Dreamliner Cockpit! Flying Etihad to Japan
In this video we bring you the full 787 Dreamliner cockpit experience as Gabe Leigh flies with Etihad Airways in the jumpseat from Abu Dhabi to Osaka Kansai International. Over the course of 50 minutes you'll see just about everything that goes into completing a flight on the 787-9, from pre-flight discussion to taxi and takeoff, navigating busy airspace leaving the Gulf, looking at the flight plan and weather enroute, changing from feet to meters over China, and finally descending into busy Japanese airspace and the approach into Kansai International looping in over Osaka Bay.
It’s Etihad’s 20th anniversary this month - and that coincides with a period of expansion and development at the airline. New routes are being added, the beautiful new terminal has just opened and more. It was really nice to get an insight into their operations, and meet some of the people that make up their team, at this exciting time. And of course, especially to get to spend the flight, on one of those brand new routes, in the flight deck. What an incredible experience this was, with an excellent flight crew, and we can't thank Etihad Airways enough for helping to put it together.

#etihad #cockpit #787
I was really impressed by this. This was not just another flight from A to B from the cockpit, but the Captain went out of his way to explain everything from HF and CPDLC in action, Chinese airspace deviations, and all that in a very clear and concise way. Gabe and FR24 managed to film and include clips of rare insights behind those rugged cockpit doors that separate the average Passenger from that world upfront. Thank you Gabe, and thank you FR24 team for making this happen!
Thank you for watching and for the very nice comment!
Captain Horan is an excellent pilot and a true professional 🇮🇪☘️🇮🇪❤️
One of the best cockpit videos that I’ve ever viewed. The flight radar host was awesome with his explanation and narrative.
Thank you!
Captain was amazing!
Captain Horan stayed at the hotel that I work at a month or so ago and he is genuinely one of the nicest and funiest people I met at the hotel.
That’s very cool! Yes we agree!
@@Flightradar24DotComhow does this captain differ from the captain you were with from SAS? I mean flying philosopies
Can’t beat an Irish captain! Loved it felt like I was there !
Thanks! 🇮🇪🥳
Brilliant captain could listening to him all day 👍🏻😎
Agreed!
what an awesome captain, explained so much and so well
He was great, yeah!
"Over the course of 52 minutes", the video is 50 minutes long ! Apart from that, easily one of the best videos I watched on this channel. Thank you.
Mine shows - and plays - 00:00 to 50:09
Watched this from beg to end..love this informative video. Subscribed to flight radar since 2018 and verify everytime a huge plane is overhead. Relatives and friends coming and going appreciate my info on their flights
Who cares?, excellent video
I find it fascinating how the captain elaborates on the very specific details that haven't been explained by others in aviation.
What an amazing flight and the captain was fantastic! Just love how he was explaining everything that was going on.
Yes the Captain was great! Thanks for the comment.
I'm not even interested in becoming a pilot but I did not skip one second of this video. Fantastic watching, thank you.
Amazing to hear, thanks!
I love that the captain went out of his way to explain what’s going on shows you that he really cares and as a airplane mechanic and hopefully a future pilot I really like this video
Yes indeed he was super gracious to explain everything!
I've never seen anything quite like this, absolutely astounding quality, what a resource, and thanks for taking us along!
KIX the king of airports, who doesn’t love Osaka and the approach over Awaji, Kobe and the Osaka bay into Izumisano !
Simply put, one very happy Flightradar24 viewer = me - one very happy Flightrader24 employee = Gabe Leigh - one truly very beautiful aircraft and one beautiful video ! Thanks, Jim
Thank you Jim!
This was very enjoyable to watch and I gained a lot of knowledge on what they do upfront.
That's great, thanks!
This was an absolute treat to watch. The Boeing 787 cockpit looks absolutely incredible! And the Flight crew were amazing and professional. I especially appreciate the Captain taking his time to explain the various aspects of the flights. As a fellow Aviation enthusiast that was very enjoyable to listen to and I hope you get to do more of these flights from the cockpit in the future.
Phenomenal video experience! It feels incredibly real. Thank you for your time and effort in bringing it to us.
Glad you enjoyed it!
What a kind and professional captain. Thank you!
Those HF frequencies are crazy strong. I used one flying from Santa Maria to Shanwick airspace last week (Western point of Europe) and we were picking up the radio chat of Mumbai really clearly. TJ is exactly like every other Irish captain out there! I'd say hes a sound lad to fly with
Wow that's amazing!
Great to watch! Thanks Gabriel
What a lovely video - and finally - one with good audio quality again!
What a buttery landing, such pros
Awsome video thanks for sharing!
Fantastic video, the captain was really informative.
I must say, this was surely one of the best videos from FR24 and Gabe!
Thank you Shashank!
Such a cool video! I sat watching mesmerized by the all the detail, the professionalism of the crew, the 787's beautiful flightdeck and all the interesting tidbits of info concerning this particular flight. Thank you for making these super cool videos!

