A Maldivian travel association is planning to hold roadshows in key Indian cities in a bid to woo back Indian tourists who have begun boycotting the island nation. The announcement was made after members of the association met India's top diplomat posted in the Maldives. Indians made up the largest chunk of foreign tourists visiting the Maldives in 2023, but the number has fallen considerably in the first four months of 2024. Indian tourists have slipped from first to sixth on the list of foreign tourists. The boycott was triggered by derogatory comments made by then-Maldivian ministers at India and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Can roadshows resolve this diplomatic row? She made a biased statement for boycott in the news and made it seem as if the number of tourists going to the Maldives had decreased, but the situation is exactly the opposite. The figures given are for the first 3 months of the winter season, that is when tourism seoson is at its lowest. Compared to the previous year, the number of Indian tourists arriving in January-March peroid is higher than last year. Although Turkey supports Pakistan and negative news is reflected towards Turkey, Turkey broke a historical record in the number of indian tourist in 2023.

I am South African citizen, mallu as we are called in India. I am not going to Maldives. Was in Goa, Manipal, Kerala and Mumbai past December. This year, Kerala, Delhi and Agra. Having been on holidays to over 30 countries, India is the best - beaches, wildlife, mountains, culture, food, history , natural environments, people, internet connectivity.. Everything!
@Sam-po4cr go to Periyar Tiger Reserve, or Ramtambore. Dolphins swimming next to us in Agonda Beach in Goa. Agumbe, Jog Falls drive. I know there are tons more. I worked for National Parks here, so came on a few work kinda trips to India. Snow leopard tracking near Lapdakh... Awesome. According to regular global park visitors, Indian wildlife beats South Africa. The animals are very pretty looking too, just like the subcontinents people
