I don't have much use for it other then headhunter missions, I prefer other aircraft for my pvp needs like the starling.

Also the key bind/controls for the flares are the same as converting into VTOL mode :p

Hydra is the best plane for taking out mk2's. not stuck going in circles and and you CAN use the vtol effectively in a dogfight, 90% of people are just too braindead to use it correctly.

@@xViper it all depends on the pilot. A very experienced hydra pilot who knows its limits and has great accuracy can take out anything including oppressors

The thing is, the hydra's canons are pretty accurate to it's real life counterpart which uses 30mm rounds.
Sorry but this rework completely takes away the Hydra's identity as a jet. San Andreas' version didn't make any sense realism wise since the real Life counterpart was/is a multi purpose Fighter Jet. Instead of removing the Machine guns entirely I would reduce them to one, reduce its fire rate to around 700 rpm and make them projectiles that are slower but boost their overall dmg. For better understanding, it should mimic the 30mm Cannon from BF4s Stealth Jet. I would also include a 9000 rpm minigun turret (non explosive) on the Hydra's belly that can even look directly under itself. The turret can be accessed in both Flying and VTOL mode and the Jet can still be perfectly controlled since the turret cam when accessed will be included in the top left of the player HUD/UI taking away more than a fourth of the screen to make it balanced as well as make the Jet unable to use its other weapons while the turret is active . I would also include various Weapon modifications. Last but not least I would give the Hydra the Smugglers Run treatment: Armor Upgrades Steering Upgrades Engine Upgrades Countermeasures Designs Weapons (The Turret, Bombs, various different Rocket types such as free fire full auto ones with low explosive dmg or the standard 7 round rocket barrage) Edit: The Hydra/Lazer Homing Missile cooldown would ofcourse be removed and the VTOL handling would be completely reworked making it smoother and easier to control.

I like these changes as the only way you can exploit the missiles against ground targets is to go in Hover Mode, which basically makes you a sitting duck for anyone willing to take you down. Basically making you OP but also very exposed, unlike something such as the MkII.
Honestly the "rebalanced "Hydra is useless for anything due to not having any kind of MG making it useless against air vehicles and using the missiles while normal flying is extremely hard and especially hitting moving armored targets will be impossible and even if you go in vtol it would be much worse than just using a fucking Hunter due to the vtol mode being clunky and the missiles are worthless even if they have mk 2 tracking jets can still dodge them and taking out armored targets is impossible with them too
@@Feewson your right and wrong at the same time there have been tones of times when I've creeped on a Hydra for it to just run from me(not using the lazers deathbeam) I haven't watched the whole vid but if he makes it faster and gives the lock on more range, I can see this being a good anti ground vehicle option.
@@lil_dingie901 as you know armored vehicles like the nightshark can take over 30 missiles and with the Hydra missiles shooting 2 every 4 or so seconds it would take ages for a vehicle to get destroyed meanwhile the vehicle can just enter lsc
@@Feewson that's why you pick your battles night shark, lazer, and oppressor can play with them selves but for any non Stier vehicle it would be fine (half-track and MOC ig would also fit for the armor but those are slow or massive so avoiding the rockets while dealing with the Hydra would probably even it out)
@@Feewson Yeah but you have to understand that this here is a concept from a fan of the game using whatever values he has at his disposal which is very limited. If this were a proper dev that could get into the code and go into the workings of the jet, remodel it to show no MGs n all that jazz, and properly adjust it, this thing would be very balanced as the concept would have you believe. But this is also going under the assumption that everything else has been rebalanced in a big way like the Hydra in this video. So it makes me question why you're even having those thoughts to begin with.

@@1slimeyfella. Rhino and APC are pretty garbage though, and he did a pretty decent job rebalancing the APC, the only problem was not allowing passengers to control the gun, always thought that was really fun in GTA Online and the Insurgent Pickup was one of my favorite vehicles when it released.

