Billie Eilish: Tiny Desk (Home) Concert

The Tiny Desk is working from home for the foreseeable future. Introducing NPR Music's Tiny Desk (home) concerts, bringing you performances from across the country and the world. It's the same spirit - stripped-down sets, an intimate setting - just a different space.
Aug. 26, 2020 | Stephen Thompson -- It didn't take long for Billie Eilish to become one of the biggest pop stars in the world, sweep the Grammy Awards' major categories and release the latest James Bond theme. And today, at just 18, she and her brother, Finneas, have accomplished what no one has been able to do for five and a half months: perform a Tiny Desk concert in what certainly appears to be the NPR Music offices.
Of course, due to safety concerns, even the NPR Music staff can't set foot in the building that houses Bob Boilen's desk. But if you look over Eilish's shoulder, there's no mistaking the signs that she's appearing at the Tiny Desk in its present-day form: On the last day before staff began working from home, I took home the Green Bay Packers helmet that sat on the top shelf - the one Harry Styles had signed a few weeks earlier - for safe keeping. In this performance, that spot is empty.
So how the heck did they do it?
Honestly, it's best that you watch the whole video to experience the extent of the technical feat - which, in the spirit of Eilish's Saturday Night Live performance, they're willing to share with you. And thankfully, we still have our ways of photographing the desk, even if the room has fallen silent.
So settle in for a welcome jolt of Tiny Desk innovation, not to mention two of the excellent standalone singles Billie Eilish has released in the past year: "my future" and "everything i wanted." And, seriously, be sure to watch until the very end.
SET LIST
"my future"
"everything i wanted"
MUSICIANS
Billie Eilish: vocals, keys; Finneas: keys, guitar

    • 7:30 I keep going back to that part, her smile and spark is such an epic reaction. Billie was getting into her feels and didn't come in on time, but finneas was also into it and just singing and playing away. I love this pair and how much they convey a love of music, and love of their own music.

    • I am alot older than Billie and Finneas, but I love their music and their close bond. Her voice is beautiful. You do not hear voices like hers. (now everyone is singing her music. I dislike like singers trying to imitate the sound of her voice). She is a beautiful young lady inside and out. I wish them continued success. :-)

    • Yes he is most definitely not under-rated. He will never be as famous as Billie unless people buy and stream his solo music. If you care about that sort of thing, that is what you should do. He probably couldn't care less - his life is great as it is & he is not burden with needing security guards in his private life. He has talked about how he dislikes being called "underrated". I personally find Billie charismatic and unusual, plus she has a velvet voice and she owns the stage. I find Finneas' solo music too adult contemporary.

      @pshort3518@pshort35183 жыл бұрын
    • @@thuanhdo9597 He was nominated for a bunch of solo VMAs. If you bothered to vote and organized a bunch of other fans to vote, maybe he would have won. He couldn't have won more solo Grammys as he didn't present any solo content to them for nomination. It doesn't just magically happen. 5 Grammys is far more than almost anyone could win in their dreams. He has a fantastic reputation in the industry and is not underrated at all. He is just not as famous as Billie and never will be unless he has solo hit records. That will happen if you buy them and encourage others to. If not, he won't. Period. There is a vast difference between "underrated" and "not a superstar".

    • The key is not to allow others to influence what you do and do not like, regardless of whether something is popular/mainstream or not. It's so weird that there are people who hate things purely because they are popular.

Really all of their stuff does cause I've gone back and listened to it after hearing this tiny desk. Great job. Love it. Always stay true to your muse.
