And people who were shown barely any affection growing up tends to find it overwhelming when they receive it as adults (I know because this is what I've been working on through therapy myself).

    • 100% - I don't think the general online population understands what a generational trauma the AIDS epidemic backlash inflicted on people our age. We weren't really old enough to be in ACT-UP or that sort of thing, but we're a little older than the general online population - we're maybe 5-15 years older than Katya, after all. Gay representation was basically only tragedy, bisexuals were always villains, and trans people didn't exist at all in the media. On the plus side, after taking a dive into the Heartstopper fandom, I gotta say, I think the kids are OK. I understand why these two might be a bit jaded, but for some of us Heartstopper is self-care. Then again, so are drag queens.

  • 22:43 Katya is so genuine when she talks about their romance being age appropriate here that you can sorta see some anger in her face, and I get the feeling it comes from the fact that much of what we see nowadays in teenage coming-of-age movies and series is overwhelmingly sexual and they end up missing the point. A lot of us didn’t get to experience this kind of romance when we were teenagers because being gay was so taboo and when we turned to entertainment they would only show steeyotypical caracters who only represented a small chunck of our community. A lot of us didn’t believe we could have this type of romance in our lives. I think that’s one of the main reasons this show was so successful. It shows pure, innocent romance between two young men without neglecting the hardships that queer people have to go through for not being heteronormative. Truly, this plot and storytelling were incredibly well done and I think we can all tell from the way these two were reacting to the show. ♥️

    • A quick note because you say you are a non-native English speaker: It says "blonde women in succession". "Women" (with an "e") refers to both Trixie and Katya (woman with an "a" is the singular), "in succession" means one after the other. So Trixie says "Now" and then Katya immediately says "Now" afterwards, the short way to note this is to write "in succession" in the subtitles. I saw another comment thinking this is referring to the TV show Succession, so I hope this helps clarify! :)

I finally realised I'm bi when I was 19 after mulling it over in my head on and off for roughly two years. And the number of times I googled "bisexuality" is wild. Nick was much more straight forward with that then I was. Especially since I wasn't actually attracted to anyone until I was 17. Being bi can be so confusing. I'm certain that I am not the only one who struggles with gatekeeping themselves. There are times I think I'm fooling myself and that I'm actually straight and then there are times when I think I'm fooling myself and that I'm actually a lesbian. So yeah the googleing is very authentic. Especially for a bi, pan, or omni person.

    • @@Diegotheparrot Omni- and pansexuality lie on the same spectrum as bisexuality. Bi means attraction to 2 or more genders (can be all of them but doesn't have to). Pan means attraction regardless of gender so gender plays no role in attraction at all. Omni means attraction to all genders but gender does play a role in that attraction (like a gender preference or the attraction may feel different depending on gender). I hope that helped.

    • I think in the show it (can) looks like he googles WHAT bisexuality is (especially when you just watch it briefly like for this reaction) and that was her main issue. Not "Am I bisexual" but "WHAT IS bisexuality" . And he is like 17 in the show (right?) and you KNOW what it is at that point, maybe not if you are it. I think that's her main complaint :D

    • Im between gen z and millenial, still millennial. I didn't do "Am I gay?" quiz cause quiz like that wasn't really a thing back then. Even more so, I live in third world country where internet trend is a bit behind. I DID google stuff like "what is homosexual" to better understand myself 😂 but yes, I've heard that am i gay quiz was a thing for the generation after me 🔥

    • Kids just want some type of confirmation I won't be surprised even if they still take those quizes even now. Cause the default since the moment you are born is straight and once you realise you aren't feeling the same as the people around you then you gonna have to want some type of confirmation without fear of judgement and you have Google for that
