    • They all could of been marked to go there. For example when the wife saw the bracelet she made for her husband that was lost years back. Would not be surprised if season "2" goes more into their lives prior to arriving showing similar parallels. They all have something in common besides being lost in that town.

  • I saw a theory that the town requires a certain amount of characters. That's why when the car and the RV crashed bringing Jade, his friend, Tim, tabitha, ethan and his sister, the voice told Sarah to kill Jade's friend because he was not necessary, he was extra, everyone else from the crash replaced Kenny's dad, the nurse that took care of him, and the family that died in the beginning of the series. Then at the end of the series the bus stops at the diner potentially there to replace the ones killed during the Colony House massacre.

  • My theory is that this is a game. Someone/something is placing the humans and the creatures there. The humans are provided with food, shelter, and other necessities for survival. They also get "powerups", like the talismans. The creatures also "powerup" when the humans gain an advantage, they can now speak instead of screaming. I think they've moved to the next level in the game, that's why there is a lighthouse and a new setting.

  • The show has promise which is why so many watched it to the end. However, the ending widen the mystery rather then explaining it. In my humble opinion there should have been at least 70% resolution and 30% mystery going into season "2". It feels like the show needed to be edited down a little, especially the ending with the bus. We don't need more characters with backstories, we need answers.

    @KhylisTheory@KhylisTheory2 жыл бұрын
    • That's kinda what ruined "lost" a little. Although I liked the show overall, they just kept adding more and more mystery and intrigue while letting the fans wildly speculating and deciding on plot twists that no fan saw coming. In the end any explanation they could come up with just paled in comparison with the ideas fans had and it showed. The final explanations were kinda unsatisfying and the revelation that the smoke monster was just evil incarnate and the island itself was less of an odd geographic location and more akin to purgatory was rather bland. I really hope they can prevent the same development here... I hope they keep it exciting, keep adding to the mystery, but in the end don't ruin it with a cheap, spiritual explanation and give the explanation proper thought. If the solution would be "It was purgatory all along... Again", then I'd regret having really gotten into this show.

  • There are 2 Questions that I think might be important later in the Show. Why do the Monsters used to SCREAM before the Trapped People started to use the Talismans (Before Boyd found them and brought them to The Town)? And why after they stopped Screaming and started WHISPERING?

    @nplakias1@nplakias12 жыл бұрын
    • It's logical. Before, nothing stopped the monsters from finding and killing the survivors because the Talismans hadn't yet been found, so they screamed because why not. After though, they aren't able to kill people because they have talismans that prevent them from doing so (for whatever reason, we don't know yet). In order to lure them out easier, they started whispering instead of screaming. Just think about it: Would a child open a door to a screaming monster or a whispering, friendly non-threatening person? That was my thinking behind it at least.

      @gergpoo@gergpoo2 жыл бұрын
    • It's easy answer. Before the monsters would do as they like... You know scream and say I'm counting to 10 u better hide.. If u have someone in a box and know they can't escape u can tease them.. When the found the talismans the monster rather come in silence cause they know they might not get anyone to kill for the night so they taking them serious now

    • also, screaming makes people scared. Scared people do dumb, erratic shit. People with a legitimate barrier between themselves and imminent danger also act erratically but not even remotely as much as one facing it head on. Effectively, the monsters were initially scaring people into being idiots and running around, making them easy prey. Once the walls went up, they would have found that being calm and reassuring, much like a captive animal, would have secured better results for people with protection. Like if youre faced with an enemy behind an impenetrable wall, you're significantly more likely to entertain the idea of letting it in if they're like "hey, its okay, you don't have to worry. I know you're scared but everything will be fine. I promise. Just let me inside and i can help" than if they're just screeching like banshees lmao

    • The early creatures were less evolved back in the day and hunt like wolves. Almost like wild animals. But later on they've evolved and developed more cunning methods to hunt to get past the talisman. They started using mind games to trick you into seeing long loved ones to get you to open the door. So no need to howl and screen anymore. These creatures are using mind powers and trickery to disguise themselves while they eat you so you don't see their true monstrous form. Makes it easier for them to hunt. Of course that begs the question how they got these powers.

