One tip that Im surprised more people don’t know about is if you scroll down a page in any app, if you tap in the space above the Dynamic Island and below the earpiece, it will automatically scroll you back to the top of the page.
Cheers!
You can tap anywhere in that notification bar area and it'll scroll up.
Yeah this is really handy feature, miss it when i am using android phone
Yeah but I hate the fact that if you do this, I don’t know if a gesture to automatically go back down though… now I have to scroll for 5 minutes with 30 swipes up
You can always swipe right and left in the calculator app to delete digits. Great video as usual!
How about swiping between apps by simply swiping on the bottom bar? No swiping up to open the app tray; just swipe left and right on the ever-visible thin grey bar. If you don’t interact with the app you swipe to, the previous app will be to the right. If you _do_ interact with the app, it changes behaviour and will be on the left side. It stores the ‘last interacted with app’ on the far right. Try it 🙂
Great tip, thank you!
Double tap on the back to open the camera is a game changer. Thanks
Tom, I learn something from every one of your videos - thanks! In fact, I save them in a YT tech support playlist for future reference. My young adult granddaughter thinks her 75 yo nana is a luddite, so I really appreciate your help in keeping up!
I love these videos! Even though I have been using iPhone since the 3G, every one of your videos contains multiple things I did not know so have shared them with many friends as well. Thanks for your excellent content.
The pinch and push to copy and paste makes sense when you think of copy and pasting to a different device. Picking up the words and dropping them on the next screen.
The best feature for navigating and moving the cursor was actually with 3D touch which Apple ditched for no good reason. You could press hard onto the display to activate it and then move across the whole screen to move the cursor around. The implementation was so fast and precise that it was like a mouse on a PC compared to a trackpad. I still miss that feature , as the spacebar thingy is just not as fast and precise.
Yeah, I just upgraded from 6S to 13 Pro and I miss that the most. I knew I was gonna lose it and I'm glad you can still move the cursor but it's much worse for the reasons you mentioned but a lot because you can't select words with one finger. You can select but only if you use another finger but it's really weird so might as well tap the word or erase it with backspace. It shouldn't have been removed but the reason was to make the screen thinner.
As a new Apple customer, this is another great and very helpful video. Thanks 👍
As a newly qualified OAP, I find your videos absolutely brilliant. Clear, concise and no distracting Muzak! … thank you so much; you’ve just gained a new subscriber! Thanks again 😊
Good stuff, as usual! Thanks!
I actually knew a couple of them! I find your site full of great information!
I have already known someways but after I watched your videos, I gained new experiences. So thank you 🎉
I did learn some new ones! (1-finger map zoom and volume, stacks, and tap-&-drag to scroll.) 3-finger push to Paste was my favorite recent discovery - much easier than carefully placing the cursor to get the little menu, now that the magnifier is gone.
I love watching your channel. It never fails to blow my mind with my iPhone will do if I just knew how to do it. Thank you.
Thanks! I knew most of these but learned a couple I was unaware of and another 3 I had forgotten about. Well done!
Great information. I’ll try these. Thanks.
Thank you for your sharing in your videos and always in a perfectly understandable English .
Regarding the “Undo” feature, it’s good to note you can do multiple Undo requests, by shaking after each Undo command is selected.
Amazing content as always. I look forward to your next video very eagerly.
Always learn something new! Thanks 🙏
So cool! Thank you so much for this informative video on iPhone gestures. You’ve just made life so much better by reducing time needed to do various tasks. I also tried some gestures on the iPad which also work 👍👍👍👍
Very helpful video, thanks!!
Thank you! Great tips, great channel! 🎉
I learned some very useful tips. Thank you.
Fab tips! Thanks for sharing.
10:06 you can also swipe up and browse through your tabs like the app switcher.
Great tips, thanks!
Great tips, thank you
Thanks, I appreciate the tips. I'm still learning new shortcuts occasionally. I've been an Apple user since the original iPad and the iPhone 6; Currently have an iPhone 13 and an iPad Pro Gen 1. I will probably upgrade to the new iPad Pro and latest iPhone next year to transition to USB C connections.
Another one bookmarked to watch a couple more times; thank you!
