Unfortunately, this project cannot be considered 100% successful.
The cutting wheel has bend during welding and does not function as it should.
In one of the future videos we will try to come back to this project and fix the bugs.
We decided to show you this project so that you know that things don't always go the way we would like them to.

This is how I started my business.... No fancy tools, just be creative and do good work and good things will come. Awesome video!
I was a mechanical engineer for 40 years, but I still learn a ton when watching your great videos.
🎉
I doesn't matter if it works or not, just seeing the work, the craftmanship, the skill, it's enough for me and why i love your videos and come back for more! Thank you
hello, can you show us how to make a non shredder crusher for tires
Working as good as expected or not right off the bat, still these are mad skills you have! A very slick build!
I love that you share the projects that doesn’t turn out as expected. I look forward to seeing you improve it!

Dude!! your projects can survive a nuclear blast! the thickness of the pieces in your designs is impressive! they must weight a ton!!! made to last! Bravo! 👏
Given the recent events, let's hope there's no test of those surviving a blast. _Please_
Beautiful!!! I wanted to build a chipper years ago. Had parts together also. But the very very best part of your project is I did not see any parts being cut out with a GRIMDER!!!!! Very good job!!!!!!

I like the concept. I love your creativity and the fact that the stuff you build will certainly outlast a commercially bought machine. Patiently waiting for the fix video.
Sir, I wish I could even imagine how to design as well as you! And to top that off, your craftsmanship is wonderful. Bravo!
As someone who works for a company who builds and services chippers your design is spot on. We'll done.
It only doesn’t work

I agree with some of the posts about a thicker flywheel, but your flat stock to deflect your wood chips need to be angle iron. This is how larger commercial chippers are designed. Keep it up man! Sweet videos! 👍🏻
👍Nice build; looking forward to your improvements. I imagine something involving more air flow for ejection of chips.
No worries. Thicker flywheel and Bob's your uncle! 👌Great job!

My father and I made a ridiculous chipper once and used 2, 1/2" discs for the flywheel with flails on bolt shafts between them. The chipper was bolt on cutters on smaller windows sorta like what you have. The whole flywheel assembly including bearings is bolt together. It vaporizes xmas trees! no warping to worry about. We did have to use a tensioner hand lever to slip the belt though since it's so heavy. The whole thing is basically a stack of plates including the outer casing. Might I suggest hardened counter sunk socket heat flat screws for the blades? The SHCS you have are going to be impinged upon and bend over. That spot takes a ton of abuse! Keep making cool stuff, I love the channel!
It does not matter if it did not work from the first trial. It is a beautiful piece that can be improved. Great job!
if it works or not, I could watch your videos all day.
You are a one man factory, thank you for sharing.

The project is very good, congratulations. One thing is missing, the air intake next to the shaft, on the fan side. However, be careful not to loosen the clamping of the bearing on the wall of the box. In my opinion.
Excellent working skills and craftsmanship! You give me ideas for other projects as well.Ive learned a lot watching your video You are a true asset to your country! Thank you and keep it coming.
I'm following your channel for a long time and this the first Failed (at first attempt) project I remember, keep working and let's us know how to improve it.
I design quite a bit of stuff and it normally only comes close to being right after 4 or 5 revisions but it can be many more. Thankfully 3D printing makes R&D a little easier than welding things up though! Great effort anyway! You take what you have learnt and improve the next design! Thanks for sharing!
The fabrication skills and inventions are just admirable ! I wish I had all those machines to build things.
I think the stiffening ribs on the cutting wheel need to be welded to the rear of the blade supports, and then tangentially to the hub. This would put the stiffening where its most needed. Also, some spring loaded, driven rollers to drag the branches into the blades might help. Otherwise, an effective machine. I liked your driven chuck, for circular, cutting and welding. Very ingenious!👍 .
I’m curious what went wrong here and how you fixed it? Watching the time lapse weld and fab on the fly was a thing of beauty! If only I had video of the projects my dad and I did over the last 40 to 50 years in our trucking yard…
My guess is that the speed was to low and he should have placed fan blades on the back of the rotor to help with more airflow for the output chute.