  • I didn't see it the first time but with a closeup of that globe picture - you can clearly see Victor used a darker crayon to color beneath the houses, joining them all up in a cave beneath everyones houses. This clearly represents the place where the monsters sleep in during the day. Then there's the spider surrounded by raindrops - when the sherrif was camping out in the forest he was transported overnight into a web infested forest and around that time a huge storm (which is the first incident of rain we've seen in the story) just so happens to occur over the town. This seems to concur that the place they're living in exists within repeating cycles - Victor who has been here the longest also says "it's happening / starting again" implying that the events he has drawn in his crayon pictures hold some key to understanding or representing the events that are to come. If there's any chance of getting out of that dimension it almost certainly lies within doing something to break that cycle. But how do you prevent something from happening if you don't know what that thing is; nor do you know if your actions merely adhere to the cycle rather than oppose it.

  • It's an adaptation of old Irish folklore about a malevolent form of fairies called the Sluagh. They are doomed former human souls who prey upon people who's lives are in turmoil, by luring them into these places where one one world connects to another (such as the forest in the show) & hunt their prey at night, often taking the form of crows or ravens (as seen in the show).

  • I really enjoyed the show until episode 10. It had so many interesting threads; The threat of the creatures, their origins, the purpose of the town, it's location, how people get there (and how they are stuck there), the little boy in white, the voices speaking to Sarah, the mysterious electricity, the fact animals exist in the town and so many other little mysteries. It was more then enough to keep the show going for a long time... but they're doing what they did in Lost all over again and just ignoring the answers the audience has been watching for and instead giving more questions and throwing much more insanity into the mix, half of which likely also won't ever be answered or explained (or just won't really make sense and contradict with later information). Lost was really good to start with. Or at least people thought it was before they realised it was just bloating with constant new (and usually dumb or pointless) mysteries while providing very few answers- most of which were unsatisfying or just existed to attempt to justify unneeded plot points. I'm actually gutted that this series is seemingly heading that direction after such a strong start in the first half of the season. I honestly don't care about underground tunnels, lighthouses, giant spiders in the woods, buses of people, creepy omnipotent voices on the radio etc because it just reminds me of Lost throwing in smoke monsters, polar bears, "the others", the bunker etc. Same shit, new paint. This better not be another "We were in purgatory the whole time and it's just unexplainably weird, y'know?". I have to wait until season 2 starts before I can decide if this is something I drop now or whether the writers actually know what they are doing this time and I'm mistaken.

    • Spot on.. they are repeating history with this one. Lost was only supposed to be 2 seasons, but because of popularity they expanded it to 8 if I remember, while still keeping the original ending they had planned from the beginning. So basically the rest they made up as they went along with no intention of ever giving a real explanation for any of it

    • It's funny that all the fucking times someone said or is afraid that this show could be finish without answers and become Lost 2.0, give always wrong answers to the mysteries explained at this one like "it was a purgatory"and shits like that. These people for the majority in reality didn't watch the entire show or didn't understand the finale. And now same with From. It's sad, but probably this is because there is no more the fancy to watch true mystery shows that require patience and lovenes to learn the characters and empathize with them very slowly. Infact the real defect of the show(and not complaints like in the comment above from those who don't know how to appreciate how a television show of this kind is built) is that he hasn't the typical 24-episode structure of the classic and old-fashioned horizontal series, because for the very diluted time given to the characters and their evolutions and the force to don't satisfy the consumerist and impatient public by not giving them easily "openable" mysteries it suits home very much with his intentions. This is probably because with only 10 episodes the events and the typical philosophical topics covered are not substantial enough and for some this turns into a bit weak result. Remains the fact that for those who love these atmospheres and series that focus on mysteries and characters in a classic way, with a solid addition of horror, this show is almost a must watch

    • Lost’s biggest mistake was training people to think it wasn’t going to give them any answers. Once it had an ending it was freely handing out answers and people were just like eww no more mysteries. They 100% weren’t in purgatory or dead but in order to understand what did happen you need to have incorporated information from a bunch of different open ended answers and nobody did that.

