I got the Slash Bl-2s and have been racing it at my local hobby track. Won 2 podiums in the novice class against some buggies. Ordered a bunch of upgrades to compete against the teknos. Racing is incredibly fun 😂
I just bought my first slasher and probably going to take some time getting used to it and other rc’s. How does one get into racing? Are there certain classes/models you can only run?
Talking with your local hobby shops is best I belive
My first proper RC was a heavily used 2wd VXL Slash., since sold. Fast, but far from a great car. Could take a massive beating though & I then explored better options as I became more experienced. As a first proper RC basher, a brushless Slash is a tough rig that may not drive as nicely as many others, but will let you learn a lot & is a very forgiving & cheap to keep rig.
What do you mean by drive as nice? Are you referring to handling? Im a noobie looking at something cheap to maintain. Do you think I should go with this or something entry level from Arrma? Maybe a senton or bigrock?
@@vee6411 I now have a Senton 3S as my basher & if I was starting out again, that's the way I'd go. Just be careful of rocks jamming the steering; I got a net that goes over the inner chassis which has fixed it. Other that that, it's a great truck. Fast, handles decently & is tough.
I put Anaconda tires on mine, use plastic skateboard ramps and cones ... and my driveway becomes a track in less than 3 minutes!
I do that too! It so fun to build our own track! Have a nice day dude!
@@XEric30 thank you for being the nicest post responder in the history of the internet.
Wish I could 😭 4 cars in my driveway and no room in the garage cuz more whips 😅
Greg, watching from Alnwick 🇬🇧 UK. Good stuff man, love the Traxxas content. Cheers 🍻
Thanks so much my friend! So cool to see where people are watching from. 😃
It was my first electric ⚡️. Mine still runs like new. I upgraded the shocks and added rustler all-terrain wheels. Use a vw bug body and paddle tires for the sand.
Stock shocks bend after a while
Love the clipless body mounts....that new system looks real smooth.....😎👍
Yup, and it locks in. Never popped out after any crash.
@@rcdriverHow are the mounts attached to the underside of the body?
@@mikeruhl they are screwed in from the bottom.....covers up the original body holes.....
Only Traxxas can sell you an ancient car with cheap and underpowered brushless system as „new“ for that kind of money.. it‘s a nice car anyway.
My honest opinion: traxxas this time did aomething good, instead of pushing just the brushless upgrade they put in the bl2s, vlipless body, heavy duty parts, if they have added also a better metal servo and LCG it would have been an already upgraded brushless car that does not need anything. It is an old platform but sells A LOT
Brushed is an outdated technology. This isn’t supposed to be an upgrade to brushed systems, it’s most likely an eventual replacement.
It’s a replacement and it’s tons if fun, stays cool and has really quick acceleration
Can you do a review on the GoolRc brushless motor 3500kv please 🙏
I really want a slash now ❤
Wish they made a clipless body conversion for the older rustler vxl
Did you by it at gillimods too I don't live far from.there and would love a chance to drive there track to.
Down side of the clipless body mounta is no more aftermarket bodies. I like my Pro-Line truck bodies
Have you tried....I'm looking into putting them on a proline body I have.....
@@paulpadilla5288Good point. I haven't actually seen them. How are they attached to the body? Velcro?
@@mikeruhl they are screwed in from underneath......really secure....and strengthen the body.....worth every penny....
Thx- low center of gravity chassis kit $39 azn
Like the truck. Like the review.
Cool truck
$270 is a good price for a 2wd brushless 👍
Have the 2WD the same upgrade parts as the 4WD?
Cool!😎 👍👌
Seems like a bad place or the steering servo? Wouldnt it brake gping off jumps at some point?
I have an autistic 17 yr old boy who just wants to rip it around our yard and have a solid RC he can count on being ready to play with without too much maintenance or stress would this be a good pick?
Absolutely!
How change drive gear
Meu sonho de consumo Um dia eu consigo comprar um
Can’t run on 3s battery?
Huge improvements since it's debut huh? I remember testing one for another publication, ( cough cough) and I told them, "better and me a Robison spur ". I skate parked the original and with the exception of the spur, it took a beating! It will always be one of my favorite stable vehicles!
Didn't they upgrade the shock towers & put some RPM similar parts but made by Traxxas?? A-arms n' axle & so on? 🤔
They did on the 4x4, but not the 2wd.
@@rcdriver That's 🆒 they did it to the 4X4 but they should have done it to both of their newer cars just to help out people that are beginners so they don't smash their car up right away! Traxxas makes a 💰🤑💰FORTUNE💰 🤑 💰 on parts! God bless 🙏💯🙏👊👍
My xl5 goes the same speed
This signals the death of body pins, and brushed motors for traxxas
Only in America a person would design a left-turn-only, non-oval, off-road track.
The 2wd version is way better than the 4wd version....get so many rocks in my centershaft and it killed the spur bearings and driveshafts....
There's just better options than the Slash out there nowadays, especially when you consider the price.
Im curious what some of these might be? Xmas shopping for my boy...

The Traxxas will always be the easiest to repair, have the easiest parts to source, and have infinite aftermarket support no matter what. People say the Slash is outdated, but the great thing about an ancient platform is that there is so much support for it from all angles.
@@RandomCommenter-qu2oc maybes in your country, but around the world it definitely varies 🤷♂️
Way overpriced, the 4x4 BL-2S is only $50 more and has all the heavy duty upgrades.
That’s because they are going to sell a bunch more 2wd than 4wd for spec racing.
I like my VXL better 👍
Unless you upgrade the slash, it'll always be a POS. The graphics suck imo. I had the 2012 version and it was junk. So no thanks
