Awesome build! Thank you for the honest discussion and real world time expenditures. Great Video friend! Aloha
Thank you man! Appreciate you watching.
On ur next project where you do some welding, could you please go a little more in-depth on your welding setup. Ur vids are awesome, the detail really gives me a bit of confidence I could do it too. Appreciate you sharing. I have a small utility trailer I’m gonna do a super budget overland-ish to test my abilities before I decide to do a real build.
Sure thing! Thank you! Good luck on your build. Best thing you can do is practice!
@@Adv4x4 definitely will, hoping to snatch up a black fri deal
Let's assume you have 100 manhours, and just for arguments sake, we will bill this at $35 dollars an hour, for a total labor cost of $3,500 dollars, added to the material cost, and you end up with a quality camper that is WAY better than anything on the market today, and, in some cases, less than HALF the price. And the satisfaction of a job well done. This is why my wife and I do EVERYTHING ourselves here on our small ranch. Once again, fantastic job!!!
Thank you Charlie! Something about doing something yourself makes it 100x sweeter. Even if it’s not “perfect” it’s 100% yours
@@Adv4x4 "it’s 100% yours" ...and that, my friend, does indeed make it "Perfect"!!!
Regular self employed fabricators work for over triple that salary too lmao
@@ENVY____ I was being conservative, as a Journeyman pipefitter/fabricator and a Millwright, I can confirm you are correct.
Thanks buddy; you are not only a good builder; you are also a good instructor.
Very detailed and comprehensive. Real leg up for anyone wanting to take on such a project. Good work.
Appreciate you Mike!!
Great break down of the cost, your camper is simple but built really well. Awesome work and thank you for the short and to the point videos.
Thank you sir! I try to keep them information oriented!
Absolutely fantastic result. A job well done my friend. Congrats from across the pond. 👍🏻👊🏻
Thank you!
Great video! Very informative! Thank you!
Glad you found it useful!
Thanks for update, very interesting.
🎉 The Fireball Tool square!! For the win
I like that you took the time and used quality materials to make yourself something that will outlast Any wood built one on the market
Thank you!! Exactly what I was going for
Watched your build series. Well done!
Thank you!
How much does it weigh? And what’s the measurement from outside wheel to outside wheel
Sub'd! Awesome channel man, watched this series and a few of your other vids. After making a camper shell on my '09 2.7 Reg cab Taco, I've been flirting with the idea of making a small camper as you have (plus the girlfriend wants more space, especially with my dog haha, gets pretty cramped with camping trips, especially with gear). Thanks so much for putting this together, really great info here. You're a lot like myself!
Appreciate it man!!! Lots of fun doing diy projects as you know haha. Appreciate you watching!
What a sick build! Looking into making something similar but mounting it on a flat bed truck instead of a trailer
That will make things much simpler not having to make a trailer frame!
@@Adv4x4Or a suspension!
Did you use a cad program to design and build your trailer and if so what was it. And you trailer looks great 👍
Great video. Eye opener
Camper prices start to look more reasonable once you see the cost to build!
Yeah@@Adv4x4 I was expecting about $3,500. Still, that 6 isn't too bad considering the quality parts. My daughter wants me to build one so we can go camping like you. I think she is over our 8 man tent, because it takes forever to set up & pack
Those 8 man tents are great for space. But definitely more of a hassle to setup/breakdown. That’s how I camped my whole life until I was 22 and finally got a rtt 😂
Very nice MICRO that camper will last a long time nice professional build
Thank you Brad!
Great build. Currently trying to design a trailer. For your aluminum composite, what thickness did you go with? 3mm vs 6mm. How is the raptor lining holding up?
Wow I just watched the whole series and honestly I thought it would have cost more nice. I'm about to start a build myself just got the trailer to start 🤞
Much cheaper then buying one outright! Haha
Did you have an app that you designed the measurements on if so that wouod be appreciated
I think that price is very cheap, especially since Covid. All prices are insane now. Plus if you have all the tools, that looks like a fun build. Nice job on the trailer.
Was a blast to build!
@Adv4x4 Whats the final weight of the camper?
This is pretty cool. Also pretty spendy. Thank you.
It’s nice to see the real cost!
"Spend more on?" Who you callin' a moron? Figure 100 hours at $50/hr and the total comes in around $11,000, with about half of it labor. You have a real talent for the work and the video presentation. Very impressive, young man.
