I don’t understand how they always manage to get her sound so clear live. She is a killer of control and precision but she also has the most amazing sound engineer because singing so softly live usually results in no sound coming through. This is brilliant.

She doesnt have a strong voice so she sounds so quiet when singing so they add a lot of reverb on the mic to make her sound more majestic. The reverb acctually is a very good trick to make it sound angelic. But she is also choir trained i guess.

@@storygroove well i'll admit until recently i hadn't taken the time to really listen to her. being 70 and growing up on 60/70's rock i found it difficult to find anything listenable sice, and i've found that with the advent of the internet and autotune there is a hell of a load of crap out there. with all the hype and publicity shoved down our throats as soon as i see abc in my feed i switch off completely. i'm not directing that at solely for the girls but i had heard a few of them and thought WTF is that, and then saw the videos and thought yeah, ok shes showing next weeks laundry, thats the sell. with billie i heard a couple of songs years back but found the vocals too whispery, too far back in the mix, and as i didn't care much for the tune itself i didn't follow up. by accident i found myself watching the channel where guests get to eat chicken wings, and the chilli dip gets hotter and hotte, and she was on it. within a minute it was a case of wow, this girl is so laid back and witty, and that voice got me thinking of a revisit. so next time there she was in my feed, and it was ocean eyes, and that was the clincher for me, i could hear her clearly and she has a voice. i've watched a few others, and although the songs are still not to my taste i stay to listen to her voice, and that video in the shopping mall is so fun. love her style, her humour and the voice.

@@TofuTeo I think she's alto for sure could be contralto like the other person said. Alto people could reach higher note but do not do it often because it's outside of their comfortable singing zone. Other notable alto singers would be Cher and Adele!
