George Lucas' Sequel Trilogy Full Treatment Revealed - The Truth
The George Lucas sequel trilogy is one I wish we all got to see. It's one I know George wishes that we got to see, as it was the intended ending to his 9 episodic saga. Regardless of what your consensus of the Disney Sequels are, I support you and you have a place here on Star Wars Theory.
There is a constant rhetoric that George's sequel trilogy doesn't exist, or that it was exactly as how Disney created it. This is not true.
In this video, I will provide receipts, evidence, and literature unravelling George Lucas' sequel trilogy, from George Lucas, himself.
The information in this video comes mainly from The Star Wars Archives Episodes 1-3 1999-2005 by Paul Duncan.
I highly recommend this book. It is phenomenal, and provides every Star Wars fan with endless information about the Galaxy Far, Far away.
I think The Mandalorian, now with Luke Skywalker, will take heavy inspiration from George Lucas' sequel trilogy that we learn about in this book. I think Luke collecting Grogu/Baby Yoda, is along the same lines as what George wanted Luke to do in his sequel trilogy treatment that we learn about here with Darth Maul and Darth Talon, the new Palpatine and Vader.
Luke finding Jedi from Order 66 after Return of the Jedi, is something I feel would have really helped continue the story from 6 AND 3, Revenge of the Sith.
Let me know what you think about this sequel trilogy from George that he wanted to make. That he had ALREADY started production on, as he says, in the book!
Again, regardless if you loved the sequels or did not find it palatable, I support your opinions and I'm glad you enjoy Star Wars.
May the force be with you, ALWAYS!!!

What do you think Ahsoka is going to be about? Do you think it’ll have her as a teenager (presumably right after the Clone Wars), or as a fully grown adult, which will star Rosario Dawson again?
You know for George to get manipulated like how Anikan did, just shows anyone can fall for more money/power. He should've seen the signs before, I know he did. Disney did what the Sith do each other, stab u in the back for more power. And they stab George in the back. There can only be two, one to Embody power and one to crave it Bob Iger is the dark lord Kathleen Kennedy is the apprentice
This is my personal opinion, but I would have rather had Rey be a kenobi and finish what anakin and kenobi never did. But honestly, 8 and 9 were not starwars. A but more pizzaz to 8 if you know what I'm saying.

Ah man... It all ending with Luke having restarted the Jedi and Leia being the Supreme chancellor is such a perfect ending to the overall trilogy of trilogies. It would be a further redemption to anakins fall.
It should have had yuzhong vong invasion IMO. But Jihadi former stormtroopers is a unique twist too...
That’s pretty much what’s implied at the end of Return of the Jedi… hence the title.

right, the title of the rebellion was the alliance to restore the republic like that would have actually made it full circle and more symbolic
Yeah that would have been an amazing ending
It physically pains me how Disney just took this amazing franchise and set it on fire the way they did. KK and auger betrayed George’s trust with ruining his literal life’s work and passion project and I can’t imagine how he feels. They have no respect for him at all and it’s so sad
you summed it up perfectly. i absolutly love disney but what they did was so hard to see
What gets me is how the Lucas sequels ticked so any boxes: The Force is Female- Lea becomes the Supreme Chancellor. Original fans- get to see Luke rebuild the Jedi. Prequel fans - Darth Maul is an underworld Boss. Legends fans: That Twilek Sith girl etc. The story sounds so good but I guess Kathleen Kennedys massive ego wouldn't allow it. Oh well
They were inept because they lacked comprehension.

