The twisted love story of a teenager and his obsessively jealous 1958 Plymouth Fury.
That's very wise, running from a car in the middle of the road.
Buddy wasn't the brightest bulb on the marquee 😁
Because if he ran slightly OFF the road the DEMONIC whip can drive itself and regenerate at will would be powerless to whack him. The movie should've ended rite there with Buddy running slightly OFF ROAD and WINNING so as to appease autistic Internet commenters from the future 💯
Yup... That actor nailed that prick Buddy right on down to the letter. Christine was a little easier on Buddy then I would have imagined though. His death was rather merciful compared to some of the others. Perhaps the demon had some level of admiration for Buddy's morally bankrupt code he lived by. Certainly wasn't his intelligence.
That's what I would have done.
@@mr.nibblenips4231 and would die same way.
Most iconic moment of the movie. Christine emerges from the explosion on fire like she came from the depths of hell.
Sim eu tenho tanta apreço nesta cena!
She did
Just like the book. Hats off to the master John Capenter.
for me it is between this moment and Christine rebuilding herself
Like she came from the depths of hell? Hell spit her back. There are limits even in hell, and Christine has none.
Can we just take a moment and appreciate the lamb chops on buddy. They are on point 😂
You mean his thighs?

You don't fuck with Christine
Second to none
love how the headlights look on film. The flaming Christine driving after him is the most terrifying scene in the movie!
Il aurait pu courir dans les champs😂
carpenter said they had to keep replacing the headlights because they had 24 volts hooked to them to make em that bright.
I wouldn't say terrifying... id say satisfying

Especially in a horror movie.
Absolutely love how Christine drags the car back like a predator dragging the carcass of an animal away in their teeth
lmao

I mean, she was.
lol. When she rammed Buddy’s car the first time, she got stuck in it and was trying to free herself. But I do like that the first thing she did was damaged his car like he did with her.
Shout-out to the special FX team on this movie. What a fantastic job they´ve done!
Ole Buddy Repperton. The 43 year old high school senior.
Gotta hand it to him; he stuck with it. If Christine didn’t kill him, I think that might of been the year he was finally gonna graduate.
"I wasted 7 years of college!"
I know. That would make him an excellent candidate for federal law enforcement.
He was actually 23, got held back a few years I guess. So yes, folks, Buddy will be 64 in 2024.
@@thelastperfectman4139 No he was expelled for pulling a knife on Arnie and had no interest in trying to get back in.
The guy driving literally looks like a mix of Attila from Lionheart and a young John Travolta! 😂😂😂
Same toughs
And just a dash of Jim Morrison

