In this video I will show restoration of the World War I bayonet. This is a Mannlicher M1888 bayonet knife for a Mannlicher rifle. This bayonet was done over 100 years ago during World War I. This bayonet has been in the ground more than 100 years!

While tidying up my workshop, I noticed fragments of three rusty bayonet knives. I felt bad about throwing them away, so I decided to see if I could make one bayonet out of three. Evaluate the result of my work.
I wonder if it wouldn't be better to weld the blade to the handle and then install the crossguard. I know it would be more work for you, but the blade would be way stronger. I feel like the blade could detach from a more violent move. But it looks very good either way
Truly, an amazing result! Black nickel plating is something I've never seen before, definitely something to try.
*_Another masterpiece! Such a pleasure to watch! Thank you 💕_*
Wow, turned out excellent. And with the black nickel and those wooden grips, it looks even better than the original :)
Super restoration, i never expected these posibillities with heavy rust pittting. I like your technic
Amazing talent, thank you !!
I never comment or like videos. The amount of work you put into this piece, the amount of filing alone, deserves both. Jesus Christ. Good job, man.
Great restoration fella the nickel plating makes it look really good. Well done great job.
Beautifully crafted. Sehr schön.
I soldered with a copper-silver(45%Ag) solder. This is the solder used to solder the carbide tips on metalworking tools.
AMAZING. Well done. Fine.
it is a true master's work. Congratulations on your dedication and effort!
Beautiful, thank you
Excellent video, just one observation and question at a time: why wasn't the blade welded with stainless steel and then assembled? Saludos desde Tachira - Venezuela.
Looks great, well done.😊
Amazing and beautiful 👏👏👏👏
Very very good job !!!
Beautiful.
Excellent restoration! Very well done...turning otherwise scrap into "a pretty good souvenir."
Thank you!
Very good restoration!👍
I watch and am amazed.
Sei veramente bravo. Complimenti sinceri. Bellissimo video e restauro fantastico. Grazie
Thanks for watching
Very good❤
Magnificent restaurant job 😊
Very impressive.
AWESOME
very nice
Very good job
In my opinion this is the one is your best restoration. Maybe I would have tempered the blade instead of nickel plating it.
Great video.
Gutt gemacht +5like100%
Very nice work. Can you describe the process for the ones that doesn't know anything
Good job brother
Just a disclaimer this only works if the knife is intended for display use if you do this to a knife that will be exposed to rougher conditions it will most definitely break
You are absolutely right, this knife is made purely for demonstration purposes. I'm not going to go to war or hunting with it.
Nice to see this Austrian bayonet back in shape. Can you restore the Empire next would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance
Wow😍😍😍😍👍🏻
Very good job. How to get these bajonets? Thanks
Thank you! Unfortunately these items are not for sale
just got one recently
only thing i seen was brazeing wont hold up with stress the 2 pieces of blade needed to be tig welded together but if your only displaying this is good enough
WHERE DID U GET THEM BEEN LOOKING FOR BAYONETS AND OLD KNIVES LIKE THAT TO PLAY WITH E BAY ONLY HAS HIGH DOLLER ONES I LIKE RUSTY STUFF CHEEP OLD ANTIQUE GUNS TOY TRUCKS ETC
Hey just saying for an idea Tin has a lower melting point then lead and I melt my lead over a open fire in a cast iron pot So what if you got a cast iron pot of some size filled it with tin melt it and then after you do all the prep work like usual you can just dip the bayonet sheath into the melted tin instead of manually applying it all over I don’t know just an idea of mine
Yeah, good idea, thank you.
If you do try it heat up the metal your gonna dip so you don’t get a steam explosion Just put the bayonet of helmet or whatever in a fire first or put a blowtorch to it to dry it off Just be safe
do you live somewhere around Petersburg?
Did you Soder the 3 pieces of the bayonet together? is that strong enough for that ?
I soldered with a copper-silver(45%Ag) solder. This is the solder used to solder the carbide tips on metalworking tools.
I soldered with a copper-silver(45%Ag) solder
Sad restore. Why did you not weld the blade?
I hope there are no scammers using this channel name..!
I'm sure the grip won't fall off. I soldered with a copper-silver(45%Ag) solder. This is the solder used to solder the carbide tips on metalworking tools.
Amazing Restoration 👍🏽👍🏻👍
Where did you dig them up from?

Yes, you're right, but the most important thing is the restoration process :)