  • The moment I saw the scene of the old lady in the window and the little girl I was hooked on this show. Idk about what other people think but to me this scene was a masterpiece of horror. The monsters in this show are to me examples of the perfect monster for a show or movie. They capture the primal fears of so many of us especially children. The fear of the dark, of strangers, that little bit of protection children think they get hiding under the blanket almost relates to the talismans being hung by the windows to protect everyone when something like that seemingly would never work when all there is is a thin window of glass separating you from a gruesome death. I also love how they don’t shy away from the sheer gore and torture. The mangled bodies in the aftermath of the attacks shows you just how evil these things are and it’s exactly what I as a child always imagined monsters would do to someone if they were caught. I truly hope they don’t make the mistake of revealing every secret about these monsters and this place. I think the scariest thing about monsters is the mystery of not knowing much about them, what they are or why they do what they do. It’s so much scarier to think that these things just kill and torture people because they simply are evil instead of them having some secret agenda. The mystery of the unknown and the unexplainable will always be the best part of horror.

If you look up stories about Skinwalkers from Native culture you'll find that 3 consistent characteristics are their ability to shape-shift, their tendency to pose as loved ones or ppl you know which leads to the last one being that according to the stories they have to pretend to be ppl you know because they can't enter a home without being invited in.

  • Has anyone wondered about the dream Tabitha had where she was coming up the basement stairs, then it turns into old spiral stairs that are seemingly made out of rock (a lighthouse perhaps)? She gets to the top and Jim is hanging upside down screaming, then she wakes up. But what really got my attention was the list of 4 digit numbers written in the rock wall in the background when she looked up at upside down, hanging Jim. They seemed like year dates. I paused and found numbers (some harder to read than others) 1506, 1609, 1672, 1715, 1752, 1833 (could be 1888), 1864, 1931 and 1978 written in random spots on a wall behind Tabitha. My theory is 1931 is the year Martin (old man hanging on the chains in S1E1) ended up in the town, while 1978 could be the year Victor came to town. Other than that, I think these numbers hold a major key to the mystery of this place. If anyone else has a theory about this they want to share or add on, be my guest.

If a series has a hit show with high viewership and everyone involved with the series would like to continue with the series - wouldn't it be smarter to continue it? Netflix cuts fantastic, high fan based that are bringing in viewers for so many shows that are much cheaper, no where near quality of others that don't work. You can see a majority of those shows don't work from the beginning. Wouldn't it be better to invest in the long time running series than pouring tons of money into random series with low quality & poor material hoping for a hit? Another good show just like this I liked is Outer Range. Similar concept a worm hole on some guy's ranch transports people back and forth thru time. But that's more time travel with no creatures whereas this is another pocket dimension. Another great show exactly like this is wayward pines about a group of people who enter a town and are trapped there and can't get out and nobody knows what's going on while creatures outside come to hunt them at night. It's almost a copy of this show and it's awesome but it only ran for two amazing seasons. Plus one more great show is Archive 81 which is a great first season but didn't get renewed. Looks like some kind of giant experiment but I ,ight be wrong bcz it does not explain the road tree and talisman. the electricity is big mystery . The only constant is the road tree and ravens. Boyd's beard and Victor's hair looks very different from (not pun intended) previous episodes. Probably (like it happened with Doom Patrol) they were on the need to push the last episode of first season to the first of the second. I don't believe they're dead nor they're trapped by aliens. I'm mostly towards the theory of a pocket universe, but I got very curious about how come all inhabitants are FROM all opposites parts in the U.S.A Bartender Tom's IS the voice! But who (or what) he is... no clue So, I think that episode 10 was the construction for the season finale, and maybe there was one more episode (maybe two) with a HUGE twist at the end. I just cannot keep away the idea that all people with mental issues are kind of connected to the place. Sara, Abby, Jade even Ethan. They all have this kind of connection between them and "the voices" on a different level, those who heard, those who don't but can "see". And I don't think the boy in white is "helping", all the contrary. My bet is in him manipulating those who are "weak" (that's why he didn't appear in front of Jade) Eagerly awaiting for season 2 Gonna be a LONG wait