For those that were not alive when the original trilogy was released: I *REMEMBER* reading about George Lucas publicly saying he had a story outline for _NINE MOVIES,_ with *STAR WARS [1977],* *THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK [1980],* and *RETURN OF THE JEDI [1983]* being the _middle three_ of the nine. This information became public either around the time the first movie premiered in 1977, or sometime BETWEEN that movie's release was release of *EMPIRE* in 1980. This is NOT some NEW INFORMATION that got revealed around or after the time DISNEY purchased LucasFilm.
Agreed, it was common knowledge in the late 70's, early 80's. I remember Lucas doing a number of interviews during press junkets for the original movies and saying he had three trilogies in mind. The Darth Maul Crime Lord storyline in Clone wars was FANTASTIC and I remember thinking that it deserved an entire season instead of being crowded together. There were plenty of filler episodes in that season that didn't need to be there.
episode 7 - organized crime syndicates cause new problems for a greenhorn new republic, an ancient evil escapes from prison episode 8 - whole planets and systems, even whole chunks of the galaxy, break away to form their own rival governments, ISIS-style terrorism becomes major threat. return of the Sith, which uses crime syndicates to return to major power. episode 9 - crime syndicates, ex-stormtroopers, rival governments unify under one banner to attempt to re-take the burgeoning republic, (maybe a new outside threat like the yuzong vong come in to help them?), Is called the ‘New Sith empire’, openly led by Maul or Talon (or maybe Sifo Diyas…?).
it would probably be 7 organizing and whole systems and planets joining crime lords the new republic / whoever Lucas would call them Skywalker isnt helping leia because hes busy with jedi so leia and Han handle the crime but it doesn't work out 8 would probably be about Skywalker trying to train jedi and having problems because of crime and corruptness so he join they begin fighting some of the crime business but after they try to fight them they join together and unite under the new Sith empire like Crazysilly said and Maul and Talon is shown to be the ones behind this andboom conflict
@@Stallins_ALT and the Yuzong Vong come in at some point to further complicate things, either helping the Sith/crime lords, or starting a 3-way conflict. Disney did the final trilogy so wrong. As a Star Wars fan I would’ve loved to see the movies come full circle and for the Jedi Order and Republic to be rebuilt once again. George really knew what Star Wars fans wanted. Just so sad that his vision didn’t come to fruition.
if someone makes the actual George Lucas sequels, it would be the best that ever happened for the Star Wars community
Honestly Disney was just trying to make as much money as possible and because of the severe reaction to the prequels they thought making the sequel trilogy as different to the prequels and as similar to the originals as possible was the way to go. The problem with Disney is that they had no artistic vision like Lucas would have had. They were only basing it on trying to make fans happy. The Force Awakens was made to please fans who hated the prequels. The Last Jedi was made for fans who hated The Force Awakens. The Rise of Skywalker was made to for fans who hated The Last Jedi.
I don’t like resuscitating Maul again but overall yes, I would’ve preferred the full circle drastically more than zombie Palpatine

The sequel trilogy had no heart and lost what it was to be Star Wars. Too much nonsensical ideology and horrible ideas/storytelling. George's treatment would have been far better.. Star Wars (or anything) will always be in better hands with the original creator at the helm.
@@Billsyboy1986 At least with the Prequel Trilogy George himself acknowledged that he "maybe went a bit too far in some places." Nothing but respect to George for wanting to raise his daughter. I wish Disney would have held off on a sequel trilogy and left the door open for him to return with his ideas some day if he wanted to
George is a fantastic story and ideas guy. Great at world building. I wish they had used his stories and made a screenplay and got other directors to shoot it. The key problem with the sequel trilogy is that they had no story to tell, they were creatively bankrupt so they asked the directors to wing it. Lucas’ Rolling Stone interview from the ‘70s is worth a read. In it, he describes how he was planning to release Episodes 4, 5, and 6, then a Wookiee movie, then Episodes 1, 2, and 3, then a Droids movie, then Episodes 7, 8, and 9, and then a Bounty Hunters movie--12 movies in all. What’s interesting is that Between the Holiday Special, the 2 Ewoks films, and the Ewoks cartoon series, you basically get a sense of the aforementioned Wookiee film. Also, if you look at the Droids cartoon and the upcoming Droids series, we’re essentially going to get our Droids movie. AND if you look at the aborted Underworld series, the Maul stories on Clone Wars (and Rebels), The Mandalorian, and The Book of Boba Fett, you can see George’s sequel trilogy and the Bounty Hunters movie.
I never noticed that playing out. I wonder how much Lucas is drip feeding his original ideas into the ear of Favreau and Filoni and they’re slowly but surely incorporating it into their works.

I just have to say that George's blueprint for Luke's end is epic and the real way that he would go. @@Luncea28 he says they're not part of his vision, im sure he doesnt like the trilogy but he's not allowed to criticize because of some sort of contract he signed
The darth maul character arc created by the clone wars was great. If he was already brought back by the show, it’d make sense to have him hang low till that new trilogy. Palpatine was either in space or in the Death Star when it exploded. The idea of him being powerful enough to survive was kinda stupid, given the lore. Maybe he lives as a spirit like other sith did in the old republic or something, but def can’t live. That just felt like Disney was lazy and didn’t wanna create a new villain and copied the OT. Considering what we actually got, I would’ve rather they claimed that Mace Windu survived his fall on coroscant by using the dark side of the force and turned into a sith, since he already utilizes the dark side of the force anyway. That’d also create a joke in Star Wars lore that if someone falls, it doesn’t mean that they died. But what we got was straight up lazy. Didn’t learn about Snoke or the Knights of Ren really and the good guys won by the power of “friendship.” It’s a load of Disney princess movie crap

The original treatment would have had a great symbolism to the Mortis arc and sort of tied it all together. The Father, The Son, and The Daughter. I could also see Ahsoka passing on Morai to Leia.
Bro 🤯
To me, this doesn’t sound like a trilogy with enough drama and tension, but I’m sure the plot would have been a bit more fleshed out in The final script. Parts of this I absolutely love, especially the Darth maul stuff. I also think the arc of rebuilding rather than rebooting is also a more logical and intriguing setup.
That father, son, daughter concept makes so much sense as it patterned itself to the trinity of the balance of the force
We even got it in the Clone Wars with the Father Son and Daughter
Wow, imagine actually calling back to previous content (in this case the Father, Son, and Daughter in Close War’s Morris Arc and Vader, Luke, and Leia in the OT) instead of pulling a “Force Diad” our of nowhere.

