multiple big muskie while sight fishing on lake mille lacs for Minnesota musky opener 2023. We spent the day in super shallow water searching for musky to cast at with giant lures in hopes of getting a monster, and after a few casts we got a giant. Minnesota musky opener 2023 was an absolute blast, musky fishing lake mille lacs 2023 has started off strong. thanks for watching this Minnesota musky fishing video.

I’d love to feedback on this… 1. I bought a bigger net for future videos. 2. I did not snag the fish intentionally, it tried to eat my lure a minute prior as I was moving it and then I cast at it again and bounced it near the fish and it turned at ate it in between bounces, both me and me friend in the boat saw it turn and hit the lure, I then set the hook and it pulled the lure into its face, it tried to eat it and either missed and it hits its face or it swiped at it with its face instead. Nonetheless it tried to eat it and I would never purposely try to snag a fish.
When fish head hunt baits they can get hooked in the head. it happens, if you know she chewed it its still a catch IMO. A fish may eat and get hooked in the mouth and through out the fight it can catch the other hook in the eye/gills/head. Its easy for the fish to leverage one hook out when the fish is hooked by multiple hooks.
Sometimes you'll get foul hooks don't beat yourself up over it! A fish like that can live with an eye hook. Those gill hooks are the killer. Awesome video.
Some nice fish, really cool seeing them in the clear water.
It sure is
Yeah got my pb bass from clear water yesterday
DDants good job
@@NASPELTZ thanks
Love muskies , glad to see this!
Muskies are a favorite fish for me, glad you love them as well
Those are some sick fish, man! I've never been musky fishing because there's not many good lakes for that here, but it's definitely something I want to give a shot at sometime. Keep up the good work!
Give it a try I’m sure you will love it
@@NASPELTZ just went out on my own a week ago and caught a musky on a jackhammer after I got tired of throwing giant glides. the only other time ive caught musky was on a guide
Those Muskies were reel impressive but that Smallmouth was really a beasty boy!!😎🎣
That smallie was a beaut haha thanks Wes
Congrats 🎊
way to go guys!!! i like how you were able to adapt.
Hey thanks man
Nice fish!!
Ive gone Musky Fishing before and nothing's better than seeing 'em hit at the side of the boat. Good looking fish, keep up the great content.
Your the best, thanks so much
First to enjoy the savag muskie takes!
Let’s gooo
Just watched the video ! Drone shot would have been amazing with that clear water ! Great fishing
I just went back to the lake this week, new video drops tmr with drone footage
Nice video once again and ofcourse nice catches to!👍
Your the man slimy
Incredible catch
Thanks cam
I love watching your vids and I have been trying to catch my first Muskie for years
Where are you located
Glad bothbyou guys got one. But you're absolutely right, top water is my fav way to catch fish. My biggest Muskie i even caught was on a buzzbait when, i was fishing a pocket just off rapids right before sundown. Weird spot and time for a huge muskie but it will be one I never forget
Thanks for watching, it sure was one to remember
@@NASPELTZ yeah it was 51&3/4 so pretty nice
Awesome
Love the sportsmanship and the respect
Great video man. You've been killing it lately
Thanks so much
@@NASPELTZ for sure bro
Best fishing KZheadr out there
No way, I’m no where near any of the pros, I just enjoy making the videos
@@NASPELTZ and that’s why your the best
Love the content nice day for fishing as well
Thanks Robert
Wow! I'm definitely sending this to my dad 😂 he also guess fishing! She's going to be soo jealous 😂😂😂anyone here from tik tok??🎉
Muskies do like to just swipe at lures. It's funny how different they can be than pike. Last musky I caught swiped at my topwater lure 3 times and then finally got the rear treble hook. Pike usually just swallow the whole thing and then take 15 minutes to get all the trebles out of their mouths.
Fireee
Thanks zuggy
You my sir just gained a subscriber!
bro your casts are so smooth i just like watching them 🙈 but the video quality goes crazy bro
Thanks so much bro
Sounds like you had some fun
We sure did
I’m trying to learn and u help me so much
That’s awesome
Awesome fish went to lake manitoba and caught my biggest walleye it was 29 inches and 10 pounds
That’s amazing
I saw you fishing up there for opener, nice to see you had good luck.
Ya it was a blast
I'm not big on fishing gin clear lakes or sections of lakes because if you can see the fish from 50 yards away they can see you. Not to say I haven't caught quite a few in clear water but it tends to be in the deeper water 20 feet and more that I catch them. Nice job in the skinny water. Edit: Early season, early morning and right around sunset they tend to be shallower.
