  • I think it's a shame that he did such quality mechanical work just to bullshit about the output. I mean the reuse of stuff around him and the workmanship was genius but those coils, even cooled by the epoxy won't handle 8 Kw. I have a 7 Kw Troy Bilt gas generator and the generator head alone is the size of 3 shoe boxes. I question where the power was actually coming from because he had the yellow cable from the mill UNDER the spool by the fan then he had the fan and pump plugged into the spool. I suspect that the cable ended under the spool and the spool was plugged into the house through a hole in the roof. Also, he had no speed governor on the mill to avoid appliance burnout in high wind situations. The sound of the pump remained at a constant tone as the mill sped up and slowed down. The pump speed should have varied with the mill speed. He also had no mechanism to avoid having the output wire from wrapping around the mast as the mill turned and change direction as the wind changed direction. This is done with carbon brushes and slip rings on small units like this. He also has no 50 Hz frequency regulation. This is not important for light bulbs but extremely important for motors. With a rectifier bridge and some regulation, it would be a pretty good project to charge batteries and run an inverter.

We are also interested in knowing the voltage drop one occurs when putting a load on the generator. Just be real dude…. And keep up the good work.

  • The idea is good but there are observations 1 Wind speed is a limiting factor for energy production 2 The height of the fan assembly from the ground is a specific factor The higher the height, the higher the wind speed 3 The number of coil turns is a limiting factor 4 The strength of the magnets is a limiting factor 5 How do the wings rotate while they are flat We did not see the angle of inclination of the wings. Running a water pump& table fan at such a slow speed for fans is impossible

I would have accommodated for tip pressure migration as an instinctive measure, but I'm used to 3-700bhp with 350-900ftlbs of torque doing the twisting.

I remember there was some equation concerning the voltage or power that was dependent on the number of turns of wire. I got a use for something like that. I might adapt it for a project. You must have put epoxy on the coils to make them stay together. I took four EE classes at UMass Lowell and the professors there said principles of how to make a motor wouldn't be seen until grad school - lol. There is another guy, Jeremy Fielding on youtube that loves motors too.

  • Mind the gap - the closer you could get the magnets to the coils the better the thing should work. i felt like the magnets had still much of epoxy cover on top. (edit:) maybe a second layer of magnets would have been possible. what ever that would mean for the resulting voltage and currents possible. I am not sure but i feel like if the magnets would be placed in a more circular fashion that would have also improved the setup a bit - but not absolutely sure why your design ticked for that rectangular fashion. (edit:) by the way other such designs have a high-winds emergency flap. if winds get to strong then some spring will allow the fan blades to go in parallel to the wind direction - you will easily find several examples for that on the internet.

      @n.8337@n.83372 жыл бұрын
    • @@n.8337 С чего бы ему не возникать внутри катушек? Воздух магнитное поле тоже проводит, не только металл. Вал без магнитного залипания будет легко вращаться БЕЗ нагрузки, естественно. Под нагрузкой - с усилием. Тем не менее, не будет эффекта залипания, что облегчает страгивание винта на не сильном ветру. Наличии/отсутствие сердечников влияет на размеры генератора, а так же на то насколько велика должна быть скорость вращения. При наличии сердечников можно сделать генератор меньшего размера и более тихоходный. Но для самодельщиков это не критично - они могут просто сделать генератор под их задачу.

      @rajeshks2040@rajeshks20402 жыл бұрын
    • @irmux skeptic stainless steel sheet can last longer... and a structure that lasts longer is less harmful than the ones that you have to throw out frequently. And solar panels? Miniature wind mills can be made better than those. And the market doesn't matter to me, because it is irrelevant to how harmless it is to nature. And solar energy requires more energy storage units than smaller wind mills to just power your house.

      @rajeshks2040@rajeshks20402 жыл бұрын
    • @irmux skeptic output depends upon which factors?

