    • @@ZovcDrafts Yeah, I have seen that before, good eye. Its also a variation of a sweep we do in Yin Style Baguazhang. The lead arm curves up & out for the engagement, similar to the way fighters from Team Jackson do the throw

  • Idk if anyone else felt this, but I feel like my sweeps got better after training more judo. I got a much better understanding of bodily momentum and balance that way, and it became a lot clearer on how I can exploit it.

      @luziox7197@luziox7197 Жыл бұрын
    • @@luziox7197 well, yeah. They are. But the physics behind it is exactly the same, of course. It's just that in Judo, throws and sweeps are the name of the game, while it's just one aspect of Muay Thai. So in my opinion, if you want to get better at any one aspect of Muay Thai, go find someone who practices a martial art which focuses heavily on that one thing. For learning sweeps and throws, I don't think anything is better than Judo.

    • judo is very similar to some of Muay Thai's clinch sweeps!

      @MMAShredded@MMAShredded Жыл бұрын
    • @@luziox7197 the grips are different, in Judo you have more control but in MT you have the surprise factor and a higher stance. Specially the stance is what makes it easier in MT even compared to MMA.

  • Jeff , great compilation of sweeps and looking forward to the sweep tutorial👏. It's not as exciting, but sweep defense worked into that would be helpful....I noticed very few of the sweeps were Thais, and I think their emphasis on kicks/ kick defense is one reason why.... fighters here in the west are often heavy on the front foot/ punchers and don't give attention to their tactics when their leg is caught ... also when engaging in the clinch, establishing your balance is the first thing to do , after protecting your head from interior strikes, to avoid being dumped quickly. Something about sweep compilation videos makes me smile 😃

  • Excellent content as always Jeff. It might seem basic, but I still struggle with instinctively incorporating sweeps after I catch a round kick or trap a teep. I have this moment of "Wow. I got it!" and in the split second of trying to pull of a sweep, my opponent has either escaped or started punching me in the face! Any drills to make these techniques a little more "natural" or automatic would be awesome. I also have difficulty dumping from the clinch. I can defend ok, but I get lost when I try to exploit my partner's off balance positions. It feels like I'm working harder than I need to be. Thanks!

  • How about how to fall safely if you're getting swept hard. To this day the hardest hit I've ever taken sparring was getting swept and landing on my back such that my own knee came down and hit me hard on the cheekbone.

  • The training partners you're dumping should try to remember to work on their slap-falls! LOL, everyone's got a theory. Maybe outside of sparring and try to remember when the o shit moment happens.