  • Some overall questions / observations: Why does it take Boyd so long to try and leave again? He says the first campsite was a far as he had been before. Was he waiting for Kenny to mature to where he could take over? Was he waiting for someone like Sarah appear. Also, why did it take Boyd's arrival for farm stock to found and talismans (and why were they way out in the woods guarded by a wolf that leads Boyd to them?) Are the hallucinations actually replays of past cycles? The petroglyphs in cavern below house show story of people arriving by ship to the area, very ago, if one thinks these are Vikings or early colonist which is possible) And how much more does Victor know being the survivor of the previous cycle? Far Away Trees, The Creature's Den and glimpses of the future. It seems the whole thing seems to center on Boyd, Sarah , Victor, Ethan and Ethan. The last two also being the only ones who can Vox Smith, the boy in white whom has been around since Victor was a child. I know there are several theories about the creatures - aliens, vampires and many others. But if we keep this supernatural, perhaps they are past "survivors" from previous cycles. So, let me posit something based on the cavern petroglyphs. Assume the 1st people to come here, on the boats, were the 1st colonist from places like England, Spain, etc. to the new world. Maybe we are even at Roanoke. Unable to survive by raising food, the succumb to cannibalism, ultimately being possessed by Wendigo spirits. Forever cursed to walk the area of the town as cannibalistic creatures of the night. How they developed a way to isolate the area and bring in fresh meat is unknown as of yet. Finally, the tour bus. Who or what is on it, if anything? More people, in masse? Monster hunters? MIBs or is it empty and the way out.

So you are safe inside. - Observe and study monster's behaviour. Is the count of monsters same every night ? do monsters appear same every night ? what they do when they cant enter any house ? Try finding patters in their movements. This information will be helpful in tackling them. -Its shown that monsters can be burnt. There are 100s of cars that Victor knows. Use gasoline from them and try to throws burning objects on monsters from within the safe bounds of talisman safe space. -Create few catapults on top of houses. use burning things or sharp objects to hurt atleast few monsters. check if they can regrow each night. - create few trapping pits(atleast 10-15 feets deep) in ground. see if mosters fall in them, check if they can get out. if not what happens of them once sun comes. -build traps, check if monsters can be put in custody. monsters dont seem to have supernatural strength. so check of monsters can be trapped in some metal traps. - try building a dead fall trap. try crushing them under heavy weights.

  • Just finished binging this series and this is a great analysis. One big problem I had was with the characters complete lack of questioning the workings of the talismans. Hopefully it will be explained in the future, but if the characters arent questioning or experimenting with the functions of their one safety object, it just feels like theyre stupid or the writing in the show is just bad. Do the talismans only work if theyre the OG stones from the cave? What would happen if you just carve or paint the symbol into every wall in your house. Imagine a fence around the city and the symbol on the talisman is carved along the edges. Or a talisman on each door. There are so many applications and possibilities with the talismans that could be explored but instead they just take it at face value and dont even try to further their knowledge. Seems kind of ridiculous that NOONE in the whole town would think of these basic questions and if they have, it should be addressed and debunked. I am on board for a next season but I hope that a lot of the questions you brought up are addressed. I dont want to deal with another Lost situation where the writers clearly dont have the answers to the questions and they are just duct taping their story together with mystery as they go on.

  • Ok- when you were talking about the demarcation of how people arrived to the town….. it looks like a tree not just a line! So we could imagine that the tree that everyone arrives to before trying to "turn around" to go around it is very significant! Perhaps the first people (monsters) who arrived tried to block the way for others with this big tree without understanding that once inside the “pocket dimension” there was no way around or out! Just some thoughts lol

  • Thanks for going through and picking out the clues. I enjoy the show a lot but I haven't done much theorizing about it. It's like they write the show assuming you've done the homework. Which is fine if you have. But if you haven't then certain things seem random and pointless. Like the spider thing seemed ridiculous to me until I read somewhere that there were spiders in one of the drawings. And even then it was like 🤷🏽‍♂️. It seem like this place is some sort of crucible.

