  • As an ecologist in training, please keep promoting the capture and eating of the invasive American signal crayfish, these are the big red tasty ones as a posed to the small blue - green ones, they are very invasive and outcompete the native species of crayfish, other invertebrates and some small fish.

    • The main impact of non-native signal crayfish is that they spread a disease to the native white clawed crayfish called crayfish plague. This is fatal for white clawed but doesnt affect the signals.

  • Fantastic video . That looked a bonny day out ! Good to see that you identified the invasive signals as the ones that are okay to eat . Not only have they decimated the indigenous Cray population but they do the same with fish spawn and have added to the decline of fish population. Perch may have benefited as they have an easy food source available to them in the signals and are getting huge these days . but others haven't fared so well . Definitely did your bit for that Rivers ecological balance and had a hearty meal into the bargain. Great work . Look forward to your next instalments 👏 👍 👌

Maybe I have missed it somewhere, but would quite like to know what camera/video stuff you take on the multi day hikes and how you go with batteries. Do you just not shoot too much at a time to conserve power, take a few batteries as well as your power bank, etc.??
