I’m always looking for video ideas! On what subject would you like to see an upcoming video?
Have you ever used image stacking in Astrophotography? It's something I'd like to get into, but looks quite complicated.
@@dkcrogueyup. Noted
I enjoy your Lightroom videos. Would like to know what equipment (computers,monitor..) you edit on and why you chose that equipment.
As for color temp and exposure, you might look at using the neutral white/gray cards.
How about a video on finding inspiration in photography? The algorithm randomly showed me your channel a few weeks ago, so I've been inspired to knock the dust off my DSLR. Only problem is I have no idea where to start.
I just want to say how much I appreciate your videos. When I looked up other tutorials I got confused and overwhelmed, but you have this amazing skill to explain everything to the point very simply. Not to mention how enthusiastic you are about teaching others. It inspires beginners like me.Thank you Simon❤
Glad I could help!
100% agree!!!
The man is a gifted instructor for sure.
He is really a great teacher.
So very well said.
Simon is like that one cool uncle we all wish we had
True his amazing.
This tutorial should be mandatory for every new photographer. I wish I had this years ago when I was first starting out. Simon, you are an incredible teacher. You have the ability to break things down to where the concepts are completely understandable. Plus, you give us the visual examples as well. I can't thank you enough. The next time someone comes to me with questions, I'll be sharing this tutorial. After all these years, I'm still learning something new. Thank you!
Welcome, and Thanks very much!
Thanks Simon, there's nothing like a good refresher especially when given in such a clear, well thought out and unbiased way. I always find your videos helpful and encouraging.
Glad you enjoyed it
Agreed. Big help for me.
I purchased my first DSLR last week, which like so many things these days did not come with a manual, nor am I particularly comfortable in reading long PDFs on screens. This video was posted at just the right time for me, and I've already learnt so much. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge, I know I'll be coming back for more.
I'm new with a DSLR camera, and this is the best explanation I've watched here on KZhead. I appreciate and love this video. Now, I understand each and every setting on my camera. Thank you so much.
You're such a great teacher, thank you for all these videos
You're very welcome!
The multiple focus points was a new one for me! Tells me what I've been doing wrong with flight shots, where I had it set for single point.
Simon you do not exaggerate with your title claim. This could very well be the most concise, yet clearest overview of the photographic process I’ve come across. You have an excellent presentation style! Thanks for your contribution to we learners.
Thanks for that
I am not a new photographer, but found this to be one of the most accurate and practical videos for those starting out. It is also a great refresher for all photographers especially those who haven't picked up a camera in a little while. Great job; thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
The best or in the top 2 presentations I've ever seen. Very clear, concise points made without a lot of extra chatter. Get's straight to the point and he shares visual images that goes along with the information he'd just noted. For instance, if he is talking about shutter speed, he will post an image showing an actual scale or what it looks like. This is a great point of reference and makes it easy to find on the camera.
I just got into photography and I do have to say I barely understood manual mode and now it all makes sense, tysm. great video!! ❤
I'm not exactly new to photography but I find your videos interesting to watch. I've been watching for a little while and it makes me happy when you talk about something I already knew how to do, because then I know I'm doing things right! Of course, I also learn some new things from your videos! I still find it interesting to watch this video even if it's stuff I will know. Thanks for the great videos!
Awesome, thank you!
I love your content. Even as a photographer with a year of experience, I always learn something new from you. Great job! 👏🏾
Awesome, thank you!
So good Simon, another brilliant and informative video for a newbie like me still at the beginner stage. The precise delivery of your expert knowledge is so well articulated it makes it extremely easy to grasp and understand. So grateful for your regular content.
Fantastic!
Thank you for the deep dives into various aspects of photography. I’m sure you have many seasoned folks who benefit from these, but for the neophyte, they are invaluable.
These are fantastic videos, Simon. I’ve been hooked since I came across your channel. You explain things in a very clear and concise manner and have really sparked the passion for photography in me. Many thanks 👍
Welcome!
This was very well timed, I just bought my very first DSLR after a decade of agonizing over wanting one. I took a photography class in college, and couldn't remember all of the ins and outs of photography when I was trying to go on my first photoshoot... but this is infinitely helpful, this video summed up that whole course! I'm very excited to try again this weekend, thank you!!!