Lovely video hopeful for a B777 cockpit vlog soon.

What a very awesome Etihad video👍. Also, The Boeing 787 cockpit looks really advanced
Absolutely fantastic video! I now got the feeling I was in that cockpit during that flight myself, thank you!. So great to see pilots working together and how challenging that work ist.
Captain Horan seems like such a nice guy and a highly skilled pilot. Loved the cockpit view on the 787!
So very cool to see the flight deck. My wife and I just took a trip from LAX to Papeete on our first Dreamliner. As an AvGeek I felt like a kid again when my parents worked for both TWA and Delta and my very first trip at 8 years old to HNL on a B707. This was an amazing video. Thank you 🙏🏻
This was excellent! The professionalism and proficiency of the flight crew was exceptional. Thank you!
This video really gave me the motivation to work past my trauma from flight school. I will never forget this amazing production
Smashed another great video Gabriel, This is one if not the best aviation channels on the net, the way you narrate these is more like a story and is such a pleasure to watch, thanks for doing this sir and never give up. All the best from Manchester in the UK.
Thank you so much for the kind words!
What a great video..thx 4 downloading.👍

Excellent video, thank you for sharing. I know the app he's using on his tablet as I used to use it myself. Brilliant bit of kit.
Another great video by Gabe and what a lovely crew taking time to give us all that amazing information throughout the flight.

That was great fun and fantastic crew! I flew a similar route and landed at KIX when I went to work in Japan. Good to see Osaka bay.

I really don't want to just say that this was a lot of fun, but it was a lot of fun!! Yes, the captain and crew were great. And the explanation of the operation was very cool. I would love to sit up there for a flight as I'm going to Thailand in two weeks!! Thanks!!

Gabe, Thank you so much for this one. The best cockpit video I have ever seen. I agree with others that the Captain was special. Many of them are very open explaining what they are doing but this one was the best I have seen. Thank you again for giving us flight experiences we can never have.

The best video!!!!❤❤❤❤
😀
Magnificent video!!🙂
Thank you very much!
Butter smooth landing
I worked for 9 years for Etihad as an ops controller and later flight safety officer……I flew on the maiden flight of A6-MLB into MAN……..Also, I remember a Thai captain friend of mine Stan always used to comment how he used to have to double check his fuel figures as the 787 was so incredibly economical!!…..( previously flown B777 and A340s)
What an amazing video!! It really feels like I‘m flying with you to Japan in the cockpit.
Thank you, that’s exactly what we were trying to achieve with it, so that’s great news!
Fantastic channel. I am so glad I got to see this. Subscribed. I am hooked. 😊
Welcome and thank you!
Being Irish myself, I clocked Captain Horan’s Irish accent straight away - I wonder is he a relative of the late Mgr James Horan, Parish Priest of Knock in County Mayo in the West of Ireland, who built Ireland West Connaught Airport? And currently working for Ethiad, does he fly into Dublin Airport or into here in Manchester from Abu Dhabi? He’s probably also worked with our national carrier Aer Lingus (Shamrock) or Ryanair as well 🇮🇪☘️🇮🇪❤️
Great to see a captain not hesitating to use the speedbrake when needed 👍
Great videoooo
Why an immense video! I can’t wait until I’m flying some heavier metal like the 787 through our skies ✈️
😀
Great video guys
Thanks so much!
amazing!
Gabe you have the best job in the world pal. 😀
😀
You are so lucky!
Marvelous!
Great video! It was really awesome and fun to watch it. With a cam on the dashboard for clear front view will be great as well if it's possible sometimes :)
Thanks! Some airlines don't allow anything mounted in the cockpit including cameras.
@@Flightradar24DotComahh i see :) Thank you! Keep recording such great videos!
Ex ryanair captain..irish man 👍🏻🇮🇪
Yes!
I love it
A+++ stuff!
