It was wonderful seeing their joy of having Dad home earlier than expected. Mom's reaction was priceless, you two were awesome for sharing your special day like that. Lots of love in your family. Congrats and btw, love the dress and veil. You looked beautiful!

    • Sadly yes. While theyre out fighting life keeps going with or without them. It can be hard for them. Apart of you wants to pick up where u left off before deployment but the world continues on & it can be difficult sometimes to catch up on stuff. Its tough on families, always wondering, worrying if the next time they see their loved one it will be in a casket. Tough on our service members worrying about their loved ones at home. Few things in life truly tests anyone like the military But seeing videos like these really are great. And can show just how much that waiting is worth. These videos get me everytime. Seeing the joy makes every nightmare second of being apart worth it. Even if its brief

  • When my sister was getting married, I was still in school and her wedding day was on a school day so I got to skip that day of school and personally it takes something every emotionally for me to cry, even when I am happy and when my sister was walking down the aisle during the wedding l literally couldn't hold back my emotions and was so happy that I was crying and even hugged her after the wedding ceremony was over. Then a while later my sister told everyone in our family that she was pregnant and my grandmother (Who I call Nana) saw the news, she screamed so loud and on August 18th 2018, I became an uncle at just 19 years of age to a sweet baby niece. Now almost 3 years later, my niece absolutely loves my father who she calls Pa Pa. She also absolutely loves watching my betta fish eat and she loves watching them. And best of all: she took her first steps (at least in my house with my parents since I have autism and can't live alone without help for things like monetary aid for example) towards me! And when she had a birthday coming up 2 years ago, I was at Walmart and saw a Baby Shark toy that played the Baby Shark song which she absolutely loves and I had to buy her that gift. When we had her birthday party after she opened what everyone in my family (except for me, and my parents knew) was all of her gifts, I go into our spare bedroom and grab her the gift I got her and surprise her with the gift and she was very happy when she saw it.

Not so bad for a male Marine as new platoons are continuously forming. But when I went (1983) the next female platoon that was forming was about a month behind so if someone had to fall back you could be in boot camp a month longer!

  • @ Mr C, as former Marine I can assure you there are three ways to exit boot camp as a “Lance Coolie” 1. If you get hurt during boot camp and had to stay longer then six months, became the platoon guidon bearer and got time in grade Pfc, plus Lance coolie for doing an outstanding job as the guide. 2. Get promotion based on education and was in his contract. 3. Was the platoon guide and he also won a meritorious promotion board while in boot camp.

When they told whoever answered the phone that it was about a death in the family he basically dropped the handset and turned it over to someone else. Comment was "noted". My brother says it wasn't until Saturday that he got called in and was told that he had Monday off to attend his grandmother's funeral. And take your greens because you're a pallbearer.
