I remember over 11 years ago when I first played Tekkit and thinking to myself or talking to a friend "Imagine if they added automatic stuff to normal Minecraft." 11 years later it's pretty much come true. Sure there is automatic stuff before the automatic crafter but now it's pretty much come full circle.
With Create and the Auto-Crafter, there's now two ways. And both have been featured on this channel.
@@Assassiniscool LOSER!
the crafter block leveled up my castle shops, i like my farms looking practical and i love having my logging camp producing all the wood type blocks. brings so much life to the villagers working there
If you're looking for more practical crafter systems, I think one interesting one might be a system that monitors chests of essentials and keeps them stocked. This would be great for things like chests, planks, mossy stone variants, and especially all of the redstone components. It wouldn't necessarily be faster than just crafting the 700 repeaters you need for your next project, but it would mean you would never have to worry about running out again. Maybe it could even have a system that tells you when the materials are getting low like a low-ink warning on a printer.
Hopefully better than a low-ink warning on a printer (you've printed 5 pages since the last refill, magenta ink is low, can't print in black and white replace magenta ink, you need a subscription to buy magenta ink). There's a few goods reason to go laser.
I really think the crafter is going to change the end game forever. how much time will it save you when instead of finding all the material you need and then crafting that item, you press a button and its made for you right before your eyes. here is another one. you take a bone meal farm and it feeds into a wood mill, flower farm, bamboo farm, and any crops you want all at once. and all this can be done behind the sense, making your builds cleaner looking while sill being functional.
I actually really like the fact that you need to deal with item ratios, like that log -> slab example you showed. It's a logistics problem, and it's very much like Factorio! (which I love)
Might be worth doubling the slab crafters and tripling the plank crafters for a perfect ratio. I don’t know if Minecraft can do a 4:3 item split, though.
@@12jojimboChest Boat?
This was my immediate thought as well! I suppose in situations where there’s no mathematically reasonable balancing solve, there will need to be some kind of periodic purge/reset to keep things ticking along. Which probably wouldn’t be such a bad idea anyway, just as a failsafe.

The 8 hopper chest boat system is actually pretty powerful. I used it to create an 8 furnace super smelter in a square shape compared to a long bar. it only used the boat for the items to smelt, and the fuel was left to fill a hopper line. Just had to remember not to move the boat while putting stuff in
Something that I just clued in on with the auto-chest crafter - one of the best uses of the crafter is shulker box crafting, especially for farms that use shulker loaders. The most difficult thing I think would be getting the timings so it always goes shell, chest, shell; shell, chest shell;. Maybe you could use a auto potion brewing setup, so you'd always get the ingredients in that order?
in case u r crafting a single item,u dont need to care about order.Put ingridients in,craft an item and put them in again and... UPD: u have to store recipe inside the crafter.

The meme died a while ago it’s weird now
Can't wait for the Infinity Crafter that Mumbo will inevitably make on the Hermitcraft server.
I love that Mumbo finds the auto-crafting benches so chobblesome.
I'm waiting for the base that has a set number of an item (say chests) and when your storage system detects that you are below that it automatically takes logs to build them. This makes the logs go below the level so you then automatically turn on your tree farm until it reaches the satisfactory level. All without any player inputs
I imagine most people will use auto-crafters for two things: mass converting larger single items into smaller ones (e.g. logs into planks, bones into bone meal), and converting 9 smaller items into a single larger one (e.g. slime balls into slime blocks, bamboo into bamboo planks, watermelon slices into watermelons). The first one is super easy and takes half a second to construct, but a simple, efficient version of the 9 item converter would be hugely useful for so many farms and other purposes. I also count mass-crafting chests as effectively the same thing as a 9 item converter, just with the middle slot blanked out, despite the fact that as you showed, there's a more efficient way of doing it. More hardcore redstone people will probably use auto-crafters for some of the more annoying redstone components to craft, most notably the Dispenser. There really needs to be an efficient system made by some redstone genius like ilmango or someone that does that with much higher efficiency than what mumbo made right at the start, because a lot of people will be very happy for it.
Interesting! Jumbo addicted to crafters, love that he is doing red stone vids again, glad he had a long break, also I am so happy he is in secret life
So I’ve been using that observer comparator set up for the crafters for all my tileable auto crafters with the observer directed at the block blow the crafter, and there are a few interesting tips. The first is just have the crafter facing down into a barrel and have it be powered by the observer when crafting, helps for compacting stuff. But much more interesting the two pulse thing is actually super helpful as it allows you to do up to 3 stage crafting with simple recipes, an example is Bamboo into a block into planks with a super simple set up, or one of my favorites in instantly converting cobbled deep slate into polished, into bricks, into tile, since each stage spits the perfect number into the next crafter. Another thing that I think needs repeating, USE DROPPERS! You can move items through this system twice as fast and with better control so you instantly double the speed of your auto crafters. With droppers each slice can operate at 4x hopper speed. another nice thing about droppers is depending on the recipe you can replace them with crafters in the chain, I’ve only found a few edge case uses for this but when you do find them it’s really fun, a good example for me was bones to meal to blocks in a super simple set up
I love when at the start of the video Mumbo said “it’s crafting time” and then crafted for the whole video (He really did though)
Suggestion: An iron golem factory conveyor belt. Auto-craft iron ingots from an iron farm into iron blocks, run a pumpkin farm through a shearer, and hook it all up with pistons to automatically craft iron golems.
But there’s no way to automate the placement of iron blocks
@@StickBreightleyexactly!
and push the golems back into the farm
...an iron farm is already an Iron Golem factory. The only upside of player made ones is that they can't attack players, at the cost of efficiency and needing to place blocks.
Wait but iron farms summon golems, why kill them for like 1/20th of the iron needed to craft a golem? Plus, you can't automate the placement of blocks.

