President George H.W. Bush's funeral train, pulled by locomotive No. 4141, carried his casket 70 miles during his final journey from Westfield to College Station, Texas, Dec. 6.

    • As it should, It quite literally pulled history. It would be disrespectful for the locomotive to be used in regular freight service with the possibility of getting damaged.

    • That was its last run -- it is officially retired and will be placed at the George H W Bush Presidential Library.

    • either it will go back to its UP colors or it will be gutted and donated, the current status of it keeps going back and forth through what people can make out

    • Source? Just an official statement made by a UP representative during the actual funeral train movement live stream. It was stated that it would be placed at the library upon the end of the run. Evidently they have changed their mind..

    • Definitely not a heritage unit just the upper crust of society, flaunting their wealth and power built upon the backs of thousands of others. And I say it was perfectly appropriate to put the casket in the baggage car because that’s all he was was baggage.