  • I think Nathan was right about the town pushing back if you try to escape. I think they’re being watched by the creatures and they enjoy toying with the residents (kinda like a cat playing with its prey before eating it). From when Kenny told Boyd that it’s only a matter of time before they run out of places to hide, also the voice on the radio mocking them. It’s like giving them hope and then ripping it from them for it’s amusement. The bus arriving at the end just shows that the cycle is about to continue and there’s actually no way out

  • The little boy probably created the town to the best of his understanding to protect the stranded. That'd explain the electricity, and the use of symbol stones, and the tree-portals. They are possibly in Fairyland!👁.lol That'd explain everything! Of course they'd use a fallen tree to abduct Humans. Fairy folk/Fae etc were the 'aliens' of today, and did pretty much did the same kinda things in an old perception. The lighthouse is possibly the Fairy ring/spaceship which lures rather than wards, Humans in the physical realm entry into Fairyland. The 'little boy' shows no signs of being Human at all, hence playing around in a street of dead Humans with Victor. He seems to help avoid deaths simply to stop a foreseen event. IMO 'he' is a old fairy (stop it!) who took the mind of a child to understand Humans & their world. The lighthouse maybe luring the reincarnated souls of the Fairy & Human first encounter on those ships. The flashbacks may be memories of each period they were there in Fairyland, and failed some task. OR the Humans drawn there are actually Fairy-folk who tried escaping the realm? I bet it's even crazier than that in season 2!YAY!

    @TheFith67@TheFith672 жыл бұрын
    • Seriously great observations! Let’s not forge, as you pointed out fairies/aliens; in the old days it was often Demons, as an alternative to fairies. You know, sleep paralysis was often seen as demon stuff rather than alien abduction. I mention this because the Demon angle would plan to the Purgatory/hell idea.

      @MFLimited@MFLimited2 жыл бұрын
    • @@MFLimited I recon 'aliens' are the Fae, so am biased towards that angle. But I hope the writers go that way. It'll be very interesting on so many levels (to me anyway.lol). The Fae are not demonic, but are some kinda Nature entities. As with Nature, they are apathetic towards Human Nature, but HIGHLY concerned with reproduction, flower pollination etc. I'm guessing that the night monsters are the Demons who are invading that realm. They possibly are turning it into purgatory. They can't help themselves. To me it's a 'What if Fairfolk had a war with Demons?' scenario. THAT hasn't been done!🤠

I think that it is NOT part of the Drawing but one of the Electrical Wires hanging from above. If you check it in the Episode especially how the Light is reflecting on it you will agree too. It needs some persistence though because this Wire is only shown for a Fraction of a Second.

  • I am looking forward to season 2. But I really hope they address a lot of the issues in this first season. I think the premise and production/setting is well done. Other then that though I don't have much hopes for the show. For the most part the acting is just so-so with the exception of Harold Perrineau who absolutely crushed it and for me personally he was the main saving grace of the show. To me the biggest issues with the show other then being a "Blue ball mystery" with no sort of pay off the entire season, has got to be the writing and the characters. There were a couple characters I enjoyed but most of them I just found flat and boring. Even after 10 episodes if you killed off like 97% of the characters on the show, I wouldn't really give 2 sh* and I think a large part of that has to do with the character writing and especially the dialogue. For such a character and dialogue driven show I think they are both pretty atrocious. But like I said BECAUSE of Harold Perrineau and the initial premise I'll give season 2 a chance.

    @slip6hazard9@slip6hazard92 жыл бұрын
    • Couldn't agree more. I found myself fast forwarding through a lot of the scenes where it's just characters talking about predictable interpersonal bullshit. With such an interesting premise it's a missed opportunity for dialogue that goes beyond surface level trite conversation.