      @obc7523@obc75232 жыл бұрын
    • @irmux skeptic A black electric cable runs from the small roof to the bottom of the pinwheel tube. In the upper part of the pipe, the electric cable is led out and connected to the yellow extension cable under the black isolepe, which is to mask this connection and at the same time hide two weak wires from the "wind turbine". It's a typical Copperfield trick that offers a fake switch ("wind farm") while energy is distributed from the home grid along the same path. Apparently it didn't work well, and the boy decided to capitalize on his investment as a KZhead trick. That's what many do. In terms of psychology, why would someone who has photovoltaic panels, that is, have a relationship with it and prefer proven technologies, attach a cord to an ugly wind farm that can't rotate 360 degrees, is unstable, and has bad propellers. That is not normal. As for the project itself, which can work to a limited extent, there are a few mistakes. I will list only the most important ones. The gap between the rotor and the stator must be minimal, almost to the thickness of the paper. The magnets must be made of rare earths - they must have a high magnetic force and if the iron cores of the coils were used, preferably of transformer sheet, the effect of magnetic flux would be 10,000 times greater, but with alternating currents it is possible to use air coils - it's such a dynamo without commutator. The number of threads cannot be 300, but 3000. Just a lot of bugs that didn't work as planned.

  • The power rating of the pump he uses at the end as a test, will be the rating when it's under load, actually pumping. That will vary, too, according to how high it needs to pump the water. Free-running it might well only use a tenth of it's rated power. The fan is tricky, because a fan turns too quickly to be seen on video normally. So we've no idea how fast it's running, and therefore how much power it's getting. Probably this generator's coil windings are a good bit thicker than the ones in the fan's motor, so it's more powerful than that. Of course the blades are larger too, though the rpm is much lower. Would be difficult to guess at which would push more air, if the generator was wired up as a fan. Actually that might be a good demo / test. Power the generator, using it as a fan. Use the shop-bought fan as a comparison. Have them facing each other, and see which way, say, a piece of dangling string is blown. The idea would be to see which fan is stronger. From that, you could reasonably assume how much more powerful the windmill is than the fan. Since a motor and a generator are the same thing, the only difference is the specifics of fine-tuning it. Failing that, just have the windmill power a kettle and see how long to boil 1 litre of water, or to heat it by 10C or the like. Even better just stick one of those plug-through power usage meters in. Like the Hopi that Big Clive uses. Sorry I just saw the fan and got carried away. Regardless, nice build. The practical thought that went into making what he wanted from the parts he had is impressive. I hope he gets a lot of decent use out of it. The coil winding machine is nifty, I suppose he calculated beforehand, what sort of rpm he could expect, and what voltage he wanted, to know how many turns to use.

    • We can make some assumptions about what output his generator is able to make, since he did the test with the lampbulbs. I don't think, those bulbs are using more than 60 watts, but let's be generous and assume, they are 100 watts each. We can only see them glowing a short period of thime, when his generator was spinning quite fast. As soon as it begun to slow down, the light was flickering off. Altough after the blades where installed, the generator was spinning constantly, but clearly slower than what he was spinning them with his hand before. Therefore we know for a fact, that he is producing less than 300 watts. I think, if we assume he produes 150 watts, that assumption would be fair. Eigher way it is impossible in my opinion that he would produce enough power to run the fan, let only the pump at the same time, so something fishy is going on here.

