For the first eight rounds, anyway, Alvarez proved conventional boxing wisdom absolutely correct in the idea that most offense-minded fighters can’t do their thing while in reverse. Golovkin, specifically, was a neutered beast when unable to plant his feet and launch a proper forward-minded No, GGG didn't lose because he was old, he was 40 yes but not an old 40, but because Canelo simply had a better game plan.

What honor is there in taking an old man and beating him up while you’re in your prime. To me Canelo saw an opportunity to take an easy fight and also he hates GGG so he wanted to punish him. • It's a shame that more people are going to be talking about Golovkin "getting old" rather than the solid work Alvarez was doing for much of the fight, timing Triple G, keeping him reacting and moving backwards. For the first eight rounds, anyway, Alvarez proved conventional boxing wisdom absolutely correct in the idea that most offense-minded fighters can’t do their thing while in reverse. Golovkin, specifically, was a neutered beast when unable to plant his feet and launch a proper forward-minded.

As for "Canelo fights", I had them as first one being absolute win for GGG, second one was definitely a draw and the triloGGGy was a win for Canelo. As for me, it will always be and even score between these two, but +1 point for GGG for insisting on this fight while being well past his prime years, while -1 point for Canelo because he is in his prime years, and will never be able to stop GGG.

  • unpopular opinion. these fights catching up to Canelo. you can’t tell me he’s as explosive or throwing the same amount of those insane combinations like he used to. arguement could be he fell in love with his power but tbh. ggg from the first couple fights beats this canelo … look how he fades away harder now then ever before in fights

  • So thankful for DAZN’s generosity in officially sharing this event on KZhead. But, the audio is so poorly balanced. Couldn’t hear the commentary over the crowd. Soundboard operator needs training.
