  • My father (his mens uni team) once played in uni versus a professional football women's team. His team won 21-0. The women were a lot better in skills and tactic and team play, but the men physically overpowered them. Here you would also see how physical football is. Edit: Why is everyone having an argument in the replies lmao Edit 2: Ok you guys can stop commenting I didnt want to start an argument over this match that happened 30 years ago. • It’s only in football where this comparison keeps on being made. We don’t compare women's hockey teams or cricket teams. Physically the best 15 year old male sprinter would make the woman’s 100m Olympic final, but we never say that women's athletics is not as worthwhile or good as men's athletics just because they don’t have the same physical power.

  • WOMEN footballers are good (too answer the video title) but vs MEN it's no competition, we've been through this the only people that deny the physical differences and biology are those extremist feminist who still think men and women are equal (we are not...by far). Does anyone not remember the humiliating Olympics where they put men and women in the same category? The male athletes completely destroyed the female athletes, it wasn't even fair. This is also why we have weight classes in sports like boxing or MMA...even within men we are not all created equal. A light heavy weight and a black belt in Jujutsu is not going to beat a heavy weight who is also as equally skilled, the weight advantage is just too much. Conclusion: Can women play football? Ofc they can, they are also very talented on the ball, the only thing they lack is the physicality and the speed (more power behind the shots) when compared to the mens league. Comparing men and womens football is like comparing apples and oranges, it maybe the same sport but its run on a completely different engine.

    • Women footballers are nowhere near the men, including talentwise (i.e. technicals, awareness, etc.). Why? Because there are roughly 30million males in the UK population for example- out of those roughly 30million would be driven to become pro footballers if they even sniffed the chance. What's the comparison with women? Let's say 1 million are interested in it at a young age? That's not "societal construct", it's a biological gender preference. You go on to teen years and that drops to maybe 50000 girls who would want to go pro? Artificially raising the wages in the women's game would make somewhat of a difference, but even so the ratios of talent pools is incomparably different. The women's England national team, if they had been born boys would struggle to become pros just because of the talent pool differential they would then encounter.

  • IMO: There are many aspects men and women athletes can compare side to side. The difference comes down to the physical aspects, which we see in every video out there comparing men and women sports. This is an important factor that even if you go from semi pro to pro to elite you'll see a good difference. Elite clubs emphasis the physical capabilities: have more gas tank, have a stronger core, and attributes the are key to the role the athlete is playing.

  • moral of the story: If you're technical you'll do well in technique based games if you're physical enough you'll do well in physique based games Football is not an even ratio/spread of technique and physique dependency. You'll need to be more physical than technical but once you reach optimal technique it's impossible to lose it whereas you will lose physicality overtime.

    • They're not entirely exclusive from one another, the loss of physicality obviously impacts technical ability. If you're losing power, stamina and reaction times, then that absolutely affects your technical ability. Everyone loses technical ability over time.

    • @@10848514959 yes but most footballers retire late 30s early 40s and it doesn't mean you would drop off expeditiously during that time. Obviously you would lose some technique along with physicality but observing Gerrard and Lampard very technical players still has their technique but had to sacrifice their advance positions on the pitch due to waning physicality but pretty much still had set piece, passing and long shots abilities

      @oceanmike8516@oceanmike8516 Жыл бұрын
    • @@oceanmike8516 yes, so two thing worth noting. In your original comment, you said that's it's impossible to lose technical ability, which isn't correct. Also, you're saying that set piece, passing and long shots are considered part of a player's technical ability, which is true, but not comprehensive. Other forms of technical ability would have a larger physical component, such ball control, dribbling, ability to shoot off the dribble, etc. So these abilities decline along with physicality - take Cristiano Ronaldo as an example. From his early 30s onwards, he dribbled much less, relying on his finish technique more as his dribbling technique wained. Why was his dribbling technique waining? Reduced agility, speed, and reaction times due to aging.

  • Technically speaking there should be no problem in a mans national team vs womens national team in any country. Stamina speaking however you notice women run much shorter distences during 90 minutes and cover less of the pitch during press which means that man run surcles around them not really because they have better technique or better team play but because their legs are longer and can run 11-15 km per match while that would be an insane feat for a pro woman footballer - again cuz their legs are shorter. May seem irelavant at first but those meters stack.

  • When I played some younger men in a 5 a side game - I found speed to be the number one factor in my failure to play a decent game with them. Their lightning dribbling skills and sheer speed on the ball and chasing the ball meant I just couldn't get near them. I think this would be the biggest factor if women were to play men at football and would basically mean the ladies taking a serious drubbing even by quite low level men's sides.

  • I feel on a technical level of play men and women can remain pretty close to where it comes down to practice/skill. Where things change is the physical side of the game (sprint speed, shot power, aerial height, and strength). For actual gameplay this is the bigger difference where my comparison is taking a MLS(US league) team to play against any major league in Europe.

    @Kyle_Apgar@Kyle_Apgar Жыл бұрын
    • Power and technique adjust with each other controlling a ball at higher power and speed is more difficult than lower power and speed. The skills remain the same but the ability is drastically different in the men's game. Even here he had a 10% higher power and speed about. And he's not a pro. Serena Williams admitted that she can't play men's tennis. She was blown out by a near retired guy outside of the top 200. Again the techniques are the same but the physicality makes it much different

      @reinhardvanastrea9954@reinhardvanastrea9954 Жыл бұрын
    • @@reinhardvanastrea9954 Spot on. And tennis is a great example. When top male player play the drop shot, it lands like half a meter behind the net, when top female player does the same shot, it lands 2 meters behind the net. Technique remains the same, but with better physicality it is much better executed, with less effort. Man and woman will NEVER be even close when it comes to ANY sport. I don't know why it's so hard to understand for some people and why even have this debate. Btw this guy who beat Serena didn't even practice, was after a beer or two, and also beat her sister the same day. And on top of that, as he said himself - was playing on a 50% because he didn't want to embarass them. That's the difference lmao