Sounds like a cool design :)
Why not just fuel the smelting array with coal directly?
Because 1 coal block smelts more items than 9 pieces of coal@@zutaca2825
@@zutaca2825 because coal blocks can smelt 80 blocks and is made by 9 coal while 1 coal can smelt 8 blocks so if you do some math you will realise that it's more efficent it's like you get 1 more coal than you actually have

Could you possibly make a mega item manager that you can dump your inventory into and it will burn the trash, smelt and/or craft your raw items, and then sort it all into neat chests for later use? Bonus points if you can find a way to get it to make a variety of Redstone related items if you have an abundance of the required materials, so that when you have a Redstone project you already have a Redstone closet?

could you also use a lectern to take a specified redstone signal? feel like it would allow options for a lectern being the center point for ex: choosing wood type/what you want from a sawmill or what stone variant you want
I'm not a Redstone expert, but I think the lectern setup would make it wider, and he seems to be sticking to 1-wide slices.
You know what else do we need? Hopper minecarts being able to PUSH items into blocks like hoper. Not just pulling, also pushing
I'm chuffed to bits that mumbo's having a good time with this. I cant wait for the full update.
i think the most interesting uses of the auto-crafter are extending farms. so a gold farm could now fire ingots into a trading post. it would be interesting if your sawmill tried to keep chests of different item types topped up, and got its input from a wood farm, rather than just being a technically impressive way to make stuff slower :P
The crafter makes gold bars, they are thrown out to the piglins, they give resources, even obsidian, resulting in an obsidian farm.
I'll be honest, at this point I am curious as to how far you're going to take the crafter videos. They're funny and great to just listen to while I'm doing things! Even if I don't understand most of it, redstone is still beyond my capabilities.
Tbh with how excited he is for this crafter, I’m kinda surprised he never got into modded mc, like tekkit Tekkit as a mod pack revolves around automatic massive crafting trees for specific resources like high-powered solar panels and shit
Might be able to make a module for a given wood crafting recipe size. Using any wood blocks: -size 1 recipe takes one hopper Using bamboo blocks: -size 2 recipe takes one crafter -size 3 recipe takes either one crafter and a hopper into the side or two crafters and a hopper below -size 4 recipe takes two crafters or one crafter and two hoppers into the sides Using normal woods: -size 3 recipe takes one crafter with a hopper below to take out one plank for every four that go in -size 4 recipe takes one crafter -size 5 recipe takes one crafter and a hopper into the side -size 6 recipe takes one crafter and two hoppers into the sides -size 7 takes two crafters and a hopper below -size 8 takes two crafters -size 9 takes two crafters and a hopper into the side It's not perfect if you need non-bamboo buttons or pressure plates, or any larger recipes in bamboo. (Not a big deal if you're just spawn proofing the Nether with buttons.) Furthermore, the hopper below idea breaks if they suck out a random item; ideally, they take from the first slot where the excess item goes. Finally, these modules would have different sizes and sound difficult to compact. Still, I wonder if update order could allow for more complex recipes! If one can achieve a crafter push, then hopper, then crafter, that could be 8 planks with an item in the center: both note blocks and jukeboxes. Size 4 could create looms, size six could make smithing tables and fletching tables. Also remember that one bamboo crafter could chain to output four sticks, potentially enabling recipes like fences. Although, taking out only excess sticks would require an item filter. One might even be able to craft chiseled bookshelves with a normal plank crafter, a slab crafter that triggers every other time, and a bamboo block crafter. Barrels could be made similarly if the slots stay fixed, using a normal plank crafter, a slab crafter triggering every third time, and a hopper into the side. A composter would only take one slab crafter and a hopper into the side. Similarly, books could take a paper crafter, a leather hopper on the side, and a hopper to take out one paper below.
9:25 I guess if you have a complicated crafting recipe and lots of items to dump into the system, you could use a crafter chain where as soon as the first crafter is done filling up the second crafter, its items will then get pushed past it into a third crafter beyond the second one (like a centiped). It's odd and I don't think it's ever going to get used but it's funny.
It's funny to see Mumbo gradually experimentally get closer to the exact circuit that Xisuma posted a week ago.
I loved it when Mumbo said "It's craftin' time", and proceeded to craft everything.
You should make factory rental for hermit craft. Might be hard but if someone could pay per hour to use a machine where they input a recipe and supplies and it just mass produces the item they want that would be really cool