Can't wait for them to catch a fully grown great white shark!
Beautiful vídeo, I see you from Spain, I am a predator fisherman in freshwater, large mouth bass, pike and walleye and I really enjoy your videos, thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching
Straight up snagged it 😂
love watching ur videos bro I live in the similar area as you what lake was this bro I have always wanted to catch a musky like that. Great video btw
It’s on Mille lacs
I’m in PA it seems like Muskie and pike are common up north have family in Minnesota used to spend a lot of younger years there that being said Muskie are supposedly in abundance here in PA where I’m at I guess it really it the fish of 1000 casts
Sweet
Thanks
Always a great day when you upload also what lures do you recommend for muskie
I like big glide baits and swimbaits, a lot of guys use big spinners and they seem to work as well.
You have some beautiful spotted Muskies in your lake
Thanks Carl, there sure are some beauties
When you bring you’re lure to you’re boat do some figure 8’s with your lure in the water (only works with Muskie) for some odd reason when I’ve done a little research and heard some tales from buddies a lot of the Muskie they caught was in the 8 motion i don’t know why but Muskie love hitting it when there’s a figure 8 motion.
Figure 8s are a great thing brother
Fr, I gotta work on that. I just think if the water is so clear and I don’t see a fish following that there isn’t one, but they can be under the boat or just out of sight and waiting.
Another bad ass video I relly need a boat😅
Boat is the best thing I ever bought, I’m sure I will start to wish I didn’t as soon as things start braking and I become broke
@NASPELTZ well your videos have helped me with my recovery I used to have a boat but I've had medical issues and had to get rid of it I'm now an amputee so watching your videos have really helped me through those times so thanks for the great content ice fishing and all
This means so much, I’m glad I helped you through it, where did you say your from again? I’d love to invite you on my boat and we can do some trolling or anything that fits your needs
yoo wsg fellow minnesotan
Yo yo
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPENS TO ME but the fish don't bite btw u are one of the best fishing youtubers if not the best, better than lojo or norm you don't waste time and get straight to the fishing, the other guys talk for 7 minutes catch 1 bass and that's the vedio, but you out here catching quality this is Jon bingus quality right here
Your the best, this means so much, I was a little surprised the big fish ate it, I saw about 10 fish prior to this that didn’t care for any of my lures, this one I think got a little pissed off by all the times I cast at him and ate it.
@GCtwoTHREE the Muskie I caught in this video ate the glide. Just didn’t stick in the mouth. It happens a lot when they shake and it pulls it into a different part of the face. He hit it and one of the trebles went into the eye
Was is hooked in the actual eyeball?🤔
No no, eye lid, not eye ball sorry.
Hey just found the channel and videos are epic, so many cool different types of fishing up there. Also what camera do you use for your intros.
I have a Sony a74 I use for intros, and thanks so much glad you enjoy it
Figure 8’s guys, figure 8’s!
I remember my first time fishing I got a yellow perch and it was beautiful. Wish I can fish again. And I used a bobber to help me now if it was a fish. And it has spikes on its fins (of course) and I touched it and I got a little bleed on my finger but healed in a day. But that was the best time of my life. Casting was great. 😅 love fishing, I’m a younger fisher but the first time I caught a fish. Man it was the best. (I’m subbed btw could you replay to my comment maybe?)
Wait you make musky videos too! Awesome. I’m new to this channel. Just saw the playground vids and saw you catching pike while I was waiting for musky to open. Good luck cheers!!
I’ve been waiting for musky to open for a while as well, yes I do a lot of musky fishing, can’t say as much musky catching but I try.
Ive caught musky on a wacky worm during a bass tournament before with 12lb line was 27ins long, and put up a huge fight
Awsome catch it happens I would still count it As a catch
If you don’t watch NASPELTZ what are you even doing😂😂😂😂
Your the man ❤️
@@NASPELTZI told you I would watch and like ❤❤
This year was the first year in the last 15 years I didn't get out muskie fishing
Need a bigger net for musky
I said in the video we went to this lake to fish smallmouth bass only and ended up fishing for musky after we started to see some, didn’t bring the musky net I have because it wasent the plan. Next time I will
You watched this video on mute didn’t you? 😂
Haha
I’m going out for Muskie soon and I was wondering if 60 pound flourcarbon from seager would work as a leder
What rod is that? Want to start musky fishing and need a rod.
