  • Thanks, finally a US based hybrid review. I think the hybrid is a more proven drivetrain. Also the idea of getting 600 miles per a tank no matter the conditions is pretty appealing.

    • @@MattTheCarguy Yes, we have a tesla model s and it indeed is all electric. However, because of the family of 5 traveling routinely to provincial and national parks, we are planning to buy either a PHEV or a traditional hybrid. We think that the range of PHEVs is very low for going to distant parks. Hence, a hybrid like Santa Fe suites us. It is beautiful looking with lots of space.

In fact, less trips to the gas station and a quieter experience are bigger priorities for her. • I ordered a Limited Hybrid in White with Gray interior. It showed up last week. I went to the dealer thinking I was going to pick it up and drive it home. I went and took it out for a solid hour test drive. City street and highway, about 50% each. The Limited Hybrid has the exact same powertrain as our two 2022 Tucson Hybrids. We have a Limited and an SEL Convenience. The Limited was just under 39K with a 500 rebate and the SEL Convenience was just under 33K with that same rebate. They're great cars and I thought a very good value. The SF is so much more box like in person, it was not appealing to me at all. The ride is nicer than the Tuscon. Quieter, a bit smoother, and very nice on the highway. My main issue was the SF Limited Hybrid is a complete dog and way under powered given the size of it compared to the 22 Tucson Hybrid. I was also less than impressed with the interior of the new SF Hybrid Limited. It looks super cheapo and frankly for 47K and change, I expected better. I walked away from the deal and will happily keep the Tucson (mine is the SEL Convenience) which cost me just about 15K less. I have a feeling the new Santa Fe is going to be a very slow seller for Hyundai. It's vastly over priced for what you get and so under powered it felt dangerous. I can't even imagine driving it on the highway with 6 people onboard, no chance. Just a guess her on my part, but I expect to see 4 to 5K rebates and discounts by the end of summer as well as very nice low interest rate deals. Unless I'm 100% wrong, Hyundai missed the mark hugely on this new SF Hybrid Limited. The Calligraphy is 51K ish. For that money, I'm going Toyota 100%. Hyundai has raised their prices 50% or so over the last 5 years. The huge attraction to Hyundai was the value proposition, that's now gone. If they want to compete with Toyota they have a long way to go. This all comes from someone who's purchased 7 new Hyundai's since 2007. If the car I ordered was 39K, I'd still balk. They need to up the power by at least 100 horsepower to get this thing up to speed. I was so excited to buy it, and now I'm totally bummed. I think it's the first total #fail by Hyundai in a very long time. I've yet to see one on the street here. That's odd because Hyundai's dominate the roads where we live. I see hundreds of them every week, but not a single 24 SF. That's very telling, IMHO.

    • @@user-fv5yo5fi5c Well the test drive will definitely be the deciding factor on whether we keep it or not. But we've already been inside a Limited ICE version and we loved it - thought it punched way above its weight for features and overall fit and finish. You're the first person I've heard complain about the dogged nature of the hybrid powertrain. Sources are reporting mid-7 second 0-60 times and good torque off the line, which seems more than adequate for a family SUV. If my wife doesn't like the way it drives, we'll probably just swap over to the 2.5T and deal with the MPG hit.

    • @@brekdown29 Hello my friend, I probably come across as too critical on the Limited Hybrid. Our 22 Tucson Hybrids have the same engine and trans. They're peppy in sport mode, but hardly fast. I sincerely hope both of you love it and buy it. My opinion is just one out a million. Do me a favor and report back with your thoughts if you wouldn't mind. I have a hard time with the 47K plus since we paid just under 39 for the 22 Tucson Limited, which I really love. I went in wanting so badly to love the new 24 SF. I'm a Hyundai guy and have been since 07. Maybe a second test drive is needed. I think they sold the one I ordered a few hours after I declined it. The dealer was awesome about it. Good luck, however you decide to go. Cheers from Chicago.

    • @@MattTheCarguy Also 50% more gas burned and pumped into the air. Hybrid is the way to go again in my opinion. The carbon cost of the little battery is tiny and the hybrid engine is smaller too. That combine I'd say you have very clear financial and environmental reason to go hybrid. $300 a year over 8 years is alot. Plus you save ~$1000 on brakes (if you do it yourself $500 and a weekend) over the life of the car. Plus reduced utilization of the catalytic and other exhaust components. Anyways whatever, I'm just a rando internet commenter, people will do what they want and not care. Just seems like there is a clear winner to me. Either way I'm a big fan of the car.
