I feel like this is basically the exact opposite of why vr makes me sick, but still pretty much the same. Seeing movement that you're not physically making and moving but not seeing the movement happen at the same time is just an ultra mind fuck
It is similar, but VR amplifies the feeling because there is NO other visual feedback, whereas here you have the physical car interior you can see.

The base concept is brilliant, and I would love to use this idea on a course designed to prove something like drunk driving reaction times. As usual Tom Scott and his friends keep giving me ideas. My concept would hopefully use a "drive by wire" vehicle (with the correct realtime force-feedback) to give some real world results. I might just have my Thesis right here in a Tom Scott linked video! Thanks.

I work with a full sized car simulator (a literal car put in a container off the ground with a motion simulator, 360 degree projected screens etc.), and it basically has the same effect. Probably because the hardware and software is fairly old. Surprisingly, only about 30% or so of the people we take through it get some motion sickness.

I used to design GPS systems with semi autonomous controls and I've pretty much done this before trying to dial it in. It is a very odd feeling driving something that has delayed controls.
With some real time instrumentation added, this might actually be a great pilot training tool for IFR conditions. Alot of CFIT crashes were due to pilots' sight not matching up with their inner ear. Very neat idea and fun video.
