    • I still say his 2600 yard year, or whatever it was, is the most amazing thing ever, because he was on a bad team, that didn't even go to a bowl. Bowl stats didn't count anyway, but bad teams, even back then, tended to not have huge rushing yardage. Even if you didn't normally pass the ball much, everyone would if they were losing late.

One of the best to ever play, and one of the most respected to ever play as well.

    • I still can't believe they hired that San Diego coach, forget his name, who ran a traditional offense that would have wasted Barry. I hated to see him retire, but I get it. Guy is getting older, and now you want him to bang it up the middle all day for 4 yards, instead of getting him in space in the old timey run and shoot spread offense.

Glad I’m still enjoying sports too as a 47 year old and glad people are watching some of these great 90’s players highlights and loving them. Barry was special… Barry was different. Not a lot of TDs because once they got within the 5 yard line, they stopped giving him the ball a lot. Usually it’s because he just ran 75-90 yards to get to that 1st and Goal.

They basically gave the ball to Barry all game and he would always break a few of them to carry them. Lots of players elusive in open field. but Barry was elusive face-to-face with a player and a whole d-line in ffront of him. Just amazing.

    • TBF Emmitt Smith playing until he was 150, would have passed him anyway.

    • Below the turf low, down underground with the drainage. And his legs are often not at all under his body, swinging super wide left and right, and his body is still rock solid and not moving around with them. That weird long stride he had was unique. It was long, but his feet were still moving fast enough to cut.

  • Emmitt Smith might have the record but Barry Sanders and Walter Payton are better than Emmitt Smith. Sadly Detroit didn't use Barry Sanders in the passing game and he was so dangerous in the open field. He wanted out of Detroit but Detroit wouldn't trade him and he just Quit the NFL . Check out Walter Payton he was a Beast and his running style is hard to find.

  • You're not old enough to know Barry Sanders. I thought it was funny early in the video when you said if you don't catch him early, he's gone. Right after you said that, a defender chases him down from behind and tackles him. Barry Sanders wasn't known for his speed. He got caught from behind all the time.

    • Only early in his career, he got tired of people saying that and worked on his endurance and long range running and rarely got caught afterward unless someone had a good angle on him