  • Kudos to all Seekers of the Truth here! Let me add a bunch of questions to the wall inda Jim's house. 1. Why lamp in our house blinking sometimes? Is this some channel with the "UpsideDown" like in Stranger things? By the way, two silhuettes of men connected to each other pictured on talismans may be a metaphor to the "UpsideDown" nature of this place. 2. Are these monsters feed from the flesh of inhabitants, or just killing for fun? So do they have some resource they have to "refill". We heard that Viktor said that they sleep in caves under the houses (and this was also drawn on the Snowball picture - a system of connected tonnels) So they have to sleep, right? Are they vulnerable in this state? 3. Monsters seems to be ignorant to gunshots and probably to punches and melee weapons. But can they be immobilized somehow? When if Jade saw immobilized monster under the rock in his vision? 4. wtf longtime ago lost bracelet of Jim's doing here? 5. Popular theory: this is some kind of "game", people (and probably monsters) are avatars\players and this cycle\level has to be finished under some conditions. Now we start asking: who are creators of this game? Probably they noticed Jade's inquisitive mind eventually (after he stopped being st0ned and less jerkish) and they might try to force him off the big Antenna idea through visions of Civil War soldier attacking him. And after that they summoned a big storm right in the direction of the Colony House (who knows, maybe it comes from the LightHouse, since Boyd and Sara saw it too - we connecting just two dots here). And after that we had a direct message from moderators through finally working radio (it was still a day, so we assuming that monsters are still asleep) This game theory makes me think: what if Boy in White not a sparkle of Good forces here, but just an moderators avatar to check out how it goes? That's why he is calmly hanging out wherever and whenever he wants. And what if he was not helping to Boyd and Sara, but trying to stop them from "pushing too hard" - so he shown then Faraway Tree as a salvation. But it's pretty obvious that Sara may decide to go further, instead of following Boyd. And she can met the Architect inside LightHouse, haha. 6. Since Sara heard voice of Boyd's wife - we may assume that souls\minds of dead are still hanging around and tries to give some advice through Sara. Like a spectators in game who still has access to chat and since they can navigate world in "ghost mode" - they can gather additional info about this place and probably even understand it's nature, but they can't transmit it in a qualitative way. I tend to believe that some of these spectators "rooting" for salvation of those who still alive, and somehow they may share this salvation. But there may be a portion of trolls\tricksters who just sending message "KILL THE BOY, LOL" OR this is another channel of moderators and they pretend to be some "voices". From the point of view of regular folks - many of things are supernatural there - we can made an assumption that it's possible for moderators to read minds and provide some "proofs" of "spiritual force" which they demonstrated with the Father's bag and with Boyd's "nickname" 7. Can talismans be rerproduced? What if try to do a replica and test it in the Box with some citizen who volonteered or commited a crime. Can talismans hurt monsters? Also i saw an opinion that maybe if u hang talisman in a car - you can leave this place, coz in works like "anti-magic" and probably can destruct the Looping Illusion 8. You mentioned list of years on the stone inside lighthouse inside Tabitha's nightmare (and by the way Jim was hanged UpsideDown there) I think we can got a clue by analyzing intervals. (it's 4 AM for me, and my brain has no power for it) For example there are 1888 and 1864. Does it mean that somehow problem was solved (or everybody died) and the new cycle was started (with new fashion skins for monsters) Inside the bottle Boyd found a piece of paper with the same date - 1864. We may assume that other bottles contains similar years as we saw in Tabitha's dream. Who knows, maybe it's a some form of milestone made by previous adventurers, trying to give future iterations of themselves an additional info (about the scale of the game) and hope (you are on the right way, buddy, don't stop) 9. Have you seen that one of the Colony girls is pregnant? If this is a purgatory for souls - what kind of a soul will be born in that way? Who knows, maybe to win you have to born a child. 10. I tend to believe to Viktors calculations on how the timberline is moving - but what it may be? That's it for today! I finished the From only yesterday and have not read any big articles nor forums, so please do not blame me if i mentioned some obvious things. Thank you!