The daughter is the Holy Spirit. The comforter. In the Bible, the original Hebrew uses the feminine word for Holy Spirit. A sequel trilogy in which the main villains are Darth Maul in a Tony Montana style and supreme waifu Darth Talon in live-action? *SAY NO MORE*
Lmao “supreme waifu”
Darth Maul was never my favorite Sith Lord he never had the strength to stand up to Darth Cydia‘s neither did Darth Vader the only Sith Lord ever came close to doing that was Count Dooku
Had Vader reached his full potential he would have the power to take Sidious but as we all know he never would reach that level. But going back to Maul and Talon I love the idea and would go and see that for sure
Maul would have been so perfect to explore the dark side further. We never got much in the movies or shows - only in novels.
Darth Maul was not the right choice for the big bad. It was very obvious in his appearances in the Clone Wars series and even in Rebels that his end in Rebels is the only end he could have. He was obsessed with Obi Wan Kenobi and he kept failing. He would not have been able to stay hidden long enough to be alive by the end of Return of the Jedi. Darth Talon might be good, but Maul got the end he needed.
As much as I love Disney, I think they rushed star wars. It doesn't make sense how they let marvel go for 10+ years, yet they rushed right thru the last trilogy and just changing things without being true to the product. George Lucas is a visionary and should have been listened to.
You're not wrong. What they did with the MCU for the most part was amazing.. although I think Captain Marvel and Rey might have been roommates in college who both got a doctorate in Mary Sue. That said the rate at which they cranked out mostly good movies that tied into each other to tell a major story was dare I say unprecedented. Incredible they could do so much so close together and tie it all in like that was nothing short of incredible. That is what happens with a solid cohesive vision. Without that... You have the Disney Star Wars Trilogy. No idea where it's going and it just got akward and felt wrong.
You love Disney? F Disney cringe woke bs
am I mistaken, but he had a overall concept of what and where he wanted to go with characters and story but most of the % of his films plots were wrote/ created right literally before he starts filming?
This may sound strange, but when he started to explain what Georges original plan for the next trilogy would be, I actually stopped the video. I realised I felt like I didn't want the story to be spoiled for me, deep down hoping that one day, we will get the true ending we all deserve. George IS Star Wars in my mind.
We already did. The emperor dying on the death star and the chosen one bringing balance. There was no left to go from there. They should have gone back I'm time to do new movies
Curious: Did you feel that way when the "Special Editions" came out. It seems that everyone kinda bailed on George, at least for a time. I waited in lime for Georg's upgrades. It's so unfortunate that Feloni and Favreau have to play clean up after the sequels. So many questions. Did Feloni introduce the World between Worlds after the Sequel Trilogy? If Luke can't rebuild the Jedi Order after "Last Jedi", can Ezra fill this role? Can Boba be reestablished as a ruthless crime lord after the events of "Book of Boba Fett"? Or maybe Cad Bane if he somehow survived? I'm excited to see what will happen.
THANKS for sharing!!
A part of me wishes he didn’t sell Star Wars and instead chose to wait in order to enact his vision. But he wanted to live his life and I respect that. I just feel so bad because Disney completely ruined his franchise and it probably hurt him so much to see it all fall apart.

Just there at the beginning with George Lucas stating that it takes him ten years to make a trilogy shows the difference between the quality that he wanted fir Star Wars versus the quantity that Disney attempted. I would love to see the complete vision of George Lucas.
Disney spent 6-7 years creating their sequels while george spent like 8 years on the originals. Not too much of a difference
George had been writing that original script for years before production began. And let’s not forget that Lucasfilm was also also producing in TV and spin off films during the time of the sequel trilogy’s production. The company was entirely focused on One Star Wars film at a time during both earlier trilogies, with each released at three years intervals.