You have corners in your blower housing, should be a radius. And get your rpms on the flywheel up a bit higher. Also make the fans on the inside just a bit bigger. Small engine, but crank your flywheel mass up as much as possible to chew through the thicker stuff easier. Fantastic start to a fun project! I own a tractor powered chipper capable of 15 cm branches. .75 meters in diameter and 25mm thick, two knives.
Thanks for the showing us this...I'm impressed by your physical strength. You should be careful though you don't injure yourself.
Whatever it is, it will be a minor adjustment I'm sure!!! Your builds are crazy AWESOME!!! 👌 👏
Juz ponad milion subskrybentów!!!! 😲 Gratuluję i pozdrawiam!!
I own a eager Beaver chipper. It shoots the chips down ,have a collection bag for it . A few mods and it will work for you. I had to buy mine 26 years ago. Dude you made yours, respect 👍👍.
Cool project and cool that you showed that it did not perform as expected! The wheel needs about 1000rpm on a larger chipper from what I remember. With four knives and a smaller wheel some more energy is good. Knives could use some relief angle on the backside to clear the chips and make it self feeding on thicker diameters. The distance from the anvil to the knife is very important. Some more airflow is nice. And did I mention that this was a cool project.. Looking forward to see how you diagnosed and improved it. And to see how you balanced the wheel would be interesting.
Dobra robota! I zrobione na bardzo wysokim poziomie zawodowym.
Great job, thank you brother. You are so talented
SOOO CLOSE!!! It is still MIND BLOWINF to see you make a wood chipper with your bare hands!!! Maybe some type of blade on the back of the cutting wheel to act as a fan that blows it out, and also can scoop the chamber too. YOU are the expert tho, I know you will make it PERFECT!!! GREAT JOB BRO!!
You need to add flat 90° wings to the back of the flywheel for more air movement
Or a blower on another belt, somehow coming off the same pulley?
@@jondoe7894 0k
Love your honesty!!! That's pure gold!!!
I would definitely like to see you build a 3rd version of the chipper, a screw -type chipper.
Another amazing Project. I'm surprised that you didn't make something bigger... Although you would need at least a 20Hp motor

Brother you will have some things that you will have to rework and that's ok look at all you have accomplished .....your work is amazing each project is from scratch a true joy to watch your creations !! 👍👍
And once you iron out the bugs.... add a two knurlled roller feeder to it.....like the commercial ones have :) I love your creativity !
Bardzo dobra robota 👍
I love your video. I would say the biggest thing you could do to improve operation would be to add a round inner shroud that is a close clearance to the blower fins. Eliminate the corners where the chips can collect and you should be in business.
Long way nobody had done one time I’m so glad to see more 💪💪💪👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
On larger chippers there are feed dog rollers to feed the wood in rate with the chipper blades. The speed of the blade has to be high. So the ratio of blade speed to feed speed. You may have to reduce the height of the chute to help with chips exhaust. Good luck with your update. As you get lots of " IDEAS " from people which 99% is crap.👍🤦♂️
I’m curious to see which idea works, mine is more speed but I’m probably part of the 99%.
@@Hoaxer51 I too wonder. Can't wait for the update video.

Wow, built like a frigging tank, must be super heavy. The video editing is also great, reminds me of "Make it Extreme" channel. Too bad the wood chipper has developed a fault. Will come back here with pleasure !
One would think you are building a tank! That think should last a life time. Great job. I'm curious how much does that chipper weigh? I love watching your builds!
Wyższe obroty głowicy tnącej i wyrzut zrębki w dolnej części był by tu rozwiązaniem. Ale i tak praca pierwsza klasa.
Woj Ciech, my first thought was he needs a higher speed on his cutting head. Maybe just swap out some different sized pulleys, I’m really curious what he’ll do to make this work. The build quality is so much higher than anything the stores in the USA offer for sale, I’m sure just a little tweaking will set this build right!
Fantástico video cómo siempre,,,👍
Your fabrication skills are amazing. I like the PTO driven ones - more power!
Pozdrawiam 😊.

More power, 1 less knives and more air flow. Thanks for sharing your successes and failures.
This is the true of these kind of builds, sometimes you just need to try and figure it out by making and testing. But as always great project!
That chap is gifted, makes it so easy looking, but don't think so 😁🐕🇮🇪
Cannot wait for part two 👍👍👍
The blades need to be grooved to reduce friction between the cutting edge and wood so that the chips easily fly off. Then you need to create a turbine like structure in the other side of wheel with light weight flaps so that there is an impeller effect which will drawn in wind and throw it alongwith the chips in the outside.
Sounds like good advice. What a craftsman though !
Nice i work at a rental store a lot of these things are available Keep up the new projects they are inspiring for us doit your selfers
Great work, but it is necessary to use tool steel for the blades/knives. The mild steel blades will not last long enough. You may also need a very heavy radial stop for the knives to rest against. On industrial equipment, the knives have a taper splined lock in the rotor which tightens as rpm goes up. The vibration and the high rpm gives rise to sht happening quick!
He said that the nives are made out of dozer blade. That's carbide and tough as hell! Agree 100% with backing up the knives. At that rpm, were a blade to break off, it would spell catastrophe and injury or death!
@@McJays Are you sure it's carbide and not hardox?
@@dejanbrice8774 It's definitely some sort of high carbon steel, AR/WR plate/Hardox. Definitely not carbide...
I would add a bit more weight to the rotor. These things rely on mass for much more than just momentum. Just a thought based on what i see in the junk yards when i come across wood chippers, most often the rotor is cracked to heck and back because (i assume) they lack the mass, most being made out of thinner gauge metal.
Very much agree. I worked on large industrial chippers . It seems the angle of the knives need to be adjusted, has it is not pulling the wood into itself, like it should. They did a great job making this chipper.
If any thing add lowering rods or some thing to stabilize the unite its moving alot ?