  • This may be off topic but I think someone might find it interesting. :D Over Unity Water wheel electric generator: Top of structure has Huge slanted basin (If looking at it from the side it would be slanting down to the right). When filled with water the water naturally slides down and over edge where it starts falling straight down causing water wheels to spin. Water wheels are stacked on top of each other not touching but close. As water falls it hits them all one after the other making them all spin as it makes it's way to the bottom. At the Bottom of the structure there is a large slanted basin. This basin is slanted in the opposite direction to the one on top so the water slides down to the left, into a pool of sorts that is U shaped,(imagine right below the water wheels is the shallow end and as it slants down it gets deeper for some distance then winds around to the other side of construct and comes back up to another shallow end. Now directly behind the water wheels on a flat surface that is above the pool of water that's curving around it, there is another wheel positioned vertically but this one is not a water wheel, this one has powerful magnets embedded horizontally inside of it on both of it's flat sides so there magnetic repulsive field is pushing outwards away from the disc on both sides. (Also each embedded magnet is surrounded in high permeability metal or Mu-Metal to focus it's magnetic field lines into a condensed strong field. This disc is powered by one powerful electric motor. Now imagine long hollowed out cylindrical tubes submerged & sticking out of the pool of water and reaching all the way up and into the basin that holds water on top. Now imagine each tube has a windy slide inside that goes from top to bottom. Now imagine the tube has rings around it that are magnetically repelled so when the main wheel spins around the horizontally positioned magnets hit into the side of these rings causing the entire cylindrical tube to spin. The spinning motion of the tube will cause it to scoop up the water in the pool and the centrifugal force of the spin and the windy slide inside will guide and force the water back to the top. Now remember for this to work properly there needs to be enough water wheels spinning to generate more electrical current then the motorized wheel needs to spin. Key Element 1: Number & quality of water wheels. Key Element 2: Quality of electric generator connected to each water wheel. Key Element 3: Enough tubes to pull enough water from bottom basin back to top basin to equal the rate and amount of water filling both basins at any given time. Key fact: The accumulation of electrical current from the electric generators connected to the water wheels must be greater then the 1 electric motor needs to spin. Key Fact: One must divert the needed electrical current from the generators connected to the water wheels to the motor spinning the disc that has the magnets on it. Key Fact : If this is done properly it would be an over Unity Electric Generator. Reason why some may think this would not work: Some would say the amount of energy the motor needs to spin the disc with magnets on it will always be greater then the amount of electrical current being perpetuated by the electric generators on the water wheels complements of natural energy losses do to heat and friction. This assumption is understandable however I will explain why this does not stop this device from being an over unity device. You see it comes down to one simple truth. The motor spinning the vertically positioned disc is only actually doing a fraction of the needed work, it is the horizontally positioned magnets impacting into the tubes causing them to spin that is doing the heavy lifting :) and since the magnets are positioned horizontally on disc the push back against them is unable to hinder the motor spinning the disc to a degree that would require it to do loads more work. In conclusion this is a device that can be self contained away from the elements so as to not hinder it's effectiveness. And it is an Over unity device if built correctly. & to all you nay Sayers out there I would just like to add I hope you all have a great day and whether you like it or not this design works. :D

    • If you can show it working for hours or days without editing the video I would believe you. If you watch the top basin water level you will find it is getting lower and lower proving as usual it isn't over unity. You know that is true just as we do. So it doesn't work. Nothing we can make is even 100% efficient. For this to work it has to be over 100% efficient to get any useful output.

      @linuxonbute@linuxonbute2 жыл бұрын
  • I have some question: 1st: It is well known that the required mechanical rotational speed of the rotor depends on the number of poles and required electric frequency. It is given by the formula: S = 120.f/p where: S: angular speed in RPM (rotations per minute) f: electric frequency in Hz p: number of poles in the rotor. Example: for 60Hz, given that his construction shown in this video has 4 poles, the required mechanical speed should be: S = 120 * 60 / 4 = 1800 RPM. So, unless the turbine rotates at 1800 RPM all devices connected to the turbine will be running off its nominal frequency, wich lead to serious problems no only for the devices as well for the generator. Unless you connect some power electronic devices such as Rectifiers and inverters, this kind of assemblage could not work for most electric devices. 2nd: you have used coils with no magnetic cores, which makes it "high reluctance" , in other words, low magnetic coupling poles, limiting the efficiency of the generator. So, it would be very interesting if you make a video showing: - Electric measurements (voltage, frequency and current being drained from your turbine. Just use some multimeters for that, Im sure you have some. -Give more details about the electric scheme (how you've wired the coils. After this, I'd be encouraged to repeat your construction! Nice video, though!

My father was an electrician when alive and got me interested. Though I am NOT an electrician I enjoy dabbing in the trade and would like to take advantage of all the wind where I live so watching this video inspired me but its incompleteness just makes me ask more questions.