Nice Job
Appreciate it Jack!
Can you build one that can connect to a E bike
Looks great Where did u buy the aluminum panels for the outside Thx
Thanks! Check the description all parts linked!
Curious how that Alupoly composite sign board has held up as the exterior sheathing on this, might use it for my own build, seems like a nice light alternative to plywood.
It’s held up great! No issues at all
Great series of videos on this little trailer. I appreciate the detailed cost breakdown -- you went into way more detail than any of the similar videos. Did you ever weigh the finished trailer? Very curious how much she weighs.
Thanks Man! Details are what I enjoy!! Still haven’t had the chance to weigh it🫣 for sure under 1k lbs!
@@Adv4x4 Watched the timelapse again...a single sheet of ACM doesn't flex too much as the floor? That surprised me -- I would have thought it would flex too much.
After the ACM then insulation board, then the hardwood floors it’s plenty stout!
How much travel do you get out of that suspension?
I want to get into projects like this but I've never welded and know almost nothing about it. Did you use flux welding function in these videos or MIG? Any advice for starting welding would be awesome! Thanks
I used MIG! It’s worth buying the gas and welding with MIG you will see much better results then flux core welding! I use a Klutch welder from northern tool. Cheap unit!
When you factor the cost of buying something similar would be upwards of 10k I say it's a good price to build your own
The plastics he used for the outside walls did he have to paint them or dos the writing peel off in a big film strip?
The panels are 3mm aluminum composite sheets! The film peels off to reveal the white coating, I did not have to paint!
Is it for sell as it looks awesome or even do you have any blue prints? I would love this to camp in northern ontario canada
Thanks Shawn! Check the description of the video I have links to blueprints! The camper itself is not for sale
Did you ever weight it?
I have only stick welded, but with the wire welding (mig, tig, what ever it’s called) can you do just the wires with no gas? I thought you could.
That would be considered “flux core” welding. Yes it works, but the results are less then desirable in my opinion. You are much better learning & will yield much better results on a MIG (Metal In Gas) setup!
@@Adv4x4 thanks.
@@Adv4x4 oh, do I have to purchase the tank and then buy gas or do they (companies) rent the tanks?
💪
Discovered your time lapse and now consuming more of your content. Have you ever gotten a laden and unladen weight? Great stuff would like to consider getting your plans someday.
I have not! According to my math it comes in under 1000lbs
@@Adv4x4 great thanks! I am looking to build something very light for pulling behind an EV6... Still very early stages but I may be buying your plans and modifying to optimize for me needs. Thanks!
Awesome!! Goodluck!
Where did you get the camper door without ordering from dealer?
Check the description of the video! Everything linked there
Nice stuff. Are you able to build it for me?
I would love build something like but a little bigger for my four nieces
Go for it man! Fun project
@@Adv4x4 currently trying to learn how to weld so that I can do something like this
What hitch did you use up front?
Everything is linked in the description! But I used lock n roll hitch systems
I just built and sold a 5x8 teardrop camper. I was surprised at the prices for the supplies. $800 in Filon, $500 for a door, windows were $200 each, plywood was $100 a sheet. I finished with $5200 in it and sold it for $6000. Not something I would do again.
No doubt! Adds up fast
What's the dimensions?
After the micro campers complete what is a fair price that this micro camper could sell for?
That’s hard to call honestly! Depends on what someone is willing to pay. Don’t plan on selling though! Love it too much
How does a trailer behave at speed?
It does well! It’s been 80+ mph no issues
Any idea on the weight?
If I had to guess somewhere under 1k lbs
Did you put any breaks to your trailer?
I did not!
How many hours did it take to build?
I did not keep track on this one but it was definitely more then my last build which was I think about 60 hours. Doesn’t seem like much but an hour or 2 here and there is how it went so that can stretch things out a bit
@@Adv4x4 Thanks! I really want to build one and might follow along with what you did! Awesome job.
Appreciate it man! It was a lot of fun to built
The price isn't that bad. Theres some tiny coleman campers near where I live that are just a little bigger but costs 15k or 16k. They have a rear kitchen and an ac unit (that runs off shore power). Not worth it imo
Right! DIY price is very reasonable. Once you build one you can start to see why they are priced the way they are after you calculate material cost and labor
how much does it weigh?
I estimate under 1000lbs
@@Adv4x4 thinking about doing a similar project and towing it with a 2014 Passat