Fantastic work, dude! Nicely done!!!! 😃 That should be great for compost! Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I would think 2 improvements, 1) a curved shroud on the inside following the blades, 2) a mechanical feed mechanism in the intake chute, some larger PTO powered units have like tank tracks that raise and lower to feed stuff in.That being said, I love watching you make stuff. I don't have nearly the skill set to do what you do and its always a pleasure to watch you work. I've seen tones of DIY stuff on KZhead. Much of it is barely functional and dangerous to operate. I always feel like your stuff could be mass produced and sold.
Maravilha de ferramentas. Lindo trabalho.
A mature job, a mature job, supported by sophisticated tools, the results must be good, greetings to success, my boss from the beginner RM TRALIS INDONESIA.🙏🙏🙏
If I have a tree to chop I call you😂 hahaha nice video 💪💥

Not everything works first try ... looks like a solid build. Thanks for sharing 🇨🇦
Another amazing build, you'll figure out the problem pretty fast I'm guessing.
My 8hp chipper had a 12" dia by 1/2" plate where the knives attached, and only two knives, and the shoot where the chips came out was at the bottom, it was an ELCO, it worked ok, you could plug it up quite easily, i would make the main plate on your machine out of 3/4" plate, install larger blower blades, and power it with a 1600cc car engine.
Turbo charged?
Yes turbo 400 hp diesel
"pop the hood" I see a cool air intake, its got a NOS fogger system and a T4 turbo Dominic. I see an AIC controller, it has direct port nitrous injection...
It's chute not shoot

Amazing project! don't worry, go ahead , I'm sure you find the right solution very quickly
To solve your mistake you need: first, change the pulley to a bigger one increasing rotation speed. Second, you need to balance the blade weight onto the shaft
Optymalna praca 👍👍👍 👏👏👏 👏👏👏
This is a complex project, I would expect bugs. Take the list of bugs, think about them, fix em, go back out and test again. You may have a second list of bugs, but it will be shorter, so your on the path. Boy, I wish I had that plasma cutter and lathe and metal bandsaw. I think this project shows a tremendous skill set, an ability to picture what is to be built in your head, and to build it.
Sounds like a wonderful excuse to install a inline 6 diesel power plant, or a V-8 with a supercharger, followed by an a heavier flywheel? or, JUST MORE HP.. I have never heard anybody complain over having TOO MUCH HORSE POWER...LOL... Just think, with a machine pimped out with some clever HP, you could get the whole neighborhood to do all the wood chipping you personally need done, just because they want to play with a COOL wood chipper... You could pull up a lawn chair and some popcorn and just watch'em work for you...AND, all people working will have smiles on their faces as they play... All jokes aside, as always, WELL DONE ! ! ! !
Every time I see a wood chipper in action I think of Fargo! 😂
Damn that is a lot of work and you manage to fit it in a 10 min video.
The stuff you make is next level. How long was the design time and how long was the build time?
that's why my chute comes out the bottom, you need a lot more HP , also I have an idler pulley, to release tension on the belt, that allows the motor to come up to full speed, then you push the idler pulley in and it tightens it up and brings the flywheel up to speed. BTW, you might want to add more weight to the outer rim of the flywheel, and make them push the swarf out at the same time. Nice build. Why use the grinder to cut, when you have the plasma torch?
Hey guys, big fan here, and when I got my first one, I didn't know either, but modern cordless drills cannot/should not be tightened the way you do at 6:18 because they have a sprag clutch in them - a sprag clutch is one that locks up when the torque comes from the outside in and not the inside out. You can use the motor to take up all the slack, but you should always tighten them by hand at the end. Old Makitas from the 7.2V days weren't like that, and the motor was 100% the way to go and it's a hard habit to break, but you need to start breaking it now :-) Beefy project, unpausing to see the finish :-)
Hard luck on the exhaust choking up - looking forward to the fix and good on you for just showing it anyway, does wonders for low-self-esteem youngsters to see even the best fail sometimes :-)