I find the actual hydra is funny with the explosive cannon, but in a dimension where rockstar actually cares about this game and make these changes I wouldn't mind to have this version of the jet at all, nice rebalance as always🤝🏻

Not gonna lie, if GTA V's Hydra had free thruster movement, it would dominate the skies. USMC Harrier pilots developed a tactic in the '70s called "VIFFing", which stands for Vectoring In Forward Flight. Basically, they would rotate the nozzles at different angles to increase the turn rate of the Harrier. They even made faster fighters to overshoot by climbing with the nozzles at 90°, while the other jet didn't have enough pull to get a shot at the Harrier. If GTA V had decent flight mechanics, Lazers wouldn't be able to compete with the Hydra in a turnfight, assuming it still has its cannons. Though realistically speaking, the Lazer should have more thrust-to-weight ratio. The GTA V's version of the Hydra is quite the whale, the sleeker, F-16-looking version in SA was better IMO.
@@choppergunner8650 You make a good point, but I'd beg to disagree. I doubt it would dominate, as there are many more agile planes and jets, now. And let's not forget the annoying MK2 snipers, and other AA weaponry and vehicles. I feel that it could use that, buff, too, considering the jet itself is clunky and slow on the agility side of things. That being said, that's actually a really cool story on those pilots. Wow.

One thing i would like to see is a revamp on the business of gta online, starting with the crates one all the way up to the nightclub, i think there is a lot to improve and change to them so it's more fun, less restrictive/random and less painful to do, here are some changes i would make to the biker ones. Changes to all of them: 1- if you steam supplies, they fill the business, there is no point in stealing a truck full of supplies to fill a single bar of it 2- Make it so if you buy security the chance of a raid is reduced by 95%, or just removed, security is expensive to buy and to maintain, there is no point in having your business raided even with them 3- Make it so sales going from Paleto bay to los santos give extra cash, same with the island ones otherwise it's just useless to have you business there 4- A system were you can choose the vehicles you want to use for deliver, however with either a penalty or a bonus money for it. For example: easy ones like the big truck reduces the money by a percentage, and hard ones increases it Aside from that, increase pay on the documents and weed ones, they pay too few compared to the others what do you think?

Yeah I wouldn't mind ghillies weapon changes but having guns like the buzzards for example as well as the free fire rockets would just be epic. The homing missiles I could live without anyway I generally only use them to force other jets into a loop of the idiot MK2 pilots who are dumb enough to sit motionless and spam rockets

Yes MW19's VTOL and other MW Harriers use that. But I don't think real life Harriers have those kind of guns.

@@thickboi4304 I think the 3 weapons should have different uses. The machine guns should be used against aircraft, make the rate of fire of the machine guns abit higher and be able to aim much higher then the other guns. The machine gun should also have some armour but not as much as the pak cannon. The missile launcher should have deluxo tier tracking and maybe ignore counter measures and have a large lock on radius but shorter then the chernborg hopefully making this a useful tool against oppressors, deluxos, jetpacks and maybe aircraft (if possible be the only weapon that can lock onto guided missiles and destroy them). In turn it will have a long lock on time that's longer then the chrenborgs and can't aim as high as the buffed machine guns, it also won't be able to free aim and only be able to fire when its red. The launcher will also have limited ammo along with no armour. The pak cannon should be a counter to heavily armoured vehicles like it is currently but should be buffed however the damage I think should be nerfed slightly but still do more damage then RPGs in exchange for lots of armour for the trailer itself compared to the other weapons. I would also maybe make the projectile abit slower in order to make it not too over powered and also be able to aim slightly high then normal in order to help it hit avengers or b-11s. I think you should be able to choose the vehicle (that you own) you want to carry the trailer in via its own section in the interaction menu so you can pick the right vehicle for the situation. but am okay with just a armoured nightshark rather then a simple pick up truck (although if the pick up truck was buffed in armour then I'd be okay with that too) .
I think we need an aircraft carrier in the game, so that you can customize the aircraft you've stored, in any hangar you owned. Like the Lazer jet will have bunch of customization; such as 12/12 Zuni Rocket pod, Ground-to-Air missile, Passive guided Air-to-Air missile. Also include Jdam bomb dumb fire

@@GhillieMaster I wish I could see them in FiveM if possible. You'll see people actually uses missile, flare, and gliding while hover instead of autocannon nose. Also you forgot to add flare CM in hydra which is possible in SA.
doesn't the "no cannon" thing just almost make dogfighting impossible? the lock-on missile has to be perfect to compensate for no hitscan damage options what so ever. Also both the missiles firing at the same time kinda look weird, maybe it could be a continuous barrage of missiles that get fired one by one left-right-left-... ? p.s Why is there much less fog in the edited version of the game?

