#jeopardy
7 wonders to choose from, only one had light on top of it.
I thought it was the great pyramid. The mountain shape, and the rising sun was the golden capstone.
Exactly what I thought, too.
Exactly what I thought
I thought it was the Colossus of Rhodes. Thought it was huge and from bronze, so the sun would reflect off the head.
I said Great Pyramid of Giza because of "mountain", and I seem to remember that it was topped with a capstone.
The capstone was said to have shone as bright as the sun
Same here.
The only problem with the pyramid is that it didn't have a "second sun" and the lighthouse of Alexandria had a cauldron of fire at the top which would have been interpreted by visitors sailors and ancients as being a second sun.
Briefly eclipsed by the library in 48 BCE.
Thank you for using BCE
Our Homage is due to Jeopardy, for the Ding, Ding Outro!
People really need to read and understand the 2/3 betting strategy for Final Jeopardy.
Achilles Last Stand 🎸
I guess she put that smiley face ironically. Cuz she was opposite of smiling.
I thought Collossus of Rhodes at first too.
I knew it was the lighthouse, I just couldn’t remember where the lighthouse was.
Ach I was in the right part of the world. I was thinking Pyramid though but the sun at the top didn't fit. I also thought maybe a tomb with a sun drawn in as a doorway to the Gods. When I heard the answer I kicked myself. I had forgotten about the lighthouse.
I figured it could not have been the Colossus because that wasn’t on a mountain. All I could think of was the Parthenon. The other Wonders I knew of were the Pyramids, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, and the Temple of Zeus. Of the other two I couldn’t think of, one of them was the correct response.
I got it! Yayy. Now to remember to tell the grandkids.
(spoilers block for mobile) . . . . I thought this was fairly straightforward, and I'm surprised nobody got it. The issue is getting there and writing two ten-letter words in 30 seconds. "Second sun" had to refer to the lighthouse. I mean, you could rule out the Hanging Gardens right away (they may have been a myth as it is), and I believe the Great Statue of Zeus was indoors, so that one was not it, either. The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus and Temple of Artemis were unlikely. That left the Colossus, the pyramids, and lighthouse. Only one of those burned fire. I'd love to visit it someday, after all their work to recreate it.
I didn't know a lighthouse was one of the seven great wonders of the world.

What is the Pharos of Alexandria.
Always put your leftover tuna back in the fridge.
Booya I nailed that.
Congratulations taylor on advancing to the semi finals
Glad to see I'm not the only one who thought great pyramid. This Tatius guy must have felt like a right moron when he saw the lighthouse and was like, "Yeah that looks like a mountain" and then he journeyed further south and realised he'd used his best similie a bit too early
Do we know if he traveled farther south? I don't think he did and he could have been on a boat in the Mediterranean and seeing the lighthouse would have looked like a mountain. Also the second sun was referring to the flame that acted like the beacon at the top of the lighthouse
Did anyone else play Civ II?
Yup. Still remember the wonder movies. The one for The Great Lighthouse was nice - crashing waves, fanciful Renaissance artwork, music clearly inspired from the score to Last of the Mohicans.
Any Civ, really.
I knew right away that it was the Pharos of Alexandria(its the same as the Lighthouse of Alexandria) from a few context clues. First was the arthurs name sounded greek to me so i narrowed it down to that and the colssus of rhodes. The second clue was the second sun. I figured out that that had to refer to the light at the top of the lighthouse.
What was that woman thinking, wagering 9k with a smiley face while not even being in the lead???? That didn't even look like she didn't finish writing????
She didn't know what the clue was when she entered her wager.
I got this Final Jeopardy! clue right.
I wonder if they would have accepted Pharos Lighthouse???? If they had insisted on the place, I would not have come up with it in 30 seconds or maybe 30 minutes.

DID NONE OF THESE PEOPLE PLAY ASSASSIN’S CREED ORIGINS!?!?!? My guess is no, because THEY WOULD HAVE GOTTEN IT LIKE I DID IF THEY HAD >_
I have never played that game but I did get it correct right away. I even said the correct name of the lighthouse which is the Pharos of Alexandria.