I want to thank you for your amazing tutorials, it helped me a lot as a beginner hobbyist photographer. Thanks.
I just love your voice... It makes me believe in what ever you say.
I am 51 yrs old and hv been taking pics since I was in school having gone through Polaroids, 110 film , 35mm SLR and DSLR's. What took me so many years to learn, you hv summed up here so well. Kudos to you, loving yr channel.
This video is the art and science of photography in a nutshell. Comprehensive and complete.
I’ve learned all of these things over the years by trial and error as an amateur bird photographer. But for beginners this is an extremely useful video. I wish that I’d watched something like this from Simon when I started out.
truly my favorite youtube explainer. THANK YOU❤
This is the best video explaining the exposure triangle I have found, I fully understand the concept now. Thank you!
You’ve quickly become my favorite photography channel. I’m a newcomer to digital cameras and I’ve learned so much from you in the last few weeks! Thanks for the information AND the inspiration!
Welcome aboard!
Yes, I relate to this so much , thank you for sharing . For me , I don't have the pressure of creating content so I just try to enjoy my time , but most of the time I have no picture that I like enough to share with other people
Hi Simon, beautiful video that explains in depth all the main notions to be able to start taking shots differently from automatic, being able to choose each setting and start shooting in the true sense! Thanks again and I'm waiting for the next video 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Thank you soooo much . I have been looking for a comprehensive needs to know. This came in really handy ❤ you are a good teacher.
You are so welcome!
It's increíble how this man can explain things so simple and clear, and in such a short time. Thank you very much Simón, these are invaluable.
Glad you think so!
Always look forward to these videos! Thank you!
Glad you like them!
I love your videos, and frequently have to go back and rewatch them.
Huge thank you! This is GOLD. So appreciated
Glad it was helpful!
Your channel is the most helpful I have come across for taking the next steps with photography. I have mostly used auto but this year I want to learn to use some of the other settings. I understand the basic concepts but it was a bit overwhelming learning the settings when I just wanted a pic before the bird flew away.
one of the best videos i have ever watched thank you im buying camera next week hope ill be able to enhance my hobby with your tips
I'm a professional photographer and I still benefitted from this video. Thank you
No matter how much I think I know, you always give me something I don't know or reaffirm what I know.
These tips are for even people who already have a DSLR! Keep one up to date and sharp! Thanks once again Simon!
This is a video I can return to as I begin to use all the modes. Thank you so much for the detailed and clear information!
Glad it was helpful!
You are a consummate professional with the heart of a teacher. Thank you!
Thanks very much!
Absolutely Amazing ❤
Great tutorial as always! Your videos are invaluable to the aspiring photographers out there!
Thanks again for another great video! Im still getting my head around the three settings for good shots but im learning all the time thanks to you Simon
You can do it!
Simon, please take this comment in the positive light it is given. I am older than you and often do not shave daily. I always make sure I shave when I am to be at an important event and especially when I will be in a video or in photos. If I do not do that I look like and old bum and I distract from the purpose of the video as others stare at my scruffy unkempt look. Great videos and you are looking sharp today! 👍🏻
Noted!
Thank you for making this amazing video 🙌🏾
ISO means International Standards Organisation, before which it was ASA (American Standards Association), before which there was Weston, DIN ( Deutsches Institut fur Normug) and Scheiner.---Love your vids. (Bob-Liverpool UK).
Actually, it’s International Organisation for Standards (IOS), and since in various languages it would mess up the order of the letters, they adopted iso as a word, taken from isos, greek for equal.
@@simon_dentremont Well spotted.
Shutter priority is only tv on Canon I think, Nikon and Sony it’s S for shutter priority and A for apature
I just got my R7 and 100-500. Waiting for the battery to charge. Upgraded from 2000D and kit lenses. Cant wait!
Hope you did your didn't skip arm day
A real master. I really appreciate your efforts to make me understand the most basic things in photography. Hats off to you.
My pleasure
what a stellar tutorial. thanks 🙏
This is one of the best video i've ever seen 😍
Excellent video! I already watched some videos on the basics, but just wanted to double check. Also, including the suggestions when to use fast shutter speeds and countinous AF is a very nice touch.
