This is the all-new McLaren 765LT!!
McLaren’s new 765LT ‘Super Series’ is absolutely out of this world, and has the stats to back it up! The V8 under the bonnet will produce 765hp (the clue’s in the name, of course) along with 800Nm of torque. It’s 80kg lighter than the 720S, and as a result, the 4-litre twin-turbo V8 can accelerate the longtail to achieve 60mph in less than 3 seconds, and can manage the quarter mile in under 10!!
Clearly this is one almighty machine, and unfortunately we’re not drag racing it… Just yet, at least. But for now, stick with Mat and find out if this is the must-have supercar of 2020!

the 765 will win second place is senna third is 720s depending on the length the placement can differ (if anyones about to say “well a senna is a hypercar” you are right but a senna has massive aero and is made for the track which will heavily affect its drag time

So even though the track was damp and it had some wheelspin in 2nd gear, it still did 0-60 - 2.8 Sec 0-100 - 5.1 Sec 0-124 - 7.0 Sec 0-150 - 9.8 Sec

You have the consider the fact that the road is a proper race track. Not an used airfield that carwow normally uses. Which means much better traction.

Its nice (and interesting) to see shorter ratios/ fd coming back on high power cars partly due to the DCT and 7 or 8 gears. Years ago your gears would be 50, 85, 115, 140, 160, V max. This car is roughly (at 8500rpm) 1st 43 2nd 63 3rd 90 4th 120 5th 155 6th onwards unavailable.

Wrong the 720s dyno BS numbers were from quote me happy dynos in the USA. Owners here have used proper maha chassis dynos which produced the manufacturers figures! The car was fast due to the fat power curve, light weight and gearbox. Top end where power really matters at 170-200mlh the pista was just as quick which was tested by drag times and Robert at apex

Assuming Mat did the 0-150mph in a straight line, it covered 0.9 miles in 9.8 seconds, so it's sure to beat the 911 turbo s (which does 0-150 in ~14.9s). Obviously gearing comes into play as well as launch speed and traction, but it sounds near certain it'd win.
Something about your math is wrong. The 765LT does the 1/4 mile in 9.9 seconds. You’re stating that it does nearly a full mile in 9.8, which isn’t possible, since McLaren reached around 130 mph by the time the 1/4 mile is over. The time isn’t wrong, just the distance of 0.9 miles.

I did some calculations, to see how fast the 765LT could complete 1/4 mile and if its under 10 seconds *all assumption are from the info provided in video* max velcity (v) = 150 mp/h = 67.056m/s initial velocity (u) = 0 m/s t = 9.8s (to get to 150mp/h) a = ? To find avg acceleration a = v-u/t = 67.065-0/9.8 = 6.8433673469 m/s^2 So acceleration during mats test was 6.84 ms^2 To find time in 1/4 mile run t = ? s = 1/4 mile = 402.336 m a = 6.8433673469 m/s^2 u = 0 t = (Sqrt(2*a*s + u^2 - u))/a t = (Sqrt(2*6.8433673469*402.336 + 0))/6.8433673469 t = 10.8436256988 s = 10.84 s Therefore from the test that Mat did (not accounting for road surface condition, air temp, humidity, wheelspin etc, and just using the raw "data" from the run) we can deduce that the McLaren is not a sub 10 second 1/4 mile car. If conditions were better and Mat can get a better launch maybe around 10.2~10.4 seconds, and if he can really hammer the start and shifts a 10.0~10.2 is possible
While your calculations seem to be correct one thing that you have to anticipate when going from tarmac to a drag strip is that there is surface prep at a drag strip giving the car a much better launch
@@BrendanAbdal That is true, drag strips do have a high grip surface, but I was talking about the carwow drag " testing facility" which is pretty much an old retired runway made of asphalt/concrete I think which itself will be low grip and dirty due to no use

Since we have 3 measurements from 0-150 we calculate for each segment the distance traveled for better precission: d = 0.5 * (60mph / 2.8s) * (2.8s)² + 60mph * 2.3s + 0.5 * (40mph / 2.3s) * (2.3s)² + 100mph * 4.7s + 0.5 * (50mph / 4.7s) * (4.7s)² d = 0.2376389 miles But wait, we still have 0.2s left, so we assume that the acceleration will be the same as from 100-150 since the time period is so small we won't have any deviation at all: d_final = 0.2376389 miles + 150mph * 0.2s + 1/2 * (150mph / 0.2s) * (0.2s)² = 0.2501 miles Result: This is an approximate calculation, but if there were more segments the result would be higher, so no doubt that the McLaren 765LT will do a drag race in under 10 seconds with dry track and good launch. Furthermore, the McLaren 720S already does 9.7s in a drag race, being a slower car.
