This is our next crazy project. The goal of it is to make a TV out of the hood, but make it seem like it's a normal hood at the first glance, without even a hint of tuning. But after turning it on it will play out in bright colours. Enjoy the video.

This is AMAZING!!! If I were gonna change anything, I'd extend the LEDS all the way to the front of the hood (or as close as possible). That means you'd follow the curvature where the headlights are and swoop down to where the Honda logo would be. It makes it look less like a TV and more custom.
i would of disassembled old tv an put a real tv screen in there lol.

Honestly. You should go all out and do a Sema tron build where you have every panel on the car wired up like that. That would be one insane piece of art. Only thing I would do is as other people have said. Extend the led strips to the end of the panels to follow curvature.

i was a little put off with the transparent hood thing but man, this paid off! If you'd extend the LED's to the edges of the part or even put it on other parts as well, you could make some incredibly glowy cars also you need LED's under the car if you're going to put LED's everywhere else

Very neat. Ive only seen something like this done once a long time ago. 2004, on a classic car from the 30s, had its brake lights seemingly inside the rear body panels light up right from beneath the paint. Final product should have heat shielding/foil to product the LEDs from engine bay heat

Never seen this done before and looks awsome. Only thing I would change is that I would apply the LED's to run down the front slope of the hood/bonnet vs. just straight across. It would flow better and might have different effect.👍

Cool project. Well done. Have you considered using the internals of an actual TV? It usually consists of several layers of flexible material, the most important being the light guides layer. Perhaps it can be (carefully) heated and shaped using a heat gun? Just an idea, no clue if it could work. Either way, again, my compliments.

The amount of labor that went into that is insane but the final result is awesome! The carpet hood was the 1st one I watched and very much enjoyed the banter between you guys. It looks cool. But double-side tape the LEDs onto the hood then cover the whole hood with some strong see-through plastic would probably be just as okay.

I think boat hulls with led lights under and above water could be really cool. Help be identified in low light conditions as well. The applications for this are limitless. I wonder if headlights could be done this way using the body panel as the protective “lens”.?
