    • @@kathyfranklund3628 Sorry to disagree, but Дурак Дон is just the natural conclusion on decades of Republican grift and authoritarianism. A brief history of the “party of Lincoln”: The Southern Strategy put an end to that. Where they embraced the southern Dixiecrats enraged by LBJ passing the Civil Rights Act. Add to that the Evangelical Strategy, which changed a humble group of deeply religious people who found politics unseemly into one issue fervent voters attending mega churches with pastors who live in mansions and fly on private jets, all without paying a nickel in taxes. Next came an actor president who could pump out false lines on toughness and self improvement all while implementing economic policies that would ensure an income gap that to this day has still not been properly addressed. After that the Koch brothers, et al started their behind the scenes moves to destroy democracy through control of statehouses, implementing gerrymandering and other voter disenfranchisement laws to ensure a party with extremely unpopular policies, when taken as a whole, could remain in power, with representation grossly disproportionate to their votes received. Before the Kochs turned their attention to destroying a free education system by propping up the idea of publicly financed religious charter schools, actively changing curriculums at local schools and donations to large universities, with the caveat of having a say on what is taught. Let’s not forget Roger Ailes’ and Rupert Murdoch’s role in providing a platform to amplify their message in the form of propaganda disguised as news. Inventing straw men for viewers to fear, distracting from the real issues affecting their lives. Which brought us the Tea Party, the first wave of nut jobs elected in districts engineered to only support candidates from one party and where only the most fervent supporters voted in the primaries. Act One of the party of crazy. Cannot miss the Heritage Foundation’s role, working with McConnell and others to ensure the court system is filled with Christian religious zealots and loyalists in a country supposedly founded upon freedoms, liberties and a separation of Church and State. Let’s not forget Doug Coe, long time leader of The Fellowship, host of the national prayer breakfast. A group that has spread their evil tentacles worldwide and holds loyalty to no country, but only rather to a fervent belief that those who attain power were ordained by God to hold that power. Therefore, their insane logic goes, God forgives them of any and all sins they have or will commit. They whisper platitudes in the ears of leaders throughout the world and tell them they are “Chosen” by God to wield his mighty sword. Sound familiar? On to the internet! A platform controlled by narcissistic, sociopaths, whose only real goal is that idea of success created in the 80’s, amassing an amount of money that they could never spend in 100 lifetimes, while more and more people enter into poverty. How do they distract you from their ridiculous wealth? Algorithms to the rescue. Keep feeding you only the information that reinforces your preconceived biases, while making it more and more difficult to search out reality. “News” is now only served out in tiny snippets, bite sized morsels perfect for consumption in the short-attention span market. “News” has become an act of regurgitating talking points, which have no basis in reality, but when repeated enough, begin to shape people’s “reality.” A gaslighting goldmine! Enter Q! A political invention of who knows what origin at this point, to push ridiculous conspiracy theories promoting policies that could not be supported by fact. Q’s theories have changed over time and always embraces new players, even when it contradicts previous theories, all to the delight of their captive audience. At this point Q is most probably hundreds of hackers in Russia, Iran, North Korea and/or China whose only true goal is to weaken democracy through division. So there we have it! A synopsis of the current Grand Ole Party! Time to dig the grave and move on from it.

Which I thought was hilarious and I blew off the warning when reading to my nephew... until the tongue-twister words Dr. Seuss used tripped me up so badly, it was embarrassing. I was like, "Hold on. Let me try that again." *GRIN I can't remember which book it is, but that warning is there for a good reason, LOL. Green Eggs and Ham, though. That's an easy one. ;) Edited to add: Found it! It's Fox in Socks, which came with this warning: "This is a book you read aloud to find out just how smart your tongue is. The first time you read it, don't go fast!" I still ignored that warning, until the words from that book totally got me. I think I had to start all over again. :D

    • @Kimberly Christine I really wish I could do a garden. Been wanting to for years. I have yard space and time since I am unemployed and employers have been doing interviews over the phone, but I have big dogs. My back yard is separated into two parts. One side is for them and they've torn up the ground leaving the majority of if dirt and the other is towered over by a giant oak tree that has roots all over the ground, above and below. It makes digging virtually impossible. I recently subscribed to a channel that showed someone growing produce in aboveground planters. If I gather enough funds, I may give that a go. I may not have children, but my mother raised seven children on her own and we used to say "you better eat as much as you can now because you don't know when you'll eat again." Ha ha ha. It was bad back then, but like you did during the recession, we learn and persevere. There's another channel called Kitchen Chronicles and she makes a lot of meals that can be altered for vegan and the ingredients are simple and cheap. It has also helped spread my food budget. Hope you and your family stay safe and well.

    • Yeah, this is ridiculous. Totally unprecedented for an elected Federal office holder to address the public in his official capacity by reading them _Green Eggs and Ham!_ ...oh, no, wait, Ted Cruz already did that. To be fair, though, it's a lot more intelligent and meaningful than anything either of these guys ever say when they write their own stuff. And it's written at the reading level of most of their supporters.

  • Simple solution that will cut the cost of the bill Let senators vote whether or not their own state wants relief Give them the opportunity to refuse payment If the Republicans are convinced that their constituents truly oppose the bill, then don't give it to them. I feel like that would solve the problem If they are right, the cost of the bill goes down If they are wrong, then they get to face their constituents These people were elected to enact the will of the people So if a state elected someone who is more concerned with Children's Books than a financial crisis That state gets what it asked for, and might vote differently next time I'm from a red state by the way. Maybe my neighbors will wake up and pay attention and see who is actually trying to help them, and vote accordingly

They are ok while America suffers, while they are allowed to play these childish games that at the end of the day they are not put in a bind while a pandemic is working and economy tanks and all the while Americans are not working, going homeless, going hungry, plainly suffering and their representatives cough cough republicans can give a damn even their own constituents. We need Term Limits and no more than 3 terms and no com backs or affiliation with any seat in either House - they need to go find a real frkn job just as all Americans. cruz needs to be ousted. He is one of many reason why we have problems in our government. SMH. Do a show on Term Limits to get the ball rolling. They go in average and come out millionaires. SMH.
