. Horse's deserve the very best fit possible. It's our gift to the horses, as they work for us. A comfortable horse works accordingly. Comfort displays in the horses attitude & movement. To begin with comfort is a good start. And lets emphasize, that this customization, also includes us, being the owner & rider, other than our trainers. We too are measured. The saddle also fits our entire body & enhances proper positioning capabilities. Yep, the saddle seat is made for our seat! Our legs. So, our saddle up top, and the horses saddle otherwise. Actually, regarding Schleese, they do deliver in person, & assure everything. They make any adjustments necessary. And, they schedule all necessary future fittings. I'll emphasize their abilities, knowledge & experience to be all encompassing, representing integrity & attention to detail, resulting in custom comfort, perfectly measured for accuracy & uniquely designed tack, built to fit, please horse & riders & last forever, I must emphasize abilities... in that Schleese has extensive knowledge, experience & integrity. The unique design of my bridle headstall, was a most talked about & copied Design. We all had design input, but my Danish WB Schoolmaster, Maradonna, had top priority, & asked for a design, where nothing touched his ears. He disliked any leather piece touching behind his ears. Schleese thrilled his entire head, all parts, with a beautiful bridle, that never lay against or rubbed, or touched nor made sweaty, behind his ears. Ingenious cut back crown piece around ears design! ALSO, they custom made his girths, cutback away from his leg, elbow & motion. No tack probs! Keep your tack clean & conditioned & it's forever ! Happy trails....

  • This is so cool, saddle-tailoring for Apollo’s living, changing body! I loved how Connie detected some soreness in Apollo’s left shoulder and how deftly Chris responded to correct it’s cause. I had no idea a saddle’s skeleton could be adjusted manually. Is that available only on very fine saddles like this dressage? I guess I thought the leather would split! Chris and Connie reminded me of fine professionals, like surgeons. Yours is truly a lifetime saddle for Apollo, through their care. While watching this, I thought about how Apollo would feel after the corrections. It’s surprising how even tolerable regular or chronic pain can change your focus. I hope the relief of it brings joy and greater freedom for creativity to Apollo!

  • I'm so glad you're going with a Schleese saddle for him. They are so meticulous in measuring and making sure the fit is correct for the horse but comfortable for the rider. Now, all you need is a shorter girth for him. To get that buckle off his muscles and nerves that can affect movement to his front legs. That's why she suggested the shorter girth. It took me a very lonmg time to find the right saddles for my Belgian and my Percheron years ago. Now saddle fitting meets science and to both horse and rider it feels as though magic happens, especially when the horse can reach further and round up into your seat easier. • I love watching Apollo It brings back great memories for me of the first time I ever saw a Shire horse. I was probably 8 or 9 years old and he looked like a giant to me and when I sat on him it was like doing the splits and it was a long ways to the ground and I hoped I never fell off of him. His feet were the size of dinner plates. He was beautiful horse and Apollos markings were similar to him, though his stockings were not the same as Apollo's., there two white stockings one one left front and the right back legs. It was one of the best day's meeting that Shire.

    • I’ll never forget meeting my first Shires. They pulled milk wagons in the 1950’s to early 1970’s in my Grandparent’s cities in Canada. I was 4 yrs. old when I remember first meeting a pair of bay Shires, and the milkman taught me how to feed them carrots. I shivered with excitement standing close to them, and ran along side of them as they progressed and stopped at every house, till my parents would run out, pick me up and carry me home, crying to be separated from them. I remember getting up early mornings at Gram’s house, listening for the clip-clop of those enormous hooves coming down the street. I became a lifelong, insatiable horse lover from the first touch of that pair. When I was 10, my uncle Howard tossed me onto the bare back of a gigantic Shire being shown at a local fair. He was so wide my legs stuck out straight like a marionette, and looking down I could see my tall uncle was going bald on top! Oh, what a magnificent black horse, remembered clearly after 60 yrs. If I close my eyes I can still recall his horsey scent and feel his smooth-coarse mane looped tight around my hands. I knew he wasn’t going to toss me off, bless his gentle heart.

  • Apollo is a superb horsey. Beautiful glow to his coat, his feet have wings that flutter in the wind, his mane echos his hooves. What a gem. Love, love watching him run. Glorious, almost unreal! That you for sharing. Your guardian angel was looking out for you when you blindly purchased him. Am a portrait painted, interested to see your brush work….

  • What I noticed.... You opened the stall door and reached for the halter. Apollo took a step towards you, you held the halter out, and he just stuck his nose in. The two of you are not simply a horse and a human. You are a partnership... And each half's well-being is intrinsically bound up in the other. A blessing to see

  • I loved watching today. I’m currently on my third Schleese saddle, most recent is an Infinity II for my ancient mare. She’s a short backed Paso with terrible sway but I can keep her comfortable with a limpet pad and half pad under. I love it that you care so much for this beautiful boy. These saddles and services don’t go cheap but it’s the least I can do for her💐🌈

  • My daughter has a horse, buckaroo who stands 17.1 high and needs a tall trailer. He is a former racehorse she got for graduating from college in 2004. she breeds freisians in pennsylvania so I just absolutely love large horses and Apollo is fantastic, so calm, and I picked up on the cues of his training when he was being led out of the stall, stopped, once the lead was on and it was time to walk, 2 taps on him, and he knew to go...