It’s good to note that, double and triple tapping only works when you have the keyboard visible/the cursor blinking. This won’t work if you are in “reading mode” (for example in Notes).
I am new on The iPhone world. But with your Chanel Im already almost a Profi. Tranks a lot
Great stuff. Thank you.
Great video which is very handy, thanks
Great tips for this senior. 👍
Just brilliant as always
I didn’t know many of the Notes gestures, thanks!
Wonderful video, as usual. I'm not sure how I didn't find Back Tap before, but it's like having two new "action" buttons! Now to make it practical or to make it cause my car to perform an "emissions test." 🤔
In gallery or in any other app to move all the way up you can tap on time in the toolbar section
Swipe the bottom of the screen left or right to switch between recent apps. Works with older devices also if you first "lift" slightly from the bottom of the screen before swiping.
Thank you!
Very useful sir
Thank you again! And again and again.
I didn't know of any of these iphone. secrets. Thank you for all of your information It's very informative and very educational. I hope I can remember half of what you just said on your video I will just have to look at this video over and over again and try to remember all the secrets that my iphone could do. Thanks again.
When you use the spacebar as a trackpad you can actually use your other finger to select text. Place your cursor where you want to start selecting text by holding the spacebar with finger1 and then touch the keyboard with finger2 while still holding finger1, then use finger1 to place the cursor wherever you want and in so doing selecting the text in between.
Brilliant. Thank you. New sub.
THANKS PROPER 🤗 PRACTICAL TIPS 👍
One handed zoom in Maps is incredibly helpful! Thank you!!
Learned a bunch of new things from this video. Thanks.
You're welcome - Glad you're enjoying the content! 🙌🏻
That was brilliant!! - thanks
1:12 I found (by accident) that I could use the little bars at both ends of the highlighted text to extend or reduce the area highlighted: just press, hold & drag on the little bar.
Your are the best !!!! Thanks you very much
Thanks so much! I saved this one in my favs file, 'cause once is just not enough! ;) ♥
Good ones dude 👍👍👍
So glad you showed the easy way of how to move an app to another page.👌
9:18 also one tip is to use two fingers and moving cursor around with more precision. Love it. Great video.
Love it. Thank you. Like.
I knew about half of these, but the undo trick and the copy and paste trick are new for me. Holy cow that's freakin' cool!
You can “redo” by swiping 3 fingers left to right. K
Best video so far
Keep up the good work 👍🏻
You can also use both the double and triple back tap to do two different things. I use the double tap to open up control centre and the triple tap to take a screenshot. It’s one of the most powerful tools Apple has given us and is infinitely more powerful than the action button alone. I use it nearly every day for both options!
How does that work? Triple tap takes a screenshot?
The most important thing I learned on this video was REACHABILITY!! AND that it can be set to function from a button!! Great News!
All Android users experience experience a lack of REACHABILITY since their back button WAS bottom right whereas Apple has it placed top left. Make a video on JUST THAT ONE GESTURE and you will double your subscriptions in a month!
Learned a lot on this video
For years I have wondered how to type the degree symbol. I mow know, thank you.
In the settings app, if you are in a deep submenu, you can also hold the button in the top to go back up more levels at once...
thanks for this fun video :D
8:04 This is my favorite! I use it everyday to delete junk SMSes and emails!
Useful faffless video - thank you
Another wonderful and very helpful video! 😮So many things I don’t know about my phone! Thank you!!!
Hi! You mentioned you don't understand the pinch copy and paste. It's really simple. It's for the ecosystem. If you copy something using the three finger pinch, it copies it across all your devices, so you can paste it in anywhere. Hope that helps!
Using spacebar as a trackpad is dope feature !! I was bewildered to discover this !!
