  • Before I say anything else, I just have to tell you and your wife that your little boy is precious! My husband and I raised two (they're in their 40s now), so everytime I see a little one like yours, my mind flies back to those very special times. They go so quickly!! Okay, to business: I wasn't aware of your channel until I started viewing the channels involved in the challenge. Men and women like you, you value the deep things: wood, grain, patterns, hidden treasures, headed for the bin to valuable (and valued) pieces for the home. Thank you for participating in the challenge, and thank you for sharing a little bit of your family! Cheers!

  • This was definitely a trash to treasure restoration. It will last for many years to come now. I really do appreciate these rescues because our furniture isn't made to the superior standards of the past and we are losing too many treasures to the landfills. Well done and I appreciate all of you who are doing this challenge. Great work.

  • Well done, your attention to detail is admirable and all too uncommon. That stain job of the dovetails was a thing of beauty. The stain is too dark though, obscures the beautiful wood grain and doesn't go with the interior. A superb restoration nevertheless and so satisfying to save a piece from the past when furniture was made with such craftmanship and old growth tree wood that simply doesn't exist today.

    @artysciencegal2521@artysciencegal2521Күн бұрын
  • It just shows how an old, peeling & badly damaged finish can make a piece just god awful to look at but replace it with a fresh stain & finish (with some appropriate repairs to the deeper layers) and you get a wonderful looking piece of furniture again. 😀

  • Just starting the video. I've watched Mayfield dude, Jay, and Luca. My score so far: Mayfield for both the most complicated and beautiful restoration; Jay in second for the oldest restoration, plus having to have glass made (and cats), and Luca in third. Even though he had a pretty trash piece to work with, I really like how he captured how it was originally, without taking away from its history. As beautiful as that inlay is, I'd give him top marks for over-complicating things. Looking forward to see how you go.
