  • As a former boat owner. Just got wayyyy to expensive to maintain and repair so sold them. But 2 things I see. 1. A LOT of Daddy’s or Mommy’s money or lottery winners (in life or really lottery$) meaning, I got the money lets go get the baddest boat I can because I can and only that. 2- I would say many of these “fishing yachts” have never seen a fish brought onboard. Kinda like the lifted truck with rubber band tires. Only goes to car shows never off road.

  • My first and only boat was an old used 15 foot runabout that I got for fishing and boating on lakes in the Midwest(Illinois), and on my maiden voyage the 40 horse Johnson had a fuel leak and it exploded, catching the back of the boat on fire. Luckily, I had a brand new fire extinguisher and got the fire out. The needle valve in the carburetor had vibrated loose and came all the way out and dumped fuel and the spark plug ignited it. It blew the cover off and up about 50 feet in the air and sounded like a stick of dynamite. Freaked me out. My girlfriend never went with me boating on it again. lol

It would have been an excellent video, but back then, we didn't have phones everywhere we went. It didn't discourage me though. I fixed the engine and I used that old boat for 5 years or so, before getting rid of it. Not too bad, for a thousand bucks.
