For our Titleist Golf Ball R&D team, the goal is always the same: Design and develop the most consistent and best performing golf balls to help golfers shoot lower scores. It's a process focused on continuous improvement, fostered by many talented individuals working tirelessly behind the scenes. This is what it takes to develop the best golf balls in the game.
Check out the video for a closer look at this step in our R&D process and to see what happens to a golf ball at impact -- and a few micro-seconds after impact... (Yes, we said micro-seconds.)

  • The most amazing thing about this vid is the fact that the Titleist robot was hitting the ball into a bedsheet which was suspended by two clothes pegs in front of a roller shutter garage door. Now that’s Hi Tech!

  • real excellent video, really enjoyed it, very innovative and informative, who ever as a 9 handicapper, I don't have a high or fast swing speed, between driver at 105 to a short iron about 75mph club head speed. Any thought on what ball I should use. I notice Bridgestone say that using balls pro's use may be counter intuitive.

  • I'm just a guy from Texas that builds catapults. I use golf balls for my smaller machines. I use magnus in one of my launching styles. Golf balls are perfect for this. I started casting large cement golf balls in silicone molds I make, for my larger machines. Being of science, I have a question about dimples. Scaling up the diameter of the ball, would the dimples scale up proportionally, or should they stay the same size as on a standard size golf ball? The test balls I have produced have proportionally up scaled dimples, but my gut is telling me that they should remain small. The small dimples will still induce magnus, but won't create a bunch of drag. I have seen computer simulations of how air behaves over the surface of a golf ball, but none exist of how the air flow behaves over a spinning golf ball with linear motion. Shark skin comes to mind, and hydrodynamics, and that one wouldn't up scale the skin surface texture, the larger the shark.

  • hi, would you still recommend prov for a swing speed of below 100? Also would be nice if Titliest would make a prov ball that didn't cost so much. thanks

  • Very nice. I don't see the ball sliding up the face, but I do notice the club face, both with the driver and the wedge, being slightly deflected downward due to the oblique angle from the loft of each club.

  • Not very many people believe this I do. I swing 95 mph and I use the Pro V1x and it is the best ball for me best distance, best control, and stops well on the green so I don't think you can really swing too slow for the v1x like I said gives me better distance than any other ball and gives me the best control and stops as good on the green as any other ball

  • Can you clarify, at the 0:50 mark, in the presenters audio, the first set of tests are talking about "club speed" but the graphic in the video says ball speed. I suspect it's ball speed since we're talking about 175mph.

  • In general, the speed of the golf ball should be 1.5 times that of the speed of the swing. For the golfer whose swing speed is 100 mph, the speed of the ball as it leaves the clubface should be 150 mph. However, increasing club speed may not necessarily lead to an increase in ball speed.

  • Dear Titleist, Best ball I've played! Just saw this vid. Could you clarify something, please. Paul Furze speaks of "driver speed" according to what's noted in the video, 120-175. But the video notes reads "Ball Speed". Please tell us which one is it because those driver speed or club head speed are off the charts for a regular golfer. Thank you.

    @nol_clss@nol_clss10 жыл бұрын
    • If those numbers of 120-175 are ball speed, what club head speed did you have them set on?

      @nol_clss@nol_clss10 жыл бұрын
  • They make a great ball but my biggest issue with there balls is that the colour white fades very quickly and that makes it harder to see and find. Titleist you need to work on keeping your balls whiter!
