    • Why? He got to play fantasy camp for celebrities. It would have taken balls to step into the cage at a amateur fight, not a UFC PPV. Rewatch the way this clown milked his entrance and Bruce Buffer announcing him. He got clowned in the fight and never threw one punch and said this was the second best day of his life. This was UFC doing Make a Wish for a celebrity, is Kevin James or David Spade next?

    • Phil Buckhouse I guess you don't understand how it works. Its kinda like musical chairs, there are not enough seats to go around. For every fighter in the UFC there are literally hundreds of people fighting to get there. 500k winnings can feed many fighters not just ONE celebrity poser...

      @FoxifiedNutjob@FoxifiedNutjob7 жыл бұрын
    • One celebrity poser who brought in a lot of PPV buys. He was the main attraction, he got paid accordingly, and he raised the profile of a young up and comer in Gall. Apparently it's you who doesn't understand how the business works. You could put 500 completely unknown fighters on the same bill over the course of a week long card (if that were humanly possible) and pay them 1k each, and they wouldn't sell a 10th of the tickets or PPVs Punk would've brought in. Simple. It's not like he walked in having done no work to make this a reality either.

In the end though, I have no idea what the UFC's "agenda" was for CM Punk's signing. Maybe this was exactly the outcome they wanted.

No point in going out of our way to hate on the dude. Hes actually good for the sport, cause of him Mickey Gall got to shine which was well deserved and it also dragged in a lot of new audience to the sport aswell. People are too caught up in whether he belongs in there or not and i understand a fighter complaining but never made sense why people sitting behind a keyboard who never had a single pro fight in their life are complaining lol like Punk took their one shot to get into UFC lol

That doesnt take balls or courage, stepping foot in a cage or octagon at some amateur shows would have taken balls. This was UFC's version of Make a Wish for a multi millionaire celebrity that had zero fucking business being on this card or getting the attention he got.

    • +Ivan Drago so all these "keyboard warriors" would take the next fight if it was offered to them, yeh why not because according to you "fuck yeh they would...it doesnt take balls". Punk also said it himself, he wanted to start at the bottom, he didnt demand to be put on the main card, he didnt demand any media attention, he was very introverted leading up to the fight compared to other established fighters. All the over exposure was entirely up to UFC

I'm not one of these fans that sits on my couch and says I'm better then that guy. That said what resume did Punk have to be among the elite of the elite of professional MMA fighters. That is total bullshit about him wanting to do amateur fights. Then why didnt he, why did he not do a local promotion in Chicago then. Did Dana White force him with a gun too sign a UFC contract?

      @5IvanDrago5@5IvanDrago57 жыл бұрын
    • +Ivan Drago because like you said (the 2nd time, not the one about the internet smarks) anyone with an athletic background would take that opportunity, those opportunities dont come to everyone, even established fighters, Punk is 37 and perhaps he thought even with some am fights under my belt i might not make it to the main. idk. but i feel if that if Dana had put him on the pre-lims, which in a business sense would have been a bad decision, we wouldn't be having this convo

You need an incredible amount of time to be at that level. And it's not like riding a bike. It's just not. And although it was fun for you (great), this is about millions of people watching a fight between equal opponents and enjoying the actual art of fighting and MMA. You can't possibly enjoy watching a guy get beat up like this, so for the fans this was really tough to watch. You don't put an experienced young surgeon and 2 year medicine student next to each other and expect them to perform surgery in the same way. You just don't do it. We all knew he was going to lose. CM Punk is so hard on himself and that's unfair. I'm sorry but I want to see a fight between equal opponents. I don't enjoy seeing someone who's just starting against someone who's by comparison quite experienced.

Who gets into ufc or any legit pro fighting with a record of 0-0? Not even an amateur fight at all. Its unbelievable that the athletic committee even allowed this to happen. He could have seriously gotten hurt or killed. In those two minutes he was more at risk and probably hurt more than at wwe where he talked so much shit about putting his health at risk. lol! Waa! Ryback kicked me in the ribs. Waa I can't take a kick from Ryback. I'm dumb as fuck so I'm gonna be the best mma, no UFC fighter in the world!!! LMAO!

At first I thought he was gonna come in cocky and what not, then in the lead up to the fight with all the interviews he seemed to really be a stand up guy, now I know he is. I feel for him, especially because he is almost 40 years old and to be honest starting a mixed martial arts career at that age is pretty much not possible, but the guy had balls. And the other WWE fans and even WWE wrestlers who write shitty tweets to Connor McGregor need to realize this. This isn't wrestling. This isn't sports entertainment. Just because you can fake punch a guy who gets in position for you or lift up a guy who jumps for you to be able to lift him, it does NOT mean you can last in the octogon. It's two VERY different situations. 98% of WWE wrestlers would get raped and murdered by the average MMA fighter, so imagine them trying to face some of the best that UFC has to offer. Hope this is a wake up call to WWE cunts.

And he's stayed that way, pretty much all the way up until Mickey Gall beat him back to reality. I respect his balls, because I certainly wouldn't have walked in off the street and gotten in the cage, and he's been uncharacteristically humble in defeat, which is admirable... but it was still really satisfying to see him get shut up in such an embarrassing manner. In spite of what he may be saying, and whether it's his choice or not, I don't think we'll ever see him in the UFC again. And I'm glad.

  • i gained a ton of respect for Punk after this. he stepped up and trained hard. made the walk to the octagon, got in there and fought. anyone who knows combat knows how tough it is to get in the cage and compete. the real fighters knew he was going to get smoked but what really matters is that he actually got in there and gave it his best. props

  • Much respect to CM Punk. I ranted about how terrible he was and how he was going to eat it hard. I'm glad to have heard him speak and to realize that it takes courage to step into a whole different job. He did it and gave it his all. Sure he is less skilled than Gall but to see him try, under the lights, millions watching, to not have it go your way, get beat up and then have your wife come up to you to say, "I'm still proud of you..." that's it man. I give him so much respect.

    • You don't get payed for your ability, you stupid bitch. You get payed for the amount of press and attention you bring to the event and the amount of asses you put in seats. CM Punk had A LOT of controversy and attention surrounding him and this fight, so he deserved the paycheque he got. You can be the best fighter in the world, if no one gives a shit about you, if you cannot sell a PPV, you ain't getting payed like those who can sunshine!

    • +RealSupaHotFireVEVO my point is a lot of successful people start their way the hard way and they fail miserably but with hard work and perseverance they can achieve what they want. Also the way punk reacted so positively after the fight tells he is going to make it someday. I can bring you some examples of people who failed initially but ended up being successful and famous but i think you get the point.

    • +iPhone Gaming Sorry but unless he trains for at least 5 more years he's not gonna do shit in the octagon. Yeah you need heart and perseverance but it comes down to raw talent and Punk has shown that he has none. Lesnar was a NCAA champ while Punk is well.... nothing.
