  • My mum (single mum) put me into boxing when I was 10 as she couldn’t cope with my behaviour. Within weeks I was a changed kid and can’t remember her ever telling me off again. Sport is so good for kids, I see it with my kids, specially out of season they change attitudes but In a sport season they are fantastic as they are focused. Everything Eddie said is so true. I’m so happy he is such a good ambassador for the sport I love and our country.

He doesn't really answer Pier's question on if if he sees a downside. You can just tell by how he uses his words that is isn't up for closing a door by being critical. He is a business man first and foremost and you don't go after some of the richest people in the world.

  • It kind of reminded of something about myself. I am quite hard on myself, and I am quite critical of others. My friends call me a wannabe life coach but for me, it's the way I was brought up. You work hard, you do well, your Dad says "okay, try harder", and you go back, and back and back, and work harder and harder, until the day comes he's so proud of you, you catch him crying with pride at one of your concerts. My favourite manager in work was also like this, he pushed me and pushed because he knew I could take it and come back stronger. However, this also means I'm like this with others and not everybody has the minerals and the soul made of stone to handle it and if you're not careful, they bury their head, ignore what you're saying and run away thinking it's only one persons view so it must be wrong. Like Eddie Hearn here, there's winning, and working hard and that's it.

    • So you compare "boxing" to one organisation in the mma world as in ufc..... Boxing organisations are all different as are the shows different promotions put on........ Not all mma shows and organisations deliver often let alone every time...... In ufc the rankings are stupid as like with satrs like mcgregor can lose then get the chance to go straight into a title fight instead of having to rebuild and "earn" the chance again.... Others who have worked for yrs and deserve the opportunity will get swiped aside for the likes of mcgregor that's been losing and inactive........ The fact you compare a whole sport and industry, organisations and promotions in the same bracket as one organisation in the mma world...... And you think the mma industry is "ufc" shows you don't have a clue and you're more kfc then ufc...... (sat in tap out top in the armchair).... "I would have jabbed more..... He should have used his left hook more....... If it was me I'd have took it to the ground"....... Carry on champ 🤦🏻‍♂️ embarrassing

  • I agree with teaching more resilience and not glorifying losing - but i have seen young teens give up because they have felt like they wasn't good enough, when the reality is, a good coach would of got them to the standard they needed to play...its a fine balance for sure. I teach my son that the first part of being great, is taking part. the next part is 100% efforts and a relentless attitude towards achieving the standard to participate in that sport on a competitive level - then finally - to top it off you will feel what its like to win. If he doesn't win, I tell him he has the first two parts of greatness down, keep going and that consistency will get the wins. He is an amazing little footballer with his own mind and understand his god given strengths

  • I must admit, its sad to see how money-orientated boxing is now. I remember growing up and watching boxing with my dad in the early 2000s. The amount of class and historic boxers I was able to watch, I will forever cherish. I was only able to watch these fights due to the amount of free and accessible tv channels that hosted boxing programs. Now, you have PPV fights, you have boxing fights that require high fees to experience, and you have a lack of emphasis for the heavyweight champions when at one point, they were the most preferred in all divisions. Its a catch-22. In one instance, I am super happy to see the position boxing is in, in relation to its prestige and popularity, on the other, it's incredibly inaccessible for the general jo blog.