I think it’s cool to have at least one jet that isn’t dedicated for dogfighting but is still very deadly air to ground. Pulling off a dogfight kill in this hydra will finally be impressive.

WOW.. good on ya on not just talking about a hypothetical speculation and big what if scenario...but to actually go INTO THE CODE and like make it feasably plausible and demonstratable... that is truly incredible. My hat goes off to you, AMAZING. But its also kind of sad because this just highlights that resources are there for tockstar to EASILY make these changes and balancing... but they just dont do it..

With any sort of MGs it's going to be useless against other planes. IDC if the MGs were the typical non explosive ones. That would be fine. But getting rid of them entirely is pretty stupid.
Hell no skilled hunter pilots win dogfights all the time and they only have Rockets. Imo removing the mg makes the hydra a lot more unique as well as making it more interesting in dogfighting scenarios. Perhaps the tracking missile could have more use than just make the most meme plane accelerate. It’s also because the oh hydra had none

As a person that uses the Hydra to fight griefers and tryhards. I prefer how it is. But obviously I'm biased, as I mastered the Hydra and consider it like an exosuit. I can hover in central combat zones low to the players who are spamming RPGs/Homing and C4ing themselves. The only threat to me *sometimes* is Explosive Rounds. Even then I know how much damage I can take, I'm always looking for icons that look like someone aiming at me, and I know to stay low enough so they Cant see me. I can dive and instantly switch to hover and not hit ground allowing me to attack certain armored targets or blind spots of enemies. I CAN tilt the Jet and shoot targets in front of me just not straight down while hovering. Hovering higher at greater speed isn't necessary as I can just switch to jet mode. And you can already dodge missiles by flying to the side, only tracked missiles need the circle method. A Mk2 is weak against dives. And cluster spam might hit something. But knowing Mk2s they'll just chaff homing and boost clusters. Against other aircraft it can hold its own as well. Taking away Explosive cannon just takes awhile from its A2A abilities.
This rebalance actually makes the hydra fun to use. It’s deadly in the right hands only. And that’s how aircraft should be. Super deadly if flown by a trained pilot. And hardly a threat if flown by noobs. Love the missile ideas and handling improvements. This has me hyped for the Lazer and Molotok rebalances

I believe the hydra is going to have some sort of explosive cannon so it can survive during a dogfight. Any experienced dogfighter can dodge or use countermeasures rendering the hydra useless against other planes
Great video Ghillie. I'm glad you included buffed armor as a perk for Hydra. Also, wanted to add that given Hydra' s better handling and speed will make it a better vehicle to grind with, especially air cargo (if someone still does it xD) .

completely agree with these changes, it would be my favorite jet and it would feel a 2006 nostalgia, can you try to balance the Mogul and the Tula soon, I really like those planes. PD like your content.

