6 Hacks To Stop iPhone Spam Calls - Scammers Hate #4!
David & David show you how to block spam calls on an iPhone. U.S. consumers received nearly 4 billion robocalls per month in 2020. In spite of the FCC's push to combat robocalls and spoofing, it's still a major problem - and headache - for practically everyone with a phone number.
There are a couple iPhone settings you can turn on to cut down on spam calls. The first is Silence Unknown Callers, which sends calls to voicemail if they aren't from your contacts, recent outgoing calls, or Siri Suggestions. Some carriers also give you the option to Silence Junk Callers if your carrier detects the call as potential spam or fraud.
You can also add your phone number to the Do Not Call Registry. This will help stop spam calls on your iPhone, but be warned - not every call center will honor this.
Add your phone number to the Do Not Call Registry: www.donotcall.gov
There are several spam blocking apps you can install to stop iPhone spam calls. While you could install a third-party app from your carrier, we recommend trying a free app from the iPhone App Store first. Wireless carriers are great at nickel-and-diming you. They may make you pay a monthly fee for features included for free with a robocall-blocking app.

I am not clinking on any links .
Simply, I don’t answer my phone unless I absolutely know who’s calling. If it’s important they will leave a message. If it’s spam I block the number.
I do the same thing.
Same and my phone is literally on dnd all the time however this one spam company keeps calling and it's annoying asl 😩
I get the same spam from the same company using all different numbers 10-15 messages a day. Always the same message.
Same. I tried to get my mother to do this but she just couldn’t do it.
Probably the best approach. Wait for the voicemail.
Verrrry informative. The guys give a straightforward yet thorough discussion of spamming and what we can do about it. Thank you and Happy Birthday David!
Happy Birthday to you David!!!! Thank you both…. I try to watch everything you are so kind to share with us! You have helped someone who lives on a very small pension…. Bless you both!
I couldn't have been angrier than when I got a spoof call from MY KID'S SCHOOL per caller ID, which every parent fears that mid-day school call, dropping anything you're doing immediately... I screamed at that person with a fury. I hope they were able to find a different job.
Thank you so much for all the information you provide! I really appreciate it!
Thanks guys!! Happy Birthday David🎂. This was very helpful and just what I needed to silence the 30 plus calls I’ve been getting this week.
Thanks for all the other tips you all have given. Nice finding out all of the settings you can change to help your phone be more secure and more productive. 🙂👍🏻
Happy Birthday David!! Thank you both for all you do. Love your channel!
Appreciate you both so much for keeping us informed and helping us fight this junk!
You guys are awesome! Thanks for the great tips. And I love your light, humorous way of presenting information.
Thanks! My wife & I have gotten a great deal of help from watching your videos. Keep up the good work, And the channel!
Happy Birthday David!!! Hope you have a wonderful day! Love your guys’s channel!
Frankly, I think the phone companies are in cahoots with these spammers. When I was driving rigs cross county I would get multiple spam calls a day from the area code that I was currently located. So either the phones companies allow this nonsense or the spammers have hacked into the cell towers all over the country.
The spammers could be tracking your location from overseas.
Yes, the phone companies are in cahoots with the robocallers and scammers. Somehow they make money every time a new calling number is issued. Which explains why they make it difficult to block these calls.
phone companies make millions on phone line usage they don't care who uses them for what
I’m a trucker and this happens to me everyday
Agreed. Phone companies sell local area numbers in huge bundles to these spammers. Then turn around and warn us about spam calls. Quite a PR spin. This also explains why they are constantly adding new prefix numbers to your local area. Then take a close look at your bill. Loaded with taxes as big brother cashes in.
I’ll normally scream my favorite profanities when a scammer calls about my car warranty or other fake crap they call about. I find it extremely satisfying.
What is your experience with scam callers? Let us know in the comments below! If you found this video helpful, be sure to share it with your friends and subscribe for more videos like this! Thanks for watching!
