Their helmets are usually in much better condition too if that's what you like as they weren't on the frontline. I like Wehrmacht or Luft! all of it is great history

If you dont mind me asking, how much did it cost you? I thought I heard you say you bought it from the USA and I live in the US. Very nice helmet. I just started collecting around a couple months or so, the M1 helmet and I have been wanting a German M40, but i dont want to buy a clone or fake so thank you for sharing your experience and information on the M40

A helmet like this from a decent dealer will be minimum of $1000 in my experience (yep prices are going up and up!) I got this one for around that. I can't say much about US dealers as I've only found a few by accident really, as it's harder for me to find US websites. How much does a WW2 M1 helmet cost in the US? I find that they're not overly common in the UK... I'd like one too. If you're lucky on facebook you can get a nice M40 for $750+
