I understand some, or many, love CR7. However, thinking Mbappe is supposed to fill CR7 boots is just nonsense. When CR7 arrived, was he suppose to fill in for Di Stefano or Puskas? Are we also suppose to think Davies is to fill Roberto's Carlos shoes? Bellingham fill in for Zidane? Rodrygo for Figo? Tchouameni for Makelele? I've never seen two identical players.... Mbappe just needs to be himself, and so the rest of the current players. Hala Madrid!
The idea of filling to role of another player is a motivation to continue the greatness of Madrid. This does not mean copying the play style of the previous, but the desire to win everything and anything. The history of madrid is a challenging task that only the greatest players can continue. Mbappe, Vini, Bellingham, and others are brought to match and improve on the intensity’s of those prior.