My experience is only negative. Numerous spam calls in the morning, afternoon and night. Too bad we cannot have nice things because there are groups of people who try to profit off spam calls.
How about if you don't have an Iphone?
I’m a dinosaur who still uses a landline which attracts robocalls + telemarketers + other ;) calls so I answer unknown callers with”Crystal speaking. How can I help you today?”, which gets no response or a hang up. That’s when my cordless is handy to prevent my answering machine getting loaded, since it only has the generic message which usually gets same response but not as often. Hope this is as helpful for others as it’s been for me. Good luck! They ARE annoying but not as often since I thought to answer this way so figured I’d share.
I received 43 calls last sunday and 15 calls the week before all on my house phone. I am on the Do Not Call Registry and my carrier for my landline has partnered with Nomorobo which I have both my home and cell registered with and yet I received 43 calls on my house phone. How do I make it stop? I've reported all of these calls and blocked as many as I can but like you guys said they keep switching up numbers. They even called me using my own home number!! I have Verizon for my cell but my cell is old; I have an iphone5s so where would I find these features on my cell phone? Since the majority of these calls comes through my home number, how do I stop them because it doesn't seem like nomorobo is working. Thanks your channel just popped up in my recommended list and I'm so desparate for help on how to stop these calls.
I have tried everything but nothing works. I won't answer any calls unless I know who it is because I feel like it is only validating my number for selling etc. I even filed complaints for a couple of years and nothing works. Sorry, but you can't tell me that our communications industry can't control this. We sent a man to the moon 50+ years ago, but we can't stop spam/scam. This country is becoming very disappointing with all of the social issues that never seem to be resolved. Sorry, for the rant, frustrated.
Happy birthday David, wish you all best wishes, awesome information, thank you for sharing, have a blessed day. Greetings from Orlando Florida
Happy Birthday, David! I like the clear advice you guys offer, and with a bit of humor in it. Keep us informed!
He looked pained, and actually always looks uncomfortable and unnatural on camera…unlike the other David.
Thank you! You both are clear and concise and don’t ramble on 😂. Great information!
You guys are the best! Happy Birthday David!!!
Thank you! Happy Birthday David!
Thanks a lot guys ... your info is extremely helpful because you don't just say do this and this, you take the time to explain it slowly and carefully for the rest of us that just never seem to have the time it takes to stay on top of this "stuff". (and if you're thinking that that was one hell of a long sentence, your right!) Cheers Mates!!
You guys are great! I appreciate your clear explanations at just the right speed - and with great charisma! Always informative and enjoyable to watch.
Happy birthday and congrats for your wonderful channel with so much useful information! Thank you both sooo much for this one!
Tks guys!!!! Happy bday David!!!👏🏻🎉
Love these guys, so informative, so straight to the point & both very funny 👍👍👍💯💯💯🙏🙏🙏
We love you too, JJ!
The problem with adding doctors, hospitals, ect to your contacts is that they all have 100+ different numbers they can be calling from. So that’s virtually impossible to do.
Good call. Most large organizations like hospitals use voip, and when they pick up a phone to make a call, the system finds an available line to call from. So, a nurse could call you from her desk phone 3 times and the caller id would have 3 different numbers.
This! At my dentist alone, the clerk texted me as I was still in talking to them about rescheduling an appointment, and the number I got the text from was not the main one my dentist uses. Instead the number they used is the one they use to follow up when it comes time to confirm appointments.
And my doctor calls from a private or unknown number because he does not want patients to be able to call him back on his own private cell phone number. So, unfortunately, the only thing I can do is answer every call and as soon as I figure out it is a spam caller, hang up on them and block their number.
