Bailey the Beagle has remained a classic favorite. I love how he comes alive too soon to see if his treat is there and goes back to 'dead' again.
The dog is a “she” but yes I agree.
@@naturequeene132 Perhaps Bailey is pansexual and wishes to be called 'they'.
@@poetcomic1 Bailey's a "she", numb nutz.
@@naturequeene132 You're a poet but don't know it.
@@jamesryan7684 haha I love this comment thank you. I think you may be right. Even funnier considering the username of the original commenter.
Dave going in for a handshake and ending up shaking Bailey's foot at 9:15 was great 😂
There is no human hand, dog hand is okey. 😂
Thank God it's a female dog😂
Bailey is smart enough to realize that if he's dead too long he might not get his treat in the afterlife.
😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😘
Yup 😂😂😂
SHE. Owner said it's a female.
I love Bailey especially when he's dead and checks for treat back to dead again hilarious love him
He may play dead, but he's not that dead to ignore food.
Makes me wonder if Bailey ever played dead when leaving the vets. Could you imagine everyone’s faces in the waiting room if they saw this 😂
That would be the best!😄
🤣
@@marciloni12 you nailed it!!
🤣😂😜🤗
Just going in for a check up. Aaaahaha
1. I love that David asked before petting the first dog 2. I love that his voice changed the minute he started to pet Sparky 😍
It's the doggo code! I'm not a dog owner (yet) but I go full tard when a floofer is all up in my grill :P
Reminds me of the Sesame St clip where the kid finds his dog Sparky is being the 'shadow monster'. ....good night mum good night Dad, good night Sparky 😅😅😅
A true dog lover 😂
The guy holding Bailey was just as funny as she was. He had a deadpan humour that worked perfectly with her play dead routine.
Why the gay flag
Lol absolutely 😀
Why not ?
He sounded like James franco lol
@@larezzatruman8097 'cause it's weird
Being able to make David Letterman chuckle like a kid is something special.
Bailey remains my favorite ever Stupid Pet Trick. All of the timing was impeccable - and she slayed Letterman too. Comedy gold.
Same she was my favourite, funny trick too.
LOL! Watching Dave's reaction and listening to him laugh was almost better than the Stupid Pet Trick.
"Is that long enough? Can I have snackos now? No? Okay, how about now? 🥺"
It was the best I've seen! And a good laugh out loud trick 🤣
Why didn't he put her down though to play dead?
The "ahhh, ahhh play dead" at 9:05 had me spitting out my drink. LMAO.
Funniest thing I've seen today
I love when she comes back to life for treats 😂
Dave never minded giving the celebrities a difficult time but he was truly magnanimous towards the "regular folk" and their pets.
Bailey playing dead, quickly looking for treat and playing dead again!!! O my god 🤣🤣🤣 m laughing my eyes out
HAHAHA 😂😂😂, I ❤❤❤❤❤❤ YOUR COMMENT.
Dave's prolonged and rolling laugh to Bailey is one of the best things ever.
My late dog's name was Sparky too. We had a friendship and companionship that lasted 14 years. I gave him a good life. Fond memories
May you always be healthy so that you can treasure his memory... 🙏🙏🙏
My family had a Sparky, too! He was an all black mutt, and he was so happy and lovey! Bless you for giving your Sparky a full and loving life.
This is the cutest thing I've ever seen. Bailey is adorable and smart. I don't think any other dog can do this trick and make it work. Bailey ROCKS!!
Our OWN dog, Niles, learned how to play us. His "Treat Time" was 9:30 at night, and, he would walk over to each of us, in separate rooms, and act like he didn't get his treat. We FINALLY caught on, after a while.
Put him down for being a liar.
@@sauerkrautvonbraun4590 what? That's not funny...
@@tanyawieczorek6603 I put dogs down for less lol

Baileys look to see if the treat is ready makes me so happy! Alive - Dead - in between - alive again!
Lol "in between" 😂😂😂 ye
There's never been another late night show as good as this one.
I did like the late show with letterman.
Bailey the beagle is so cute when playing dead it's so funny when he comes back to life looking for a treat lol
Bailey playing dead is certainly somewhere in the top five of all the stupid pet tricks.
I miss Dave Letterman on late night. Bailey is one of my favorite Stupid Pet Tricks guests. 😊
Now, all the latenight comics have become political flacks and are no longer funny.
I hated Letterman.
@@adiosamerica3948 🤕Were you picked on as a child?
@@indiglo1971 were you?
Yes I’m from the U.K. and I always watched him.
I never get tired of watching Bailey!!!
Paws down, Bailey was the show stopper! All of them had me lmao.😂😀👍
Wow, Babe the counting dog was truly amazing and by far the best.
The dog barks until she stops showing it the card (or some other cue) and then stops. Still cute though.