I have a cabin on Mille Lacs. I fish opening weekend. The lake is stacked with boats - serious competition out there. I didn’t see another boat this entire video. The skis are obviously spawning. Set up with bass gear. So, when exactly was this video made?
I've only gone musky fishing one and it was in a lake with trout as well. A trout ate my lure then a massive 40"+ musky bit the trout then let go cuz the water was clear and it got spooked 😭
What lb line were you using with the small swimbait
Do Muskie tails get messed up like bass tails when they spawn? That first Muskie’s tail was cooked lol
good video
Thanks so much
Very nice. I’m in western Wisconsin, myself, we’re basically fishing neighbors. 😆
Haha true
What rod do you use
Can you please make longer videos 😅😀😀
Whats the rod/reel/line combo? And I have that same net lol
Beautifil conditions. What's your muskie setup?
I have a slx medium heavy and a st. Croix mojo bass heavy rod with a 13 fishing reel and a lews speed spool. Those are my main two
That's on my bucket list. Live 1:30 from cave run lake
That’s awesome
"That's The BIGGEST One You Got?" (Talking About The NET) 😄😎👍
I now have full musky gear, including net, rods, pliers, and hook cutters. I learned from my mistakes as a guy getting into musky fishing and no longer go out without the proper gear
Bro wasn’t talking about nets for a second..😂💀
😂😂😂
2:53 this is why you always figure 8 haha
Yep
do you have any recommendations for baitcasting rods for big muskie or big pike under 150$?
Mojo bass heavy
Hey don’t sweat it dude! It was out of your control where you hook the fish. Nature is not as caring and forgiving as you are with the fish. You caught a great fish!!😃
I feel bad for that one that got caught in the eye 👁️
Me too, me too. Luckily it was the eye lid and not eye, if it was the eye it would probably have come off on the jump, but the eye lid is a lot stronger
saw tons in shallow water too
Awesome, did you get any?
what camera do you have? not your headmount but the one you filmed your into on?
Sony a74
Bro you are doing fantastic and the fish you got that you said didn’t count it counted bro nobody cares if it’s in the eye, the can’t take that you got a giant
Hey thanks so much man means a lot. I talked with a few guides in the area and got their opinion on the catch. They were curious why I would even say it’s not a catch. Musky swipe at it and miss it a lot. It happens, sucks it was in the eye but the fish swam off and lives to see another day
I just came across you man and your the best I also watch a guy name Ace Videos 2 and you guys both are excellent fisherman if you could tell me what is a good bait for catfish I would love it thanks
Hey man. Thanks so much, I don’t usually fish for catfish but I have caught them on crank baits a lot fishing for smallmouth and walleye. But I know a lot of guys who love cut up bluegill or chicken
3:15 bro was playing animal crossing lmao
Haha
I gotta get on some Muskie
Yesss
Yo i how do u cast so far? I have a rod with the spinning reel out (spinner rod I think) how do I cast far?
A few things but cast timing and the fact he's on a baitcaster help tremendously
What lake is this
Nice fish, but that net is WAY too small for Muskies, both opening and bag depth. A net too small causes additional abrasion on the skin and fin fraying. Keep chasing fish, but always use the proper equipment for Muskies to keep the stress down and physical damage to the fish at a minimum.
I completely understand, I have a musky net in my boat now.
If you don’t want to count it, you don’t have to, but I absolutely would. As long as the fish tried to eat it, it counts as a catch. That means the lure worked and got the fish’s attention. However, like I said, it is up to you whether you want to count it or not.
nazpelt the goat
Your the best Evan
Where is this
How do u purposely fell hool a fish? Trying to learn the oposite 😅
If you see a fish near your bait, make it look scared. Makes the fish more likely to bite.
My Cabin is in Garrison Minnesota right next to Mille Lacs
That’s awesome
im not gonna call this a catch but what a catch
Thanks
What lake is this, I live in Minnesota
i am going there😅
What GoPro mount do you use for your hat?
It’s not a mount I made it myself. I screwed it in
@@NASPELTZ Cool thanks for the info
Is there a size limit on those traffic cones?
Hopefully not
How do you go musky fishing with a bass net lol
What reel did u use in the video?
13 Fishing inception, they are $100
What kind of rood are you using
Mojo bass and a slx
We’re is that lake
Where was this?
Why should we wet are hands before we touch the fish just curious
Not to take slime off the fish
@@NASPELTZ ohhh ok thank you
Need to do a figure 8 they will eat it
Will do
I remember when he found a dead dog
Lmao that was a long time ago
What is the lake called?😂😂