Happy Birthday David! 🎂🥳 You guys are awesome 💕🤗
Thank you guys for all the helpful information
As an older un tech savvy person I love your vids. Have learned so much thanks!👏👍
You guys help me so much. I am not technically inclined and need help often and get frustrated. I can’t fix my iPhone when I run into issues or need to do something like this video. I’m so happy I found you guys. I subscribed immediately! Thanks!! You’re both awesome!! ❤️🙏🏼😃📱
We're glad we could help! -Zech
Happy Birthday David!🎉🎉🎉 Thank you both for your great tips!❤
Thanks for your videos and HBD David! 🥳
Iv used silence unknown calls and unknown numbers for over a year now. It works brilliantly, until you are expecting a call that is not on your phone and you don’t get it. Turning off the silence feature temporarily doesn’t help, because having to leave it off till the wanted call comes through, spammers can call. And trust me it’s like they know it’s off 🤦🏼♀️. Overall that feature works brilliantly.
I notice that you did not mention that when you block unknown callers the calls go to voicemail. My voicemail message explains this and I ask people that really have business with me to leave a message and I will call them back. I find that the scammers rarely leave a message and that way I can call important calls back.
Happy Birthday, David. First time watching your video, thanks for all the info.
Spam call software usually doesn't usually allow the spammer to enter dial tones. I would really like a type of auto attendant that would ask the caller to enter a number to proceed otherwise it will go to voice mail. Not sure if Apple IOS can support this, but it would make identifying robocalls MUCH easier.
Thanks again David’s! Good to know what apps you recommend to try and control spam calls! Happy birthday David!!!
thank you very much ! happy birthday David!
Happy Birthday dear David , many many happy returns for more years to come🎉🎉❤
“Call control” is a feature offered by some phone providers. Works perfectly.
Can you do anything on spam texts please. I get more of these than calls now. Thank you for a great video 😊
Text STOP.
Yah right 😂
Thanks guys!!!!! Happy Birthday David!
Happy Birthday David! I always get a lot out of your videos.
HBD! Also mad congratulations on getting to a million. Well deserved with all the useful content and terrific hosting.
I’m having a problem with receiving scam type text messages- it’s almost like the spam emails I used to get are now coming through via my text message. There’s no way to really figure out who these people are and how to stop them from sending these text messages- Any suggestions?
Same question here!
My friend told me you have to call your provider and request they block such messages. I haven’t tried it. I get scam messages as well. They will text like 20 random numbers and it’s coming from an email.
Report these texts to “spam” (7726) on Verizon. I copy the text, send to 7726. Then I copy the phone number and send to the same number. Although the phone number is usually spoofed, it’s a data point for the carrier.
@@flowerbomb2765 While I agree, I find that I spend a lot of time on hold along with my time to stop the nonsense. so much to deal with. I agree that our communications industries aren't doing enough and must be profiting from most of it.
Do you have Verizon? Make a copy of the spam texts and send it to 7726
Thank you for all the help guys and Happy Birthday Dave.
Happy birthday 🎁🎉🥳 David!! May your day be filled with happiness and no spam calls.
Love if you tell us about spam texts please!
FCC should do something about Indian's scam callers.. they become aggressive and won't stop calling regardless the time of the day...
I always learn something beneficial on your videos. Thanks for the info!
THANKS FOR THE TIPS HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVID
Happy Birthday David!!! Thanks for all you both do for us!!! Enjoy your day tomorrow!!!
This is all well and good, but I have Android. What about us?? I can't afford extra spam blocking and what is provided free really doesn't seem to stop calls some days. I'll get the same call, recorded message/voice from different numbers maybe 5-6 times. You're correct, blocking the call really does nothing!
Happy birthday David. Great job guys.
Happy birthday David and thanks for the info.
When will Apple learn how to set up their email app to deal with spam. I can’t even see the email address it’s being sent from much less mark it as spam. Also, where is the button to clear the spam folder. Maybe it’s the way I have it set up, but I’ve gotten used to looking at my mail on a windows pc.
Thanks, David and David! The AT&T app will show a call being from a telemarketer, but you have to upgrade to block those. I have nothing nice to say about THAT.
yes, while our communication companies won't deal with this (and I think they can) we the consumer have to pay extra to deal with a service that is illegal for the majority of time. Something doesn't feel right.