I like how the tow truck is just ignoring the whole situation.
Mater knows how to lay low.
And, at the end, it's the sole survivor of the entire gas station explosion.
It didn’t want any part of Christine! 😂
@@anb7408 , it is a redpill tow truck, doesn't relate to any random bitch around him.
Most cars know how to behave.
This scene always cracks me up: "I'm running from the possessed car - I know, I'll run down the CENTER of the paved road - forget the perfectly good trees on either side of me."
Panic will absolutely mess with your thinking like that.
Well, obviously he was not just a bully, but one who also loved trees. He just kept it a secret. You really think that people would fear him if they ever discovered that he was a tree lover as well? Come'on, man.
A forest fire would have ensued. Props to Buddy sacrificing himself for Mother Nature.
Which means he would have burned alive in the forest instead of getting run over. Because Christine would make damn sure he wouldn't get out of there alive.
He doesn't know it's a possessed car. He thinks Arnold Cunningham is driving it and Arnold won't have the guts to run him down in cold blood.
"He's backing up too" Thanks for the play by play
Ahh the 80's, when the rule was "if gas station exists, it blows up!"
Also the old “sneak up behind bad guy and twist neck with hands, to a cool cracking noise” move. Directors need to bring this back
Oh yeah? Rambo says otherwise!! EDIT: oh yeah, gas station burns in First Blood...
@@ohger1 from Rambo to Robocop, those stations gotta' go up!
So many 60s/70s full serve stations were being torn down in the TMZ that they jumped at the chance to get paid to demolish the station for the land developer.
Someone needs to start an 80s horror movie troupe list. Here's mine: If a girl is running through the woods in high heels, she's definitely about to trip, fall, and die. If a black character is still alive, the main character is safe. If two teenagers are making out in a car in the woods at night, it's game over for them. The killer isn't dead until the credits roll. And even then he's probably coming back. When a room full of teenagers grabs makeshift weapons, someone will absolutely grab the most useless thing in the room. When a group decides to barricade the doors and windows, there will always be a large supply of hammers, boards, and nails located in the house. And they will always nail them up at weirdly random angles. Once they're safe inside, the one thing they need in order to survive is located in the car they parked unnecessarily far away, but still in plain sight. All teenagers look 35 years old. There are probably no bicycles in the zombie apocalypse because bicycles would solve 99% of the problems in the zombie apocalypse.
Hard to believe that this movie is 40 years old. 1983.
I was only 1 years old at that time ..crazy time goes so fast
@@dirtysanchez5154 I was 22, at that time.😉
13 for me.
6 years old over here lol
And my car is 50 years old and still running, Yeah 🙂
2:39 i love the actor's reaction to the scene. Like it took his breath away and he's in serious deep shit.
Top tier acting fr
Buddy knows he's about to die . He's just a little bitch without his friends
The image of an on-fire Christine in that scene really stuck with me throughout the years. Kinda like the ultimate flame-paintjob come to life. Kudos to the stunt-driver BTW. IIRC he's interviewed on the DVD or BRD specials and he was basically driving blind in that scene while the car he was sitting in was on fire. And in the interview he made it sound like it was ... nothing. Like it was the same as taking the car out on a Sunday morning to get coffee.. :)
Stunt, MEN.
Christine is the hero, not the villain.
No

To me, that shaggy dude did not pass as being believable as being 18 & still in h.s. Saw it when I was 8. Felt that way then still do. That dude can't be a high school student. The sound effects/music they hit out of the park in Christine.
Why would you think running away from a car down the middle of a road would be a good idea? 😂
@@Sheisthedevilyouknowwho-ft9weThat’s every tv show/ movie in history. They generally go for older actors who look younger, sometimes they miss. Directors would rather work with an older actor.

Buddy: I just hope he comes in here! Christine: lol, ok
Christine has a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
What do you say is it the new killing machine or what?
I just get out of prison, and you pick me up in a cop car?

In every movie where the protagonist is school aged, one of the bad guys is always a school bully who always dies a horrible death near the end. When you think about it, all horror and action movies are about revenge. That’s why there is an audience for this plot because we in real life have our own bully that we wish would suffer.
Everyone has their El Guapo. In our case, our El Guapo happens to also be the actual El Guapo.
I went to all my five-year school reunions. Very large graduating class. By the 40th, there was exactly one of the 20+ bullies and jerks left. One. All the others had either died very young, been murdered or killed themselves using drugs or drink. One. He's still quite the piece of work. Oh, of the non-bullies? Coming up on our 50th Reunion, for my age group, one would expect one in thirteen to be dead. And that's about right. The bullies? 95% death rate. Nobody is shedding any tears for them. And, we didn't even have a Christine to settle the scores.
@@ethelryan257 The best revenge is to live longer, and to be more wealthy, professionally successful, and happy than your bullies. I think the high school reunions have an underlying purpose of seeing it for yourself if you have had your revenge. Revenge is a dish best served cold. Your suffering from these bullies only lasts a few years, but whatever misfortunes the bullies suffer afterward last decades - if they live that long. As much as the pain I suffered from these bullies, as an adult, I feel bad for them by the same degree knowing why they acted the way they did. As adults, we victims realize the sadism of bullies is just a coping mechanism they had used to hide a much deeper pain. Basically bullies secretly suffer more than the pain they inflict on others.
Always good seeing bullies get theirs in the end!
buddy looks like john travolta
Or Jim Morrison
Like a lot of young men tried to back in those days.
That dude decides to try to escape by running on foot right down the center of a road where Christine can easily run him down.....makes total sense 😂
That happens a lot when playing gta online. I don't get why players do that
You're adrenaline is pumping, you're scared shitless, running is the only thing you can think of.
Typical City Boy….. doesn’t know to run across the paddocks
Buddy never was too bright.
Had to make sure is death was iconic
I think this is my favorite John Carpenter movie. The book it's based on is one of Stephen King's morbid masterpieces. I love how the car seems to purr while it's motor is running.
Carpenter really made this car terrifying, it really is very well done. The movie The Car made in the 70's was pretty good too, I think Carpenter took some ideas out of that older movie and employed them in Christine.
@@catfeline1530Actually, Stephen King cites The Car as the main influence for the book.

