⚡️MAGNETIC⚡️ - Making A Magnetic Leather Money Clip - Leather Craft
In this leather craft video I show my process of making a magnetic tooled leather money clip from start to finish. This money clip holds cash via two powerful Neodymium magnets that are sandwiched between two pieces of natural vegetable tanned leather. The outside of the money clip is tooled with a basket weave pattern and is hand stitched together using purple Tiger threaded that matches the purple dyed basket weave accent colors. The edges of the clip are beveled and burnished by hand, and the surfaces have an antique finish applied to help give the clip a vintage look. The purple looks great with the black. I just got and air brush. I see you just spray in your shop.
Thanks. I do all my airbrushing in my wood shop where I have my homemade ventilation station set up. It’s never a good idea to breathe in any dye particles.
What is the white paste you use for burnishing your edges? I've seen you dab that on in every video. I'm new to the craft, looking to learn more so I can create masterpieces like yours. Thanks and God bless.

Are those Barry King stamps? If not, do you have a preference? Great project! You are the only person that I have ever seen air brush leather, lol!
Those are Craftool brand stamps. I don’t really have any preference. You can really control your dye amount well using an airbrush. But I also love the look of a hand rubbed finish too.
Nice! Now make one from horse hide that can hold 12-14 cards and some cash. Then I'd buy one.

What edge slicking fluid is in the small bottle with the fine diameter tube?

Hi, can you tell me how you get burnishing cream in that little bottle that has the tip on it? Do you water it down. I bought some bottles but can’t figure out how to get the tokonole in the bottle.
I take the top off the bottle then squeeze it before dipping it directly into the Tokonole. I let loose the bottle and let it suck the Tokonole up.

What’s the measurements of the boxes for your basket weave?
The stamp itself is 8mm x 5mm
So i tried making it to this specs. Used 4oz leather, the magnets from Tandy werent strong enough. The pattern i made didnt work.
I would make sure the leather is not thicker than 1.5mm. 4oz leather thickness usually starts around 1.6mm and up. I’m not sure what kind of magnets Tandy sells but I got mine from eBay.com and they are super strong.