It’s great fun to watch this on an iPad while (or whilst-I’m American and we don’t say whilst, but you make it sound cool) simultaneously duplicating your actions on my iPhone. The only difficulty is that the content is so dense and goes by so fast that by the time I can do it you’re already on to the next one! (Or even the next two.) This isn’t a criticism; it’s easy enough to pause and back up the video. But maybe you could do another version of the same content (or edit an existing video) to be 2x to 4x longer, giving people more time to find their way along with you. It’s truly great content! Perhaps you could get twice as many views by creating a slowed down version which makes it easier to follow along. I’d even be tempted to watch it at half speed if such an option existed. This could also be an accessibility feature, since your amazing instructions sometimes go by so quickly that it’s hard to keep up. Again, this is not a criticism; your content is among (amongst?) the best I’ve ever seen online. Considering that by “online” I’m referencing the sum total of human experience across millennia, that’s high praise indeed.
Another one. On Safari, when in the ‘view open tabs’ area, hold the + button in the bottom left to see your browsing History 🙂
The swiping to navigate works also in other apps, not only settings. I did know them all but the one to select a bunch of emails with two fingers which I’m t totally going to use now! Tried the copy and push with pictures cause it works also between different devices (an iPhone and an iPad for example) but it wasn’t really reliable.
For text selection, there’s another method which I use all the time. Double tap on the first word you want to select, but keep your finger on the screen on the second tap. Then, drag your finger across the text you want to select - up or down, or just swiping to the side if it’s just a few words. Incredibly quick once you get the hang of it, and perfect for selecting bits of sentences, a paragraph or whatever.
WOW! Thank you!
Treasure chest! Thank you!
Quick double tap at the very top of the screen will jump you back to the top of the page. Now if there a quick way to the bottom ? Besides the scroll bar, which was useful btw
thx!
Flawless, high quality like always. Love and regards from India, mate
Wonderful video! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with Luddites like me! I’ll be watching this one several times as you have included too many useful things to remember in one viewing! There was something about getting a weekly note from you - please tell me how to subscribe. Many thanks!
The 3-finger pinch I sometimes use if there is no way of pasting things. Just because the option is missing.
ty pht
I recently transferred to iOS from android i knew everything in the video except the safari back button hold feature Thanks man
Great content!! Question on Back Tap, can that be set up for a Screen Recording? Looking for a quick way to do a Screen Recording without going to Control Center.
Thankyou :)
Hold down back button on safari 🤯🤯🤯🤯 Thanks for the tips boss, cheers!
2:25 this is interesting, I almost always try to keep a clean “opened apps” amount. I always felt that the more you have running, the more stain on your power and processing. It seriously is harder on to phone to close then out rather than just leave them running?
Use spacebar to select text : press and hold spacebar and touch the keyboard once with other finger, now just drag and select text. Quick insert special characters: while typing click on Number key and drag to the character/number and release.
Love your videos. Professional and informative. Are there any apps that you should not leave open for fear of using battery? I used to regularly close all apps but after your advice now leave them all open
Personally, I leave apps open all the time, and every few days I go to the far left and close apps which I’m confident I won’t open again for weeks.
I’ve seen the swiping left or right on a page before but I sometimes can’t get it quite right and it’ll wiggle instead and not swipe overboard
Lots of grest tips here. Also: Swipe back on the calculator to delete numbers
Swell video, thanks a bunch. I think this double-tap feature in messages, quite useful, even though I think the way that whatsapp chose a lot better and more intuitive. What I can‘t understand is that the double-tap doesn’t work on my M1 iPad Air 5 though. Greetings from Switzerland 🇨🇭
Thank you for the video. I would like to find a way to select all the text in a safari page like ctrl+a in windows. Is there way for it. Like the one you showed for Notes (triple touch)
Still wondering what keyboard you have on your desk? Oh, yes, video was amazing as always 😀
I am going abroad can you show us how to use the iPhone abroad using notes, translate. Keep up the good work
Pinch copy/paste use case: when I try to copy a url, it preselects the entire thing when selecting the address bar. I have to deselect it and triple tap just right to get it to reselect the entire thing and give me the haptic menu. With the pinch copy, I can just pinch whenever text is selected. I recognize this is somewhat of a niche case, but being a recent android convert, this is the only way I could find to copy without deselecting and dragging the cursors.
I’m trying use the technique within the photos app for selecting multiple images diagonally. I am able to do this from lower corners but when I try the top left down diagonally, the photos just go up and down. Am I doing something wrong or maybe a setting.
Is that a quick way to select and delete messages within one user?