For anyone who doesn’t agree with nerfing the hydra, this is what it looks like to carefully tone down an overpowered vehicle. The hydra doesn’t have to fixed exactly in this way, but this is leaps and bounds in the right direction.
The explosive cannons are obviously way overtuned but to be honest, neither the hydra or the Lazer are that overpowered at least in the air to ground sense which is where they're used most. All you need is 1 explosive round or a couple normal bullets and the things start chain smoking like no tomorrow
It’s the easiest aircraft to spawn trap players with. Not only does it take a good sniper to shoot at it, most players (noobs) don’t have those rounds. As weak as these jets are, they still take almost no effort to spray an entire area to kill people over and over. They are too devastating air to ground. Coming from someone who’s experienced in bombing and free aiming missiles air to ground.
@@omster_ I propose their cannons get nerfed but their armor increases. Wouldn’t it be more fun for everyone if these things weren’t so deadly but also didn’t get shot down so easily? It’s better to have a longer lasting minor threat than a short term spawn trapping threat. If these changes are made, skilled pilots with accuracy and experience will absolutely murder ground targets, but new pilots will mostly miss their shots and get shot down easily. We only want these jets to be a threat if a skilled player is in the pilot’s seat. Unlike the Mk2, where any player regardless of skill level is guaranteed to blow up your sports car out of nowhere.
@@FalconFlight747 I made those changes when I personally messed around with the A10s vehicle properties but I wish there was some kind of ammo that would simulate the Real A10s bullets, creating a massive amount of smoke and having heavy penetration on vehicles, but that's too advanced for a game made on the 360. Problem is with the hydra there ain't much options to differ them from the A10, so maybe the A10 gets explosive rounds and the hydra gets very powerful bullets
@@omster_ At the very least the A10 should get explosive cannons with a higher rate of fire. The hydra could have strong regular guns, like what Ghillie did with the Savage, but if that’s the case then I would like to see dual free aim missiles on the hydra too.
I like it. My idea for rebalancing it would have been to nerf blast radius of the explosive bullets and then give it barrage missiles. But you made it more unique than that. Now for the Lazer I would again nerf blast radius of explosive cannons, but then give it multi lock-on missiles (up to 4 individual targets like the XLAA's and XAGM's in Ace Combat games).
Thruster and Hydra reworks look fun af! I love weird movement full of quirks and possibilities... The OG Opressor, Ruiner, Scramjet, Toreador(in the water with the boost) even the Mk2 when using it upside down and honestly these 2 reworks give us way more possibilities specialy the thruster ;)
*Why put this much effort into redesigning it when you could just remove a wing* Jokes aside though, I think a 1-winged hydra would be balanced. It would be the glass cannon of jets. It still has the amazing cannon, but to be able to aim it you'd need to be skilled. And Vtol mode also allows for much better handling when flying with one wing. However even a skilled pilot can be countered, as missiles are way harder to evade when flying with one wing, and dogfighting becomes nearly impossible.

@@AzZulski a one winged jet will constantly be rotating, but you can still control it. You'll just need to switch inputs alot. And the rotation can be countered using vtol. So it would introduce a skill element to fly the jet, which I think is fair

Believe it or not, but this version of the hydra was actually a thing. When the game was being developed a plane called the Vulcan had the exact same body as the hydra except where it says H-27 on the wings it said V-22. It was meant to be implemented into single player but was unfortunately removed. There even was a description for the plane that is still in the game files I believe. I also believe that if it was to be added it wouldn't have the vtol feature that the hydra has
Honestly, I think that the current hydra ingame should be called the Hydra II since its completely different from the 1992 hydra.

I really like the changes you made to the Hydra. One thing i would do if i were you is to remove the wind affecting the jet while flying as much as it does now. Also would love for you to play around balancing the rifles and smgs in game so each one haves its own purpose and not have 1 meta gun with the others useless.
The Hydra from GTA San Andreas is definitely an old favourite of mine, so when they added it to GTA Online as part of the Heists, it was definitely awesome to see it make its return😁 but you've done a fantastic job of re-creating the proper GTA SA Hydra into GTA V there, would definitely love to see it like that!👍👏

The thing I'd like to see this Yak do in gta is this: The reason the Yak-38 has such a short wingspan is so it can reach mach speeds without afterburners, at the cost of extremely sluggish maneuverability at slower speeds. With this in mind, I would not mind in the slightest if this plane were able to fly at, let's say, 1.5x the speed of a Pyro, at the cost of it having the worst handling out of any fighter in the entire game. As well as the huge speed increase only taking effect at above 2000ft. It also happened to carry R-60's, which are probably the IRL equivalent of a Ruiner missile. This plane would be a perfect opportunity to introduce a new kind of missile to the game. Missiles of a high speed, predicting nature, as opposed to their current slow speed, tracing nature. Though, similarly to the B-11's limited homing capacity, this plane would only have 15 missiles, or less.