@@brianmeen2158 Halloween, ok. The Thing is a masterpiece of horror, paranoia, and gore. Very good movie. I think Rob Zombie actually made a better Halloween.
Christine driving down the road on fire is in my top 5 most iconic movie scenes of all time.
To get away from a car, run down the middle of the road! Brilliant!!! Thanks for sharing.
You gotta admire the bully. Paying tribute to his fallen Camero by continuing the drive on foot!😂😂😂😆👍🚗

I loved this scene. Best part is there is no engine in the Camaro if you look closely. lol.
Your eyes are good there is no engine

I noticed that watching it then i saw this comment lol Great scene though
No firewall, no floor pans, frame and body panels I guess
This movie is a masterpiece and i think it really ADDS to the original novel. Absolutely a must-see, no matter what your movie tastes are.
This really is one of those extremely rare movies which actually manage to grasp the story line from the novel and realize it on the big screen. The original 'IT' did that, too.
Yeah, I just finished the book, and while I think the book goes into more detail to explain situations better and flesh out characters more, the movie is a cleaner telling of the story.
I remember when they built this gas station set on the corner of McBean and Valencia Blvd when it was an onion field. I thought it was a strange place for a gas station, then I realized it was a movie set. I grew up in that area and now it's all malls and crowded as hell.
I moved to Valencia in 1990 and I kept looking for the location and thinking there’s no way they could have filmed it in that spot!
@@canamrider07 Yep, they did. It was roughly where The Corner Bakery and Islands is now. I remember when they were building it in the middle of nowhere. It was all onion fields then. I used to ride my bike around there all the time on the way to Valencia library. It was gone in no time.
Aw cmon man! Not the camaro! That's a nice little bowtie! 😭