I heard that dog died. A neighbor slipped in a note with 3,000,000,000,000 written on it.
5:37 to 5:38, she was still holding the card.
@@Amtcboy 😂😂😂😂
@@comfortablydumb1681 Obviously. We see how it stops, and then starts again. There was no cue, so... But dogs actually can do more than that. But only if there is proper training. Recently I have seen that button training, every button speaks a certain word or sentence. really really impressive.
I think Babe is trained to start barking when she holds up a paper and stops when she sees her owner move to get the treat.
That’s what I thought too.
Yup that’s true
That dog who played dead was amazing! LoL. David letterman is my all time favorite late night host. I used to watch him almost every night.
Stupid pet tricks…has to be one of the best bits on any late night talk show.
You have to wonder how they are chosen for this. Are there auditions? How does one conduct "stupid pet trick" auditions?
I’m sure people sent videos of their dogs tricks and the best were chosen to come to NY
I laughed my ass off. I love Bailey play dead😅. 😂 😂crack me up every time, hilarious.
When he said Bailey was going to play dead I didn't have that in mind I just laughed so loud my dog is looking at me to see if I'm Ok.
This video brings back memories of the first time I saw this! I laughed so hard and so long over Bailey (and Dave's reaction!) Bailey was the dog that inspired me to teach my own dog to play dead!
How do you actually get the dog to do it tho? Do you have to demonstrate first?
@@bexactlyyy Good question.....
Bailey CRACKED me up!!!! I can't stop laughing..!!!!!!🤣😂🤣😂🤣
You and me both. It was good. But it was funny. Lol I kept playing it back for at least 8 times.
I must have watched this 100 times over and can't stop laughing!!
Bailey is so smart. This trick is just a venue for treats. She likely feels silly, but a treat is a treat! too cute! ❤❤
You could tell Dave really got a kick out of Bailey playing dead. He tried to talk then kept laughing.
even tried to shake the dog's hand
Reminded him too much of dealing with stars
I still remember Bailey playing dead all these years ago. One of the best of Stupis Pet Tricks!
Bailey was funny, but the counting dog was truly amazing. Shows how intelligent dogs are.
The dog isn't recognizing the number, she's looking for a queue to stop barking from the owner.
@@Texas240 Like a treat.
Oh, honey. The dog barks until the treat comes out. Every time. Gorgeous dog, though.
@@Texas240 exactly... may be her fingers
@@tigressnsnow she lost no time with that treat after he barked as long as she wanted him to. At least she's able to count to ten (and fool a lot of people with such an easy trick)
after last dog's trick, the owner isn't paying attention to Dave's handshake proposal. So Dave - normally- does a handshake with the dog's leg at 9:20 The geniusness of David Letterman in 3 seconds
Hahaha thanks for noticing that, that’s hilarious
😂saw that
I am thinking the dog owner may not have been able to see Dave's hand. 🤔 He did shake his hand at 9:31.
Dave left hanging, played it cool with the dogs foot.
Paw.

Bailey was sweet and amazing, the counting dog was brilliant, the demon dog was clever. I love them all and their uniqueness.
It’s been so long, I forgot that there was late night TV that was actually FUNNY 😂
Stupid pet tricks was ICONIC. This is back when late-night tv was funny, with actual talent.
Daves interaction with the pets is amazing. Guy is truly missed late night.
The last of the great ones no doubt.

Bailey is a miracle 😅 one minute dead and next back to life 😂😂
Bailey cracks me up every time I come across this video. I actually saw this when it was first aired on TV and I damn near peed myself.
As a dog trainer, I think I figured out the barking trick. The dog continues to bark for as long as she holds the card. When she makes a little signal that she's going to put the card down, the dog stops barking.
I know. Just how stupid do they think we are? Oh wait ... this is Letterman's audience.
I'm sure. Not really a "Pet Trick", but we were able to teach our dog Lanny where to go & stop while walking on Corners and Stop Lights. She had gone blind, and, possibly deaf as well. Tap her on each shoulder to show her where to turn, and her chest to get her to stop.
No way! That dog went on to become a CPA before dying when he tried to bark the national debt amount he saw in an outdoor someplace. He made it to 29 trillion before running out of time.
@@rogerbritus9378 😂 quite true 🤭
You THINK you’ve figured it out?? 🤣
Aw, that's nothing! my boy Baldurdash is so smart, when the sign says _WET FLOOR_ he does! Anybody who doesn't think dogs can count, take three treats out of the jar and just give him two.
Bailey is so cute when she plays dead I love her ❤️❤️❤️
I love Bailey best playing dead dog ever, thanks for sharing Bailey with us.👏👏🙏❤️🥰😘💐
Best doggie version of play dead ever.