Actually I remember a very early interview in Starlog magazine where it was mentioned nine possibly 12 episodes like a traditional Cinema movie serial episode count. I'm not saying that he's wrong by any means, but I do remember this very distinctly and discussing it with my mother. I think of the Heir to the Empire series as filling in those missing three now that Disney clearly went a different direction. I was seven when the first film came out and I remember we read this article sometime in the months preceding the release of the movie or directly after. What was meant in the article if I remember correctly is that the initial three films were to be followed by six films. The other three chapters would have been prequels taking place before A New Hope and would cover the Clone Wars. So this memory doesn't actually contradict what has come to pass nor necessarily what is stated here especially since when the Heir to the Empire books came out it was stated that they were meant to be the next three episodes after Return of the Jedi. This was confirmed in a late-night conversation with the author of the trilogy Timothy Zahn himself in the lobby of the Hyatt Regency O'Hare hotel at the Vision's 91 convention that I attended. I don't feel this information contradicts what you've presented but perhaps maybe fine-tunes it. Without doing any research or reading further in these comments I cannot verify if anyone else agrees with my statements. It is clear that it was a process and not entirely a product for George Lucas is the shifting needs of the Hollywood studios and the market changed as he tried to balance it with his life. If I had access to all of those old issues I would start digging through them to find the quote. I think this memory and Theory explain the time jumps that would have to have happened in George's original treatment post the prequels we actually got and the later involvement of disney. I will have the conversation again with my mother and see if we can't remember. I have a near eidetic memory from an early age and my mother is often good at knocking the cobwebs off of where I do fall flat. As I said near not completely. That said I love the cycle of stories were getting with the Mandalorian and its related series and perhaps Timothy will finally get the credit he is due for his influence because it is felt majorly.

I just realized everything that has been universally loved by fans that has been created by Disney fits with George Lucas' vision. The mandalorian shows us the remnant of the stormtroopers and imperial officers rebelling. It also showed us Luke creating his jedi order. And while the whole cloning thing in the Mandolorian isnt the best, it does delve a little into the biology of the force. Lucas wanted to go into the whills and midiclorians and the cloning plot touches on that a little. Also, the last season of clone wars showed Maul and his power in the underworld.
Hey, maybe ahsoka will be good because it is looking deeper into the rebellion of the left over imperials, maybe Thrawn is taking over the role of maul

filoni knew he wont come in sequels and gave a beautiful scene in rebels
I’m really not sure. That just opens up that Maul was smarter than palpatine, that he outlived him and the sequels would’ve just been people scrambling over the scraps of the empire, that just doesn’t sound very significant to me. I like what we got with maul, that he was the victim of Palpatines corruption, that he tried to be a survivor that warned people of the oncoming empire, and tragically died ultimately as a casualty of war brainwashing that he couldn’t recover from.
Sad he killed him off quickly.

I been a star wars fan since the first movie episode 4. I seen that in Redding and then in San Francisco back in 1977. This was back when both the stars of that movie and I were kids. Later, I would read many star wars books especially the Han Solo trilogy. I loved that-the romance between him and Bria and how Bria would be a part of red hand squadron-the ones that beamed the death star plans to lias Corellian Corvet for Darth Vaders star destroyer to chase. When I seen all the prequel episodes I loved it eventhough it had some technical smears here and there. But, greatly done. When it got to the continuing sequels that was when I knew not to take those films seriously and just enjoy them for their stunning special effects in which only kiss concerts can match that type of action in real life-and yes, I'm a kiss fan, too, along with black sabbath, Dio, Metallica, violence, etc. However, when it got to the Han solo story-thats when my heart broke because they could've done so much with Bria and the same is true with the continued sequels, namely Mara Jade. Fuck! Look, in also being a star trek fan I notice the best movies that are coming out are the fan made ones in which my favorite is Star Trek renegade. So, since Disney are going to be all about profits about this start bootleg star wars movies where they are fan made movies that can swipe it out of Disney's hands and tell these stories right. That way, the people call the shots and not them. Hope this happens. Good luck.

Sure Lucas is thinking now having Luke married in Legends wasn't such a so horrible idea. By the way, what's the problem with having Luke married? I think not allowing attachments with others was one of the reasons the Old Jedi Order fell
I think if he made it now he would add that. Would also show how Lukes order is better, proving the old order wrong, that the Jedi can have emotion and not fall.
George said they weren't celibate, they just couldn't turn attachment due to that leading to fear and selfishness of losing that person and that lead to the dark side. Anakin didn't want you sleep with Padme he loved her so he was doomed from the beginning. There's a Obiwan and Qui Gon novel and they meet a Jedi that actually says he has relations with other beings just not relationships. The celibacy thing was over exaggerated.

In the same spirit of fans having the facts and then deciding for themselves...it should be noted Lucas also gave a 60 minutes interview in 2005 where he specifically states "there is no episode 7". He goes on to talk about the possibility of an "off-shoot movie...about an off-shoot character". My own personal opinion is that Lucas had no plans for a sequel trilogy (much like he never had plans for the prequel trilogy), BUT he did have a story for them. In the same way he couldn't resist that itch for the prequels and finally made them 20 years later, I think the same thing would have happened for the sequel trilogy
