  • Can you recommend any books or videos for people who’d like to learn wood carving? My grandfather used to make woodcarvings but he died when I was young so I never learned. I’d love to be able to do something like this, and carry on that talent if I could.

  • what are some good woods that don;t break the bank that would be a good choice for beginners to learn carving?

    • It depends on the region. In Europe, linden (basswood) is well suited for carving. Linden is not an exotic, rare or expensive wood, so I see no reason for a beginner to try another wood.