Omg the play dead was the funniest thing! I scared my dogs with my screaming laughter!!
Dave Letterman is a national treasure, and his dog voice is EVERYTHING!
I like how Letterman extends his hand to shake the puppy’s paw, but puppy doesn’t notice so Letterman shakes puppy foot
I have cracked up over Bailey ever since I first I first saw her. I laugh a ridiculous amount every single time.
“Play dead” LMAO NICE ONE
Beagles rock. Great pets. Affectionate, smart and are great hunting buddies. Bailey steals the show
Bailey: comes out of play dead to check if treat is coming.
The dogs that barks the number on cards was very impressive but the dog that plays dead was way to funny. Both dogs got my vote.
I'm pretty sure the counting dog just keeps barking until its master takes away the card. I mean the counting wouldn't be as impressive as the dog actually reading the numbers.
@@Ken_Brooks yep 🙂 pretty sure there's a subtle sign to stop. certainly not impossible though, that it could learn bark the number, it's just symbols. thinking of it, that could be cool project to teach my dog! (not barking, but maybe press a button such many times or something)
All three dogs 🐶, get my vote. I thought all three dogs 🐶🐶, were hilarious 🤣🤣🤣.
" I LOVE the " WE gotta get our money's worth... " 😁😁😊👏🏻👏🏻
I love how the first guy said he and his dog are "both from San Francisco".
Bailey is looking around at the start like a beagle does...."I know I can smell a bacon sandwich somewhere...." 😂
Ah, the good old days when late night talk shows were actually entertaining.
You are so right 😢
I know ... I miss Carson too.
So true!
Unwatchable now
Ain't that truth
I love that Bailey kept trying to play dead every time Dave said the word 😂😂
This is the funniest thing I've seen in ages 🤣🤣🤣
Dave! One of the best bits of all time.
When the guy said "would you like to pet him again" and the dog looked straight at Dave 🤣🤣
I found this clip last week and any time I'm feeling down I play it and laugh my head off!!
This what is missing from most night shows: simple humor.
That counting dog is genius!
Yes! That was the most interesting trick of the group. I mean, the play dead act was definitely the show stealer but the cleverness of the counting dog is so durable. Oh, the bets you could win at the bars🤣
"What the hell is going on out there in San Francisco" You tell us Dave. You tell us.
Bailey the beagle is the best pet trick. He's a classic act.
Who told Dave that beagles have a rotten disposition? They're the nicest hounds ever. They're stubborn and hard headed and they may ignore you completely if they're nose is locked onto something but they're generally nice , friendly dogs who love people
My guess is they got that rep after a release of beagles from laboratories (beagles are the dog of choice in experiments, so there’s millions of beagles in the U.S being tested on and never leaving their cages). A life like the ones they were forced to endure can create a bit of a hostile attitude in some dogs, but yeah, they’re super friendly. I cried seeing a video of a group of rescued beagle puppies first time seeing the outside world or touching grass - they were SO afraid of everything! Warmed up to it, though, thank God, and got to enjoy being puppies, for once.
I've had 4 different hounds. Bloodhound. Blue tick confound. Beagle basset hound. Those traits are every hound ever
Always so much fun - really miss these Dave!
God bless every dog in the world, they are amazing.❤
Haha Babe was like mom, really? 82?😂
I remember a black gentleman with a gorgeous Doberman, I don't remember the trick exactly but I remember it brought me to tears it was so beautiful.
Shiba Inu’s have been around since 300 b.c. And were used and hunting dogs. They have also been used to track and hunt boars and bears. Just so you know.
Those tiny little squidgets? You'd need several hundred to track a slow moving animal.
Never could I have imagined that voice coming out of David when he was talking to Sparkie 🤣🤣
the last dog ,is hilarious . I can't stop laughing . HAHAHA ! its so cute too of course
Bailey is a ham😂... definitely knows he's looking hilarious doing that.
The play dead dog I do it to my kids every time they call me 🤭 All they do is approach me and open my eyes than I just burst in laugher 😂
This video is pure TV excellence!!! ❤❤❤
Got to admit little Bailey’s the Man! That was hysterical😅😂🎉❤😂😂😅
He has a way of taking some kitschy and making it artful.
The counting dog!! OMG how sweet! Does anyone know how she taught him that??
The owner give a silent signal when the dog is supposed to stop counting. Maybe a head or a hand signal that the dog watches for.
She taught her with popcorn!
Sparky turned into "CUJO."😮Bailey's trick was HYSTERICAL!
The Shiba Inu just cracked me up!!😂😂😂
Miss you, Mr. Letterman. And fondly remember when you used to throw things out the window.
Bailey is freaking comical
Dogs are so amazingly pure
I like that " she will bark forever " Whahahahaaha
