  • I just got back from a week vacation and was lamenting getting so far behind with my videos. Then I saw your Start to Finish series and I’m getting to binge watch them..happy, happy! Those cones are the worst aren’t they? For everyone! We would take it off while they ate and drank and just watched them. Some were better than others at leaving their stitches alone.

  • Dear Gayle..I am so thankful you mentioned your take on wearing masks during this crisis. With 38 k+ subscribers who respect and admire you, you have a platform to reach folks who might otherwise not think about this. I fail to understand why it should even be an ‘issue’ but gently persuading folks to be kind to others as well as themselves is very important these days. Thank you for your voice of common sense 😘

    • And thank YOU for understanding the situation. Unfortunately, so many are taking advantage of the medical exception clause by just breezing through door security with a medical-exception comment with no proof. My offspring works retail and tells me that the personnel knows some people are lying just to get out of wearing masks and as a disabled person myself, this makes me so mad. They would change their tune fast enough if they had to wear their exception papers around their necks similar to the way we have disabled placards for our cars to park in certain places.

  • Poor Jimmy Joe, the cone of shame for a whole 2 weeks! That's what we called it whenever my little man had to wear it. If Khan didn't eat much while he had to wear it, I used to take it off just so he could eat unencumbered. Hopefully he won't do you too much damage with it. Loving seeing the book come to life.

  • I have breathing problems but I still wear my mask, because I have other health issues. What I do when I can't breathe is find an aisle in the store where no one is at and pull out the bottom of my mask to catch my breath. So far I have been kept safe. I agree we need our masks. I also keep hand sanitizer in my car.

I told hubs from now on, he is going to the store if I can't do curb pick up services on some items that they refuse to sell on their curb pickup service. Breathing issues are real when it comes to these masks.

  • Good afternoon Gayle. If you don’t have project life cards, I use lined index cards that I coffee dyed and I just round their corners with a punch. When we had our puppy fixed the vet used a collar that looks like a neck brace, and she was able to eat and lay down comfortably, no crashing into things. Jimmy Joe will be clumsy until he gets use to his cone, poor baby. We’re mandated to wear mask, even at the beaches now. I just go out when needed, been ordering things online. I miss my thrift store shopping 😢. Enjoy your day and hope Mr. JJ feels better soon. 👍🌸🌸🌸

  • Hey Gayle! I have a little time to watch a few videos this morning and was so happy to see you making an altered journal. They are so much fun to do and the results turn out so great! I just loved the embroidery panels you received in the last video. I can just see them making some great covers for journals already. Can't wait to see you use them. I must tell you a story about what happened this past weekend. We have so many critters around our home. Lots of bunnies, which we love watching. But we also have others that can be a nuisance. One being groundhogs, which are plentiful in PA (the reason why Feb 2 groundhog day is done from PA). Groundhogs love tearing up and eating gardens. They also like to dig holes in the worst places around your house. So, my hubby uses live traps to capture them and then relocate them in a better place, away from people. Well, we have seen a small groundhog running across our back porch and so, my hubby set up the trap last week to try and catch him. Well, the first critter in the trap was a bunny and he let him go and reset the trap. On Friday, we had come home from grocery shopping and my hubby said he smelled something. But I didn't smell anything, so he shrugged it off. Well, Saturday morning, I'm in the kitchen and I hear a shout from upstairs bathroom, where you can look out the window and see the trap..."Oh no!!! I think there's a skunk in the trap!! Nooooo!!! What the heck am I going to do!!!" I called up if he was sure. And so he went outside to check & sure enough, there was a skunk in the trap. I actually started laughing about it...just the thought of having trapped a skunk...what a fun adventure this was going to be, right!? Well, my hubby was in a panic about what to do with this thing, but did notice that the critter was laying down and not really moving. He could see him still breathing. The trap was in a shaded area, but Saturday, temperatures were in the 90s and so, very hot outside, even in shade. Anyway, I told my hubby not to worry, it would work out and I looked up on KZhead videos on how to get a skunk out of a live trap. You have to hang a blanket in front of you, so they can't see you and then cover the trap. I guess they won't spray anything they can't see. So, my hubby followed the directions and got the trap with the skunk in the back of the truck. No problem there. We have an area just a few miles from here that is actually a wildlife improvement area and that's where we too it. My hubby was able to get it out of the cage, but he thought he wasn't alive anymore. We think with the heat or maybe it died of a heart attack from fright. The critter had scratched the ground out below the trap trying to get out, so possibly got dehydrated doing that? We felt bad about it as we both like skunks, even with their little defense mechanism. They are so cute! My hubby really hates to hurt anything, too, as do I. So, we felt really terrible and wished we had to of looked when my hubby said he smelled something on Friday. Speaking of skunks, did I ever tell you about the summer we went RV camping with my daughter and her family. We were all sitting around a campfire, starting to eat dinner, when we noticed a skunk coming up to where we were. I mean, this skunk was not frightened of us at all. And then, we saw another one & another one & another one...there were about 5 skunks that came up to us; a whole family. I guess they smelled the food and wanted to invite themselves to dinner. LOL Well, we all scattered and tried to figure out how to get rid of them without them spraying us or our camper, of which they eventually were under. I was especially worried about them spraying the camper. (This had happened to my family, when I was a teenager, when we were camping and the skunk smell does not go away too quickly.) Finally, my brave son-in-law got out a hose and started to spray them with water. Well, it worked and we were saved from anything stinky happening. It was funny and still is a good laugh amongst us. I agree with you about the masks. Why take the chance? Plus, there are some of us who are at high risk if we do get it. Well, Gayle, hope you are having a good day. God Bless. Sue