AT&T was recently breached exposing millions of customers.
Newbie here! I need a lot of help on how to use my i phone, and your channel seems to help me in that regard, which Apple tech support won’t tell you how these things work. And showing steps in details. Thanks!
Problem with blocking all robocalls is it often also stops autodial calls from needed numbers, like doctor offices and such.
Thank you so much for this! Because I kept my number, when I moved out of state, I know when I’m getting spam calls. The unfortunate thing, is that it’s from an earlier time zone. 🙄 I’ve been blocking the numbers, but as you’ve said, they’re like Hydra.
Happy Birthday :: tomorrow :: dark-haired David. You all are too cute and your videos are SO HELPFUL! Cheers
Thank you, I appreciate you getting right to the point. The spam was getting so overwhelming.
How to block spam text?
Working on it!
Robocalls could end tomorrow if the punishment was 5 years in prison and a $100,000 fine for each call. A company that hires a robocall service should have its CEO arrested and thrown in jail.
Off topic question: what do you guys think about having Norton or other additional security apps on iPhone? Doesn’t Apple provide their own within iOS for users’ protection and is or isn’t it sufficient? I have MS apps on my phone, many amongst others.
Happy Birthday David!!! Thanks for the help with junk calls! Looking forward to seeing how this work!!!
I love RoboKiller, I was getting at least 10 fake calls daily. I use my phone for work so it was really terrible. Also the spam/scam texts have stopped coming in; these were increasing daily at all hours! I don’t mind paying for something that gives me peace.
ROBO-KILLER is awesome! I love it! Totally worth it!!!!
Made my day much quieter! Thanks!
I just love this Payett I originally learned Microsoft at my place of work when in upper management. So I thought Microsoft was all there was. Then my nephew many years later asked me why I didn’t use Apple. I said I knew nothing about Apple & then a whole new learning curve again ensued. Then when I went to his home, he had Microsoft & Apple on another computer. He explained that Microsoft was what businesses mainly used. Anyway, as I fumbled my way through, learning Apple, I found it much more intuitive & much better in my retirement years. I use my IPHONE, for most everything & rarely use my MacBook Air. I wasn’t born with a computer in my mouth. So you guys have filled in many blind spots. Thank you. 🙏🙏
Happy Birthday David, have a great one.
Happy bday David! Yeah! Another Bull 🐂 Thank you guys for your tips, great channel 🙏
Thanks so much, Jessica!
Unfortunately my iPhone doesn't have Silence Junk Callers😂😂😂
Even more helpful than usual! I love this site!
Dear Sirs, I’m starting to get text messages from these sites, is there anything I can do to remove/block this type of spammers
I've been getting these texts too! It's so annoying. They find every way to invade our privacy.
Same with ads all over social meadow sites on my iPad. No 3rd party app can block them. Talk about invading your privacy.
I just love it when I get a phone call from my own number. 😆
You are amazing! Thank you!
Happy Birthday David!
Here in China not only our phones already block spammers and scams by default but also the police keeps updating those numbers.. Also from time to time the police of your city keeps sending messages and warning for people to remember to not give any money whatsoever to strange numbers asking for it.
Fellow expat in China, hello! how can i install didi on a new iphone? i searched news within China that says that Didi was taken off the app markets in 2021 (for regulations reason) - if you got a new iphone, how can you workaround that? i still have Didi in my Android, but i want to switch phones now...and as we all know here in the middle kingdom, the english didi interface is a 1000% MUST app
I have the best spam blocker in the world! I don’t answer the phone unless it’s someone I know! How perfect is that?
Perfect! Roger, roger!
Happy Birthday David!,,🎉🎉
watched all videos always helpful great information .
You guys are awesome! Hopefully KZhead will fix its accessibility issues with the like buttons not displaying and I can give this an official like at a later date. Until then, accept this as both my "like" and also a warm happy birthday to David.
