Mel versus the Diabetic Japanese Pagoda gets me every time. It's just the way her little face crumples up as she reads the second envelope and she realises the magnitude of the task she's set herself. She was a BASTION of positivity and good cheer throughout the series, but her little "ohhh, gang..." was the nearest I've seen her come to despair.
The way she says ohhh gang makes me think that she thought she wasn’t going to come out that room alive
'Eat your sandwich' is by far the best surprise task, because you can see the horror on everyone's face when they realize they've got to eat the monstrosities they've just made (or, in Noel's case, Alex)

You need a MISSING THE MARK compilation. Where contestants read the task and forgot it immediately. Mawan with the hoola hoop moving in series 10. Lolly moving the water bowls, Aisling cutting the bread in the caravan, and others i cant remember off the top of my head.

Pretty much everything Mel does in the series gives off Big "six year old girl who made a wish on a magic fortune telling machine to become a grown-up" Energy.
I think Mel was possibly my favourite contestant of all time on this show. She’s just so relentlessly positive and upbeat all the time, no matter what they throw at her. “Oh, gang...”

I agree, Mel is def one of my favorite contestants. HOWEVER, Judi Love really shocked me. She was consistently hilarious throughout the series.
I thought it was just me! She's my absolute fav, a little ball of sunshine. She may not have the smartest approach but I love her positivity. What a delight to watch.

It never ceases to amaze me how the creativity in this show has never declined once, despite the fact that 10 seasons/series have been made. And the fact that said creativity is used not only to create the tasks, but to completely fuck with the contestants as well, is even better. Absolute magnum opus of television.
also for the contestants to mess with ALex by finding work arounds. I think one season he was very specific in the wording of each task so there were less work arounds.
The creativity hasn't declined once? Do you not remember "throw something into a bin?" That was this show's nadir.

As Cherie said, that's in another video and it also doesn't fit the theme of this collection, which is about Alex, or a task fooling the contestants, not the other way around. That was some great thinking by Rhod though.
My thought was to hide in a locked room so Alex couldn’t get to me to untie me, but Rhod’s was pure genius. That & the video game recreation are my fave Rhod moments!
@@klaythoring1326 I was going to say that that relies on a door being lockable but you could sit in front of it, as they aren't going to break it down. Nice solution. Rhod had a lot of great moments but that's why people kept asking for him to be on the show. :-)

Cooking: the act of preparing food for eating (especially by heating) Technically, she did cook something. She prepared something for eating. That is the definition of cooking.

Alex barely able to croak out "an M&M" while trying not to laugh is one of my absolute favorite things.

In earlier series, there were task that had the contestants prepare food for Alex to taste, and they made him eat some terrible stuff. The sandwich task was a glorious reversal.

I just realized. If you tied your hands... then went for a jog, and started evading when Alex was to untie you... it would take him a long time to untie you!
I thought that's what James was trying to do at 11:10, but it wouldn't have worked because he had his legs tied up.
What was better was what Rhod did. He tied Alex up in the chair. So when the bell sounded he strolled over to put on the jumpsuit. Once Alex was secure, he tied his own hands. Alec couldn’t get out of the chair. So he won 2 tasks at once. Rhod could think rings around the design team in season 1. They were much better at designing and limiting tasks after that.
Tying Alex up, being in a room blocking the door, or even laying down to ensure he can't get to the knots would probably all be easier and take less effort though
When the guy only had 2 mins left before alex started to untie him, he should have legged it out that gate and into a taxi!

As amazing as the boilersuit callback was, the best past of that task was Rhod gaming the system and tying up Alex instead.
Mel's reading the second envelope is possibly my favorite moment from that season. "Oh, gang."
I was honestly expecting the last one to just be, "now put all of the items back on the table in the exact positions they were to begin with," and my strategy would have literally been to just do nothing, but I'm even more pleased that Noel had basically the perfect strategy.
Absolute best part is Alex realizing that rhod has played an uno reverse card in response to his own reverse card in the tying up task

No, he was tricked. As were the others. They'd only been told at an earlier point that the horn would go off 'at some stage' - they had no knowledge it would go off during that particular task. None of the 5 anticipated it - just Rhod and Phil were lucky (or Rhod unintentionally rewarded for his clever tactic of tieing up Alex) that they hadn't tied themselves up by the time the horn went off.

They'd been cryptically told earlier in the episode: "in a future task, when you hear the siren sound, put on a boiler suit and lie on the ground." But they hadn't been told which task it would be during. And, of course, it's all edited together so there was probably some time, and maybe plenty of other tasks, between the cryptic siren information, and the tieing up task. So none of the contestants knew the siren was going to go off during that particular task. Which is why James reacted like he did - half annoyed that he didn't see it coming, half admiring he'd been tricked like that (he's a big fan of the show so probably felt he should have seen it coming). Rhod was a bit slower to remember what the siren meant than the others when it did go off, but he was then in a position to be a lot quicker than the others as he'd come up with a great tactic for the tieing up task (it was just extra lucky for him that it also coincided with the mystery siren task). 🙂

I've seen the card task so many times and I've *just* realised the task doesn't actually say you have to name the cards from memory. You could just give each individual card back to Alex and name each one out loud.
The term "currently" about the order of the cards could also be interpreted as when you give them to Alex. I was facepalming over the fact that no one took the 5 minutes to just sort the cards into each suit in order. Then you just have to remember the order of the suits.

When the mnm went up Mel's nose I literally started crying and wheezing with laughter. That whole segment is pure happiness.

My only criticism of Taskmaster is the food waste. Absolutely love everything else about it.
They've mentioned a few times that they've donated to a food bank after certain tasks because the food waste was a lot. I do hate that food waste is a massive part of UK comedy