THANKS for this video. Much respect.
Sending this link to a friend of mine who is starting out in photography. As titled, it covers the basics! Lots of info here, so he will need to start, stop and rewind a good bit.
This guy is really good at teaching!
Thanx again for a great video! Everything to the point. Love it! You have just gained a new subscriber. Just purchased another bridge camera for my couch birding photography. So excited. Thank you again
This so helpful; even to those of us who've been taking photos for quite some time. Thank you Simon
Glad it was helpful!
Hi Simon, thank you for putting this video out. I help the occasional beginner and a video like this helps cover the basics of photography very quickly with visual demonstrations. It means I can concentrate my time on other areas which will help them grow.
Great to hear!
Love your videos and your motivation toward beginners, nice work!
Happy to hear that!
Perfect video! I will share it with our “old folks photo group” and I certainly would need to watch it every time I go out with my camera.👍 Battery … 🙄 Having a spare one in the pocket is not a stupid idea. Biked in freezing cold to the lake shore to catch some Northern lights and the camera went ❌ and the spare one was 15 cold minutes away AT HOME.
This is great thank you. I've often wondered about which shutter speed for various shoots and this was explained in the vid. I'm just venturing into Manual and RAW. Thanks for all your help! Best regards from the UK
Such great information! thank you for your videos.
Impressive Mr. Simon. Thank you so much.
This video was so helpful thank u Simon
Well explained Simon!
Perfect video as I’m just unboxing my first “real” camera and was a little overwhelmed with everything to try and learn. You always do such a great job of bringing it to an understandable level-thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
You have the absolute best photography tutorial videos on KZhead. In case you didn't know lol. 😊 Thank you for being so detailed and informative
You are so welcome!

Your videos are the best for learning I’ve watched in many years. Thank you!
Wow, thank you!
I appreciate you for this video!
I have been shooting for about 3 year and still learned something!
Thanks for the nod to Pentax in the section on autofocus-continuous! Now I feel legitimate 🙂
Sir i thank you for such a clear spoken video with no rubbish bed music to get in the way of my Tinnitus. The amount of controls on these dslr can be overwhelming to the beginner but with this video it all becomes clear ( well most of it ) . So to all beginners you must watch this video first.
Glad it was helpful!
I seen so many tutorials on Photography. You are the best.Handsdown.
Wow, thank you!
Thanks a lot ❤!!
You are so kind
@@simon_dentremont My pleasure 😇 ❤️ from 🇮🇳
The way you explain this I feel like I’m inside the camera 😊right now. Thanks appreciate the work.
You’re welcome 😊
Didn’t get a new camera, but I did get the Sigma 150-600 C for my canon t7 on Black Friday. It’ll arrive Wednesday and then I’ll really be able to step up my wildlife photography game.
You having grown up in the film world, the usefulness of ISO in digital eluded me for over 20 years. And this video made it click for me, albeit somewhat passively. I never considered the usefulness of setting my preferred DOF and blur (shutter speed) and adjusting exposure via ISO. This seems like a great tool for street work in particular. Esp. along with Zone focusing.
Excellent video Simon! 80% photo knowladge in 15 minutes, amazing! ;)
Wow this video is a gem, thank you so much. You are awesome!
Glad you enjoyed it!
excellent video and information, thanks for the Pentax mention !! We are out there and feel the love!! hahaha Merry Clickmas, and a very Snappy New Year!! May all your Shots be sharp and bright!
Happy holidays!
This man is another national treasure.
Thank you very much !
I am new to photography and watched tons of videos. Yours are the most informative and pracrical 🤟 thank you!
Awesome, thank you!
Thanks for a great year of learning. I watch and rewatch your stuff all the time. I feel like I figured out my voice in photography by mastering the mechanics with your video, so thanks for that. I'm still not going on a safari, though. I'm a street shooter in Chicago and am afraid of no man, but the idea of a wild boar coming at me is too just too much.
The hippos are worse…lol
May I suggest that you can make a video about social media content making like KZhead videos tips. Because you are so good at thids! Anybody can understand your videos. Please tell us the psychology and sociology behind your content creation ❤