I was tinkering around with the copper bulb, and I made a piston feed tape with them. Moving t flip flop memory. Reading comparators from the corner of the piston feed tape where the pistons are, gave me quick pulses for every on bulb, and reading comparators from the center of the tape gave me longer signals for each on bulb while quickly turning off while the pistons moved them. You could use it for a pattern or try and change the pattern. I also made a part that would reverse every bulb, one the turns them all on and one that turns them all off, as they go around. Not sure how this would be useful, great fun tinkering. Also, I used two bulbs to make a three button t flip flop. One button always works, the second allows control of the third button so it works or doesn’t.
THAT could be next Hermit craft seasons shop! A shop where you drop off some dimonds and push a button to get the wood crafting you want....It dumps it off next to you at the door. Would be super cool to see I am sure.

With the planks to buttons could you individually have the planks fire every four ticks while the buttons are going every tick that way the crafter wouldn't get too full or empty? You could also inverse this for things like chests to the planks fire twice as fast as the chest.
i think the problem was hopper speeds
Man minecraft already going through the industrial age. Actual factories are gonna be built for anything now
I have this idea that’s been tickling my brain. Basically a massive super red stone contraption that continually grows and eats the world. 1000’s of flying machines that would go out, tnt blast and come back in with new blocks that would be processed by the machine. With the processed blocks the machine would then craft and create more flying machines or possibly some intricate mega structure. With these new auto crafters I believe this idea is becoming more and more possible.
That sounds really… Complicated and over the top

Something this system seems REALLY good for is automatic storage EXPANSION. Imagine you have a sorting system with bulk shulker storage, now imagine you run out of shulker boxes (lets say it’s in a farm which makes sense) well now instead of having to craft new shulker boxes to be put into the system, uncrafted shulker boxes can be crafted, placed, filled, and stored ALL AUTOMATICALLY. Putting a tree farm, shulker farm, lets say we’re bulk storing pumpkins to make it simple. Now we can have infinitely expandable storage which is 70% automatic (we’d still have to run the tree farm for chests).
You know how every video mumbo says “I should put this in a base” with all the contractions and safe houses he makes he should make the whole next season of hermit craft just red stone contractions he always makes!
Crafters are one of the coolest additions to Minecraft Redstone in a while. They are a unique part that was added specifically to add to redstone, and they work amazingly
there should be a recipe system where you can select a certain item or block to make. and you can have it be a toggle between manual or recipe filling for both camps of people that either want only a specific result that gets the job done, or the design as is right now currently for people that maybe want a challenge or to use the crafter for a different purpose. just my two cents
They could add a stick that can one-hit every mob in the game and after combing it with an Elythra you can Creative Fly... for ppl who dont want to play Survival the way Survival should be played and ppl who want a more challenging thing they "JUST" play without the OP stick...

aw man i haven’t kept up with minecraft redstone in so long this crazy
You could also solve the timing problems with math: You got 4 items coming out of a crafter which you need for a recipe requiring only 3 items. The lowest common denominator would be 12. So you can have 3 crafters of the first stage going into 4 crafters of the second stage. Not exactly small to build but a solution.
How do you have 3 crafters going into 4 crafters?
That doesn't actually solve anything. He's trying to take advantage of the fact that the crafter is the first/only item in the game that can push multiple items at once. IE when the first crafter turns a log into 4 planks, it's able to put all 4 planks into the adjacent container simultanesously, instead of one at a time the way hoppers/droppers work. However, this means that in order to take advantage of this you need to feed the first crafter directly into the second crafter, you can't split the output into multiple destinations. The only clean way to account for this is to literally just slow down the clock on the first crafter so that it doesn't overfeed the second. Or maybe have a carefully timed hopper to pull the 4th plank out of the second crafter after each slab is made (assuming this can be done without slowing the crafter down at all), and then either store/discard the extra planks, or have them feed into a hopper-speed crafter to make additional slabs at the same time.