That’s weird, if you were VoiceOver use that as I am I could like this video quite easily but I know what you mean some videos you cannot get to the “like, dislike, save to playlists” etc
@@aob4214 Yes. hardly any videos lately allow me to get to like or share or playlist options lately using Voiceover.
I have to buy an app to do what AT&T should do because they are already paid; BS
Great information. Thank you. You made it easy to set this up and stop annoying Robo calls!
Happy Belated Birthday, David! 🎂🎊🎉🍾
The best thing to do is to engage the spam callers as much as possible. Press the option to talk to the "Specialist" or "salesman" or whatever they call the spammer, then when he asks you for your Vehicle ID for the warranty, tell him to please hold while you go get the Vehicle ID. Just put the phone down and let him wait, he'll wait about 5 or 10 minutes or more, and if you can keep them waiting, they can't spam as many people. Keep them on the line as long as possible, if 1000 people do that, you have waisted about 500 hours of their time, which costs them thousands of dollars. Everybody should do that, and that will stop them.
People who have jobs and families don't have time for that
You have to be careful when you answer a spam call. With the use of robo dialers, they are just making blanket calls. When I worked on the telecom field we called it dialing for dollars. I used to work for AT&T and my local Bell company. Once you pick up the phone and answer the call you confirm that it’s a good number to use. You may then start receiving more calls in the hopes of finally getting you to pick up the phone and engage with their agents.
No it’s definitely easier to just ignore unknown numbers.
The best thing to do is not answer, and if you do hang up, pressing options could caused you to agree or sign up to something you’re not aware of. causing charges on your phone bill🤷🏽♀️ the more you answer the more they will call.
I’m starting to think that these spam calls are originated from your cell phone carrier in an attempt to get you to purchase their spam call blocker.
Happy Birthday 🎂 David 🎉🎊
Happy Birthday, David!!!!!!!
Has anyone else found spam-texts on the rise?
Hey guys, have you done a giveaway for David’s birthday? Or have you been hacked?
I’ve been told I won an iPhone, but something feels off
DAVID please note, you were hacked. I have screen caps from someone saying they were you guys, giving away a iPhone 13 Pro Max as a member appreciation. I almost sent 100. to cover shipping! Dude kept calling me, a girl with a girls name, buddy. Can you please let me know how to send you the screen caps
This is crazy! This person is demanding 100.
Was anyone else contacted?
I followed their instructions and it silenced all calls including those who were in my address not just junk calls. Be careful.
You guys are GREAT! Thanks so much for helping us!😊
Happy birthday DAVID 🎉
not having a phone BLOCKS scam callers FOREVER....
Can't argue with that!
Carriers should be forced to stop the Phoofers, all phones have an address, if it does not match the recorded phone number do not allow the call.
There is a legitimate reason that call spoofing exists. For example, during COVID lockdown, some people who perform customer service for a company would have been working from home - any calls they made on behalf of their employer would look best if the caller ID displayed their employer as the caller. But once you open the door for something legitimate, abuse of that capability is bound to emerge. Since it appears the bulk of theses robocalls originate from countries other than the USA, one would think the FCC could do a better job of preventing those abusers from getting through to the phone network in the USA.
Thank you. This video was very helpful.
thank you guys for helping us block spam calls because I have had many spam calls and have tried this method and I haven't got any scam calls since so thanks!
I actually got a call showing my own number!! That was freaky. A friend of mine told me that her and her husband were sound asleep when their cell phone rang. When they answered it, it originated from the landline inside their home! The only landline phone was downstairs. Someone was calling them from inside their home!! Every slasher movie flashed through their mind!! 😱😱. It turned out to be one of those scammers calling them using their landline number. 😂😂
What about spam and marketing text messages? I have blocked more than 50 and counting from fashion retail companies, to restaurant chains, to dental clinics bla bla bla … 😡
You guys are awesome! Keep up the great work!