  • Hi Gayle, I just want to thank you for your videos. I've been watching for awhile now, but usually I'm crafting along with you and so I have to hit pause a lot so I haven't seen everything. I just wanted to tell you how much I love you and your channel. You are so uplifting and sweet. My husband is a pastor and we will be moving to our new church - it's a few hours away - over the next few months. Our move was delayed, quite a bit because of some of the COVID and other house stuff. Anyway, my community is really far away and I love it, it's just a little more difficult to connect with people right now. You have been such a gift to me during this time. Nobody else in my family really gets my papercrafting. They're sweet and supportive, but just don't get it :) That's one reason I really enjoy hanging out with you. I grab my water bottle and craft away with you. You do such an amazing job making this personal enough that people feel like your friend. That's not easy to do either. My husband and I have done some FB Live chats for the church and it's fun but can be challenging. Anyway, super happy to have found you and your channel. Thank you for all you do! Oh, BTW, I am doing my first altered book with you and learned a very big lesson (that you also mentioned) for the next one. I grabbed a book at the dollar store and I was so excited because it has the uneven edges, etc. However, I didn't think to look at what the book is about. So many awful words! I didn't even realize it until I was already partly in .OMGoodness! I need to make sure I cover this book well. LOL

  • Don’t know how far ahead you are with filming or if JJ still has the cone, but go to Petsmart and get a collar that you blow air into. It’s so much better than the cone. It fits around the neck, fills with air, and the shouldn’t be able to reach what they are to stay away from. Seriously makes a HUGE difference and makes life so much better. • It can be an inner ear problem. I had to go to the ER on Feb 29th, just before the LOCK down, because of dizziness and nausea and vomiting, to the point of dehydration. Spent 10 hours in the ER, trying to get the nausea and dehydration under control, along with scans and other tests, and then another 4 weeks not being trusted to walk by myself. My husband is still with me every time I go out, because, I can get unbalance so easily The diagnosis was an inner ear infection. I hope you feel better soon. I hope Jimmy Joe heals quickly. Stay safe everyone.

  • Love watching you create your masterpieces 😊. If everyone would just wear a mask we would be open for business already. I hate wearing them but this isn’t about me it’s about us!

  • I hear you gayle. As someone who has a compromised immune system im not doing anything unnecessary to endanger myself. I work at boston market its a rotisserie chicken restaurant ( we only opened our lobby for dining in 2 weeks ago other than that it was come in order and go etc) im a cook there. S9 anyways we all had to sign a paper saying were NOT ALLOWED to ask a customer to put a mask on! But yet were all required to. I said i bet ya if it were the other way around that same person coming in refusing to wear their mask wouldn't appreciate if our server took theirs off to serve them. Im no stickler by any means i also have asthma and in my 100 degree kitchen there are times when i need to step back and take a breather. The crazy part of it is im the only cook back there im only around people when i bring food out 🤷. but i love the seat belt comparison. Its one thing if you want to endanger yourself but people need to be more considerate of others.

  • I’m so enjoying the altered book, I haven’t made one for probably 15 years and I never finished that one. Maybe I should just pick that one up and continue with it. I always wear my mask when I go out even though I have asthma and it’s hard to breathe, it keeps me from staying in the stores too long. I always figure I wear an uncomfortable bra when I go out, not for me, but for you. I wear pants when I go out, not for me, but for you, and I wear a mask when I go out, not for me, but for you. The people that think it’s taking away their liberties are probably the same ones that don’t wear a seatbelt with their kids riding on their lap in their car instead of in a car seat. Anybody who wants to call me a sheep that’s fine Baaaa, baaaa. 🐑 🐑

  • Hi Gayle, loving this journal. I like that you are using different people’s digitals. I still can’t print but I thought I could use thin scrapbook paper. I haven’t made an altered book before. I just make journals as giveaways for family, friends and me. I hope JJ feels better today. Sometimes Vets. let you take the cone off while they eat and hold them with their leash putting it back on quickly after. It might be worth asking. Stay safe and well. ❤️🐶

  • I love how you tried (and succeeded) to rescue the not properly glued bookpage banner. Carefully ripping the already glued parts so it can be glued again. Yeah, just in case we run out of bookpage to make banners from 😆 That dizziness you experienced, I hope has past and you don’t experience more side effects. Ugh, side effects 😞 Also sorry to hear things seem to go backwards regarding the virus. Here too the numbers are climbing slightly again. I wonder how long before wearing a mask will become mandatory here, not only in public transport but in stores and everywhere else. Who knows?! The book is shaping up grand! Have a gorgeous day Gayle! ❤️

    • Haha! Yes, really I could’ve started with new book page...old habits (save everything) die hard, I guess! Yep, since the filming of this video, we are now mandated to wear masks. I’m still not going to my hairdresser...the receptionist arguing with me about the masks made me mad. 😡. So my hair may be to my waist before I go back. 😂. Have a good day, my friend! You always make mine! ❤️

    • I am the same as trying to fixing things comes quicker to mind than let’s start over, and that’s not a bad habit. Funny sometimes, but not bad 😁 I’ve yet to go to a hairdresser. My hair is getting annoyingly long but I won’t go to get it cut anytime soon. New numbers just came out. Things are going the wrong way and alarmingly fast. It’s depressing 😞 Sooooo, we craft! And pet our furry boy’s/girls. And have a little laugh with a friend about some silliness. And carry on 😉❤️

  • Just watching this video ( it is March 21 by now) and liking your comments about wearing masks very much! By now it has become automatic, like standing 2 meters apart, when talking to somebody! At least the masks kept our faces warm during the winter. I like your book tutorial, I bought a book to start my own.