You mess with Christine, she messes with your car. Tit for tat.
🤣
When You don't need 50 millions dollars to make a great scene😮
That poor Camaro 😢
Hollywood will destroy anything. Back in 1983, sadly, these cars had little to no collector value yet.
I feel like nobody knows the "no high-beams" rule anymore...
And yet they were off at the gas station
I love how quickly Buddy goes from Talking tough with the pipe in his hand to his car being destroyed to one of his friends being murdered to both of his friends being murdered the entire Place being destroyed and he realizing that he's next and no one is coming to save him
Gotta love Carpenter's music
There's never a Hot Air Balloon to jump into when you need one.
Really fantastic practical effects (reversing the film in scenes).
I love the cut from the explosion to the music kicking in when the car is chasing Buddy ❤
1 Christine and 2 They Live my favorite John Carpenter movies.
My all time JC favorites were Prince of Darkness and Big Trouble in Little China. But Christine and They Live are definitely epic movies!
Great scene. Love this movie. As others have noted, the camaro had no engine in it as it's being dragged by Christine. Also the Chevelle on the lift is up before the explosion and down on the floor as the station goes up in flames.
Great catch. Well done. Sad to lose two beautiful cars!
There's actually a deleted scene where we see the other bully get crushed by the chevelle on the lift. Which would explain the scream and why the chevelle is on the ground at the time of the explosion.
If u look good u can see the camero has no engine in it when its hit
The two guys at the beginning look like an evil version of Vinnie Barbarino and Arnold Horshack from "Welcome Back Kotter".
LMAO😂
LOL.
"I hope he comes in here" Christine comes drifting in, on a mission. 🤨
The actor who played Buddy Repperton always reminded me of a more rugged, John Travolta knock off. 🤣👍
When comes to horror movie bullies being punished, the ones created by Stephen King usually get the worst possible punishments.
Another great movie from john carpenter
That Camaro runs really good, considering it doesn't have an engine?
I like the way he's driving looking in the rearview mirror the whole time and not seeing what's in front movies
Christine one of my top 10 movies, watched it a few times every year.
And then comes the spookiest scene in Christine, when the smoldering and white-hot shell calmly pulls into the garage and properly backs into its assigned parking spot.
Christine, the first self driving car to catch on fire before Tesla made it a standard feature.
He always reminded me of the budget John Travolta. Fantastic movie.
Christine turned into Ghost Rider.
"He's backing up too" Well, if he didn't, Buddy would have driven into him.
One of the best explosions in film history.
Fair play to Rockstar Games for having Christine as part of GTA Online, nice effort.
Also available as a downloadable SP add on mod.
What really made.this movie great was the stunt driving team. The way Christine was driven, slow steady speed increases, the fraction longer to brake when menacing and the stalking were perfect and gave a true feeling of a ghost in the machine.
Yeah, but in the movie she was possessed by Satan. Only in the novel was she driven by a ghost. I like the Satan story arc better. A ghost just isn't that scary in my opinion.
Christine interrupted Rick Moranis and John Travolta's date.
That guy was definitely crapping his pants after seeing that. They should've played Don't Fear The Reaper during the chase scene
Actually the best execution scene ever.Serves them right. Except Camaro. It didn’t deserve to die in the fire except those three brutes.
But Buddy Repperton absolutely had the "Chevy Attitude".
About time a Camaro gets destroyed.
I could be wrong, but when they showed the Camaro after Christine first ran into it, it looked like the engine bay was empty.
@@gregggoss2210I watched it again after reading your comment, and it looked like it was empty to me too.
The car will slide easier with out the motor.
An iconic scene
2:35 The edited scream was on point
Such a good movie must watch it again soon .
What a shame that scenes were deleted Stuart Charno is crushed by the bridge and screams because of it and dies in the explosion, but the most important scene they dared to cut was when Arnie's best friend Denis is betrayed when Denis Kisses Leigh
Agreed. Not really sure why they cut Vandenberg's death as it leaves an abrupt edit in the scene. Sure, we don't really need to see his death, but why put the hatchet to the middle of a filmed scene? Doesn't make any sense to me. Also agree about the Dennis/Leigh scenes at the drive in. Though I swear I've seen that scene in a TV version a hundred years ago. But it makes sense. Why would Arnie go to Darnell's just because somebody scratched "Darnells Tonight" in his paint? No, it's the final showdown. The enemy has been chosen; Denis merely set the location. A Directors cut would be nice.
Stuntman risked his life during the explosion scene, he was wearing a full fire suit equipped w/oxygen tank, but the heat and smoke was so intense he nearly passed out from asphyxiation, dude was a champ and a true professional.
Buddy believed he was such a badass he could outrun a car.
l always thought that 'Camaro-leather jacket guy' looked a lot like Jim Morrison. lol
best end ever ,looks like the "fonze" so double my joy!
Christine must have had some early production halogens.
Let me know if I'm wrong but isn't the guy playing the passenger the same actor who was participating in electro-shock experiments in Ghostbusters?
The only jumpscare i had in this whole film was when Arnie leaped out to wrap his arms around Leigh after falling out of Christine's windshield when she crashed into the office at Darnell's but i Gotta admit 3:23 to 3:59 looked very creepy seeing Christine using a small amount of horse power to roll up to the running Buddy on the road like that while covered in 🔥🔥🔥🔥 with the headlights still on
