  • Painting the frame to fight against future dry rot was a good use of your time especially if the lumber is not pressure treated.

    • Yes it sure is! Plus in my experience treated wood and aluminum do not go well together. Caused oxidation on mine.

  • Instead of using carpet. I bought a gallon of roof mastic roof coating and added a lot of pumice to it. Non slip. Water tight, water proof. 2 coats will give you 10 solid years. I built my deck the same way. So I can pop it out for whatever reason. I also have places to insert hammock poles.for my hammock tent. And a fiberglass rib system with a buttoned custom heavy tarp that attaches along the rim of the hull. To enclose the whole boat into a tent and I sleep on the deck in heavy rain. Or only the front 2/3 of the boat if I have to drive it in heavy rain. 3 small anchors and I’ve gone out in the glades for 4 days with it( if I had more time I would have stayed longer). Lots of affordable fun.

  • I built mine almost exactly the same framed out wise. I put my frame on top of the bench seat to ad a shallow compartment for small storage. I I did run a 2x4 down the sides to get rid of the flex like you said and it’s awesome. Mines an alumacraft 1436. I haven’t figured out what to do in the back yet. I want to make something like y’all did just to cover the clutter of the batteries. Keep it up it’s looking awesome. Better than mine by a lot.

    @lmaoatstupid408@lmaoatstupid4085 жыл бұрын
    • lmao atstupid thank you! I bet the supports help. The flex isn’t extremely bad, but it would make me feel a little better if it was there

    • Honestly after watching my footing today on the lake I don’t know if it would matter that much because my feet barely ever got close to the side that would have felt soft. I don’t remember what y’all said that boat was size wise but me and my buddy spent 5 hours out today on mine and I really tried to see how much I step over that far and it isn’t all that much.

  • Great job on budget built a couple of things .on the battery area I would have went all the way back and let it be a slide out with your straps. Side supports on front deck . Maybe use fiberglass coating after sealing wood for longer lasting please don't take any offense at my comments chris

  • Love this! When we go on road trips playing "yellow car" with the kids, you get 1 point for each yellow car you see (and you get 3 points for each boat you see left out in the elements uncovered). The winner gets to choose where to eat dinner.

    • We played punch buggy. With VW bugs. And at night we played pediddle. Cars with one headlight out. 1point , trucks two points, buses or tractor trailers 5 points. Motorcycle with only one head light is a bad call , it’s a punch in the leg or arm.

  • So I've been watching your 16' boat build a lot and I want to do my boat almost exactly like it because it's freaking awesome. I was wondering how much it cost you to put in the decks and livewell and carpet and everything not including the batteries and trolling motor. I'm a high school student and I'm worried about possibly getting into a build that ends up being too expensive for me to finish. I know this video is about a budget boat, but I do have enough saved up to make mine better than this one, but I would very much appreciate any information. Thanks

    @davidchappell6225@davidchappell62255 жыл бұрын
    • It’s not expensive at all. About 900 and that’s including 2 trolling motors and batteries. Maybe 400 for jus the boat and decks. Which my boat was old I paid 200 for it. Had to fix a few leaks and paint it.

  • Won’t the mounts for the 2x4’s hurt the aluminum? Dissimilar metals.

    @joebidensdiaper8526@joebidensdiaper85264 жыл бұрын
    • Hey truth dissimilar metals, hahahaha ...one is wood.

      @kingtut5923@kingtut59233 жыл бұрын
    • KING TUT A dissimilar metal example would be attaching anything to an aluminum boat using steel or metal screws. It produces rust and will destroy your boat over the years. SS is the best option of aluminum rivets aren’t available, but SS will also cause issues.

    • It will make the boat less balanced in the water. Quick movements from an angler can throw off the other person if your not careful. Both of us are around the 185lb range and it’s not bad at all, really comfortable for us
