    • @@ezmereldagoradesky Thank you! It's wonderful that you have a heart for helping people. You may be able to overcome your aversion to blood but there are also many bloodless options in healthcare like physical, occupational, or speech therapy, clinical psychology, etc. I always thought medicine was for me and got as far as premed at UCLA but ended up very anxious, despite doing well academically. The only time I felt at ease was when I was helping classmates with our homework and they'd tell me I explained it in a way that finally made sense. So after much soul searching, I switched majors, got my master's and teaching credential and became a high school teacher. Not as "prestigious" as medicine, but over 150 teenagers came through my room each day and whether it was preparing them to smash an AP test, supporting English learners, or just providing a safe space for kids having a hard time, I knew I was touching kids' lives in a positive way. In this season of life I've chosen to step away from teaching to focus on family. I love being a human mom, dog mom, and a wife who can hold down the fort to support my husband's demanding career. I get to spend time volunteering in the community and devoting myself to the people I love most. Long story short, there are SO many ways to help people in each stage of life, so whether that is medicine for you or something entirely different, follow your passion and your strengths and you'll find your way.

  • AH YESSSS Dr Sanjay June - he made a fantastic point and this world sooooo needs those kind of teachers in education. To help make sense to make logic to make relevance of subjects or of what is being taught or learned. That is soooo vital and i believe to be key to school education. I discovered that way later in life when i started to do way better in math and in grammar of all things in my writing out paragraphs and sentence structure (unlike now because i am in a hurry) not one teacher took the time to make the connections to it all for my daily life. I got better at things when i discovered relevance when i got old and too late to go to college. To all who have youngins to raise, start now while you can to explain to them the connections to math , language , social studies and so on so they will feel connected to the subjects and know why the need to learn it and what it is for , from basic math for paying bills to making huge investments for finances or making medical spiritual discoveries, math is where its at! anyway i could go on and on but my point is Dr Sanjay June - we need more teachers with that concept he shared!!!

But im in charge of all training and education to our employees which I absolutely love for that reason. Explaining something to people that is generally a pretty scary topic and easing their nerves about the whole thing is something I love. When I started I was Help Desk and i thoroughly enjoyed the role too because I helped people fix problems that for the unsavvy are just really frustrating problems. So even in my roles now, I love the teaching aspect of it.

  • Thank you for these video's for I've had far more negative experiences than not w the provider's I've seen from 2018 on as I had NVR been sick my entire life & the end of 17 my body started systematically falling apart as I became disabled w other medical issue's still unknown so these truly help me not become stuck on the negativity I've experienced while watching my dad go thru hell too as he & I both have the same degenerative spinalcord disease.

  • This was a very fun video Doctor Mike. I recognized a couple docs on this one that my mom watches while I recognized Dr Maliek since I also subbed to her channel to learn from as well. Now I gotta add most of the ones that have channels to add to my list. Thanks Mike. Plz turn this into a series periodically with different doctors.

  • You rock Doctor Hope! What a cool video! Glad to see ophthalmology represented! My dad was one, a long time ago. But things have changed. I went in for a optometrist appointment last week and mentioned my dad was an eye doctor. The optometrist asked "What part of the eye did he specialize in?" I said "Back in my dad's day, they did the WHOLE eye." I think that offended him, though I'm not entirely sure why. It's the truth.
