  • Its why they need smaller cages. Way too big makes it easy to run around all day. Same thing a lot of guys do when they fight rodtang. I think goncalves won technically on points, but he did it such a weak way that he didn't deserve to get the win. So I'm happy rodtang got the win.

  • Goncalves fought really well but you cannot purposely go to the ground everytime your leg gets caught. It's fine in MMA but it ain't fair in Muay Thai.

    • @@praetosstuff8230 It's more than just that. Hitting the opponent on the ground is not allowed in Muay Thai as far as I know and Goncalves was basically exploiting this rule. Goncalves could care less about his leg getting caught and just throw it without repercussion, cuz he get to avoid getting mauled by slipping down and it would have been foul if Rodtang hit him with like a knee while slipping down. The referee should have given him a warning or so, but at least the judges did right by Rodtang.

  • The referee doesn't know all the rules of pure Muay Thai and the very tough & smart Brazilian is using all the tricks and evasive tactics the unpolished referee was allowing him to do: sticking glued to Rodtang, even when the clinch is stopped & a separation is called for... picking up Rodtang and throwing him on the mat (that's MMA rule, not Muay Thai, which goes only as far as clinching and then the two fighters are separated, if they can't effectively hurt the other via knees or elbow, etc.) That's why the Muay Thai veteran was so frustrated; that's why he stood back a few times and asked the referee to tell the Brazilian to "stand there and fight like a man"! Reminiscence of the Leon Edwards and Cowboy Cerone fight, where agile & much younger Leon was using hit and run tactics, with the slower veteran being so frustrated, he, with blood pouring from his head, repeatedly pointed to the middle of the octagon and told Leon to man up, stand there, and exchange toe to toe!

  • Goncalves got robbed. Speed, Rodtang couldn’t get him. Rodtang couldn’t open his jaw like before. Or he will be knockout cold. It’s obvious he’s the favorite. Goncalves show the sweet science of Muay Thai. I’ll be a fan of him from now on.

  • Goncalves outlanded Rodtang with precised accurate clean shots but this match should’ve still been a DRAW! Goncalves didn’t even get points deducted as he should’ve because in this fight he deliberately took dives to the ground to avoid exchanges with Rodtang, he even shot for double legs and he also suplexed Rodtang numerous times as it is illegal - still don’t understand why no point was deducted.

  • Goncalves mix in this fight muaythai + mma ( kickboxing/karate strategy) that's why rodtang got mad 'cause this mma game breaks the short range rhythm of a classic tough muaythai fighter (it's a smarter strategy to both protect yourself and counter attack) it's all about step back/ skip from the attack defensiveness then counter attack another guy who did the same in this competition once against a muaythai guy as well was momotaro from japan

  • Goncalves looked to win the fight on points, but the judges seen that the style of fighting was not full Muay Thai rules, Rodtang ever the master here and was straight up old school Muay Thai stand up fighting. Goncalves idea was right to face Rodtang, as he know he didn't have the power to hurt him, but did it in bad taste I feel. I would say, two ways to beat Rodtang, out power him, yet to be found. And we now 2023. Or Hit and run, but with better style and maybe a more aggressive hit and run. Either way, we still yet to really see Rodtang get dominated. Good fight either way. Also is funny to see Rodtang get stressed out with the fighter. Its a good aggressive tactic. Also with the punching himself and face expressions. All time best fighter hands down. Haggerty is also close in my book 😉

  • Their bodies are trained to take insane hit like that. If one of them were to fight a guy with little to no training. They could probably die if one of these guys were to fight full force like that. But right off the bat they know already who they're up against