I think the canons should be kept but nerfed in range and damage just a bit so that they're not completely useless but they should also have a 1.5 sec reload time with each burst being about 4 seconds of fire before reloading that would reduce the spam effect and require more precision in order to kill someone. The missiles should have the best tracking since it is a military jet and have fast travel time and the same wait time per shot as the sparrow. Also the jet needs flares and a slightly better armor against bullets/explosive rounds. Two hit missile to blow up seems fair.

To be fair i think both jets should keep their cannons but just make them non explosive or make them shoot explosive sniper rounds :/ idk if that would make any difference or not but it seems better than completely removing them.

I love these changes! I'd definitely use the Hydra more (if I start to play agan one day) if it had better handling and the weapons it had back then in San Andreas. Those rockets were my childhood, lol. But two things that I think could be better are: 1: Give it dual 25mm non explosive cannons, just like the ones its real counterpart has, so the jet would have protection against other aircraft. 2: Make it a bit more agile and lower even more the auto stabilization, so it's more light, useful and realistic. It'd be really fun to perform some maneuvers in VTOL mode. Other than that, it's still much better than the current one we got.

Fun fact: Rockstar was actually going to make the Hydra like how it was in GTA SA with the dual rocket mechanic, but it was eventually scrapped since Rockstar thought it would have been too overpowered for ground targets and vehicles.
Id love a helicopter where you would have a working radar displaying aerial threats even if off radar, thermal and a variety of weapons. For the Pilot Strong MG pods or barrage missiles and a selection of homing missiles ranging from long range low tracking to very short range really high tracking. The Gunner should either get a Hunter Gun, Kosatka TV missiles with higher agility but lower range, Chernobog missiles with higher speed and slightly higher tracking but it only shoots one at a time or the Ability to launch slightly higher range Terrorbyte missiles which can lock on players. Would be a great addition. The Heli could be customised and would be countered by vehicles with Chaff and Explosive rounds
I think that would be best suited for a proper BVR combat jet, like if they add a version of the F-15 or F-22 they should make it have very long range air to air missiles

Those changes are amazing! You still keep the fun of raining down hell from the sky against ground targets effectively, but those VTOL changes are the best in my opinion

I agree with everything in this video except two things. 1: The take off speed might be a little too busted 2: The complete absence of any types of canon/machine gun, because then the hydra would be even more shit at dogfighting than it already is But in the overall that new hydra looks fun and nostalgic

I can't even remember when I last used my hydra. It has been a few years. It was cool then when it first came out. But it's just so slow, clunky, and obsolete by today's standards.
Im honestly not disappointed as it does need a nerf. Yesterday i literally got back in the cockpit of my hydra/laser (i use both) and it was very easy to get back into the groove of strafing clean strafing (no thermals)
I agree with things I think the canon should have been changed to a free aim explosive weapon (weaker than cannon not good enough to really destroy vehicles but do some hurting for ground units) bc it’s a harrier in gta 5 but everything else I agree. keep up the good work!!

If explosive rounds are still going to be a thing online Jets will never be the most powerful weapon in the game. At this point in online free roam the most popular weapons will always be the glitches and bugs like God mode and orbital Cannon.
Hydra and Lazer is SO overpowered that you have to compare it to godmode glitches and orbital cannon? Lol. At least orbital cannon is only 1 shot/kill, and you cannot spawn trap people over and over like with Jets. Jets are way more toxic than orbital cannon, IMO.
I don't see a reason for you not keep a machine gun like weapon in the Hydra, like, the barrel for the cannons are still there, it just looks silly not have something there, sure the cannons are busted, but couldn't those be replaced by something weaker? like weaker minigun rounds perhaps?

