Australia commits $100 million in military aid to Ukraine

Australia has supplied Ukraine with 120 Bushmaster vehicles, six 155mm howitzers, 56 M113 armored vehicles, 14 special operations vehicles and its signature cardboard drones.
Standing in the western Ukrainian city of Lviv, Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles announced $100 million in new aid for the conflict-torn Eastern European nation after also visiting Ploand.
“Australia remains committed to supporting Ukraine in resolving the conflict on its terms,” Marles said in his ministry statement, adding that the assistance was a sign of Australia's “unwavering commitment” to Kyiv. The statement said Marles “met with Ukraine's Prime Minister, Denys Shmyhal, and saw firsthand the tragic impact of Russia's unrelenting attacks.”

  • Its a shame Mr Marles doesn't treat Australia defence as quite as seriously spending only a small percentage of GDP on Australia's own defence !!!!!!!! We are a resource rich nation which our enemies would be glad to get their hands on and yet it seems we can't even stop illegal immigrants from hitting our OWN shores unannounced without our OWN navy even knowing about it. Oh yes they claim they are going to spend millions more but it is spread over many years so in actual fact it is a pittance as usual. I'm not against Ukraine getting more support. But Australia and its defence suppliers are going to have to buck up and start supplying Australia with its needs in a timely and costly manner or come a war Australia will be quite useless to even defend itself !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Forget about ANY support if it comes to a time you will need it from us. We have a weak government that panders to China which spends hundreds times MORE on defence than we do. Why is this Labor government is so weak on defence is beyond me ................................