i think the only thing i'd change is one, slow firing, high power .50 cal mg dead center, something that fires quite slowly, but packs twice the damage of a heavy sniper shot, because that would allow it to retain it's dogfighting uses, even if it's not as good. if you did that then it'd be a good multi-role fighter jet. barrage missiles for ground targets, mg for planes, and high-accuracy homing missiles for smaller air targets such as mk2's and helicopters. the pyro is clearly designed for air-to-air with high-speed missiles and powerful MGs, the B-11 for ground assault with barrage missiles, explosive MG, and bombs for decimating ground targets, and homing missiles for defense (however air-to-ground assault craft are primarily going to be escorted by air-to-air fighters), the lazer is made for emergency, high payload assault missions, base decimation, and/or other situations where high damage in minimal time is required, with secondary use as an air-to-air combat jet and possibly escort, Rogue is made for multi-role missions with bombs for decimating ground targets, and then explosive MGs for ground or air targets, with the option for normal MGs for air targets if it's going to be going into an air-to-air combat situation, and the homing missiles for basic defense in air-to-air missions if required, and has a co-pilot seat for bombing and countermeasure usage, thus taking strain off the pilot and increasing endurance, the tula is made primarily to be an armored transport aircraft, with water landing and VTOL capabilities for special situations, the mogul is made for cargo and other small-equipment hauling, with secondary function as a bomber, equipment deployment with a basic turret and MG's for defense (in light of it's minimal weaponry, it should normally be escorted), the alkonost and volatol are large-area, bomber-dedicated aircraft, one of which designed with stealth in mind for high-hostility airspace, the other for high-capacity bombings, the bombushka is a cargo plane modified to suit combat and cargo hauling roles, the hunter is made for targeted assault againt ground targets with its barage missiles, bombs, and co-pilot's explosive cannon, and has homing missiles for air-to-air defense, the akula is made for stealth assault, recon, and some combat roles where stealth may be of use, for example escorting other aircraft in stealth mode to hide the number of escorts for a tactical advantage as any enemies will deploy less combat vehicles to attack, and then be overwhelmed by the aircraft upon leaving stealth mode, the annihilator stealth is made for troop carrying and deployment in high-hostility areas with stealth in mind, and has basic MGs for defense, along with barrage or homing missiles, the annihilator is made to be an armored crew carrying helicopter with powerful miniguns for self defense, and the valkyrie is made to be a highly armored troop carrier and equipment deployment craft, with secondary use as an escort vehicle when carrying a crew. these are the real-life uses for these aircraft (i listed the most notable ones), and if you redesigned the hydra, it would fit as the game's first multi-role jet, as the rogue is the only other multi-role aircraft.

This is Damn good work. But I do have to argue, the Hydra was a much better ground targeting vehicle, at least when used against more than a singular target. The hydra’s reduced speed means it turns easier, allowing for better adjustment during strafes, resulting in more hits, especially with console low render distance and lag in larger lobbies making map target tracking less reliable. The Lazer has much worse rudder control, both in sensitivity and because of speed induced under steer. This made it easier for the base hydra to blanket an entire street with fire? Rather than a single or pair of lanes, the increased time on a pass and the maneuverability made it better than the Lazer for large scale ground engagement. Covering fire for freemode events, large scale battles. While not the air superiority of a Lazer or the later smugglers run vehicles, It works far better for any task other than singular target, 90° strafes. Still, this adjustment carries over that niche it held, while making it more accessible, as well as defending against newer threats which pushed the Hydra out.
For a different VTOL jet, I would like a valkyrie like camera for the main pilot with a similar fire rate and maybe ever so slightly range buff. maybe to compensate, a slight debuff to fire rate. A sort of cannon inbetween the hunter and valkyrie cannon. It has the camera, but for the pilot instead. Sorta like the COD Modern Warfare VTOL jet. The cannon can be switched from this and also just firing normally in a dogfight. With maybe a 2 missile homing barrage. As for the handling, I was thinking something like the Nakota, or maybe a mix between that and the rogue.
I always wondered why vehicle missiles can be shot immediately. The game would already be much better if vehicle missiles required a proper lock on over several seconds.

Hydra is the best vehicle for grinding air freight cargo. Thanks to the vtol you can pick up crates way easily than with the lazer and there's a trick in high altitude with vtol which makes the hydra fast af (LS - Paleto in 15 seconds). Also it doesn't lack identity, it's extremely nostalgic to me because of gta SA (jumpjet cheat). Other than that a great video and rebalance
